What I don't get and can't stand at all is the fact that so many people in the conan community thinks that to make money you need to do bad choices game wise. Or the hatred many will vomit towards the very few who dare to criticizes the game. I deeply love this f****g game, it's the game I have spent more time on than any other game that I played over the years and yet people fail to realize that when I or others criticize the game we do so moved by genuine concern and affection for a truly unique game. Just yesterday on the funcom forum one modder opened a topic inquiring about why some easy fix was not been addressed already and the wast majority of responses were fueled by hatred and resentment, some even suggested that funcom should remove the possibility to use the devkit to create mods... What?!?! Apparently speaking about the loss of quality and the many bugs that afflicted this game to some is some sort of "hate speach".

I was involved in this Convo, trying to explain to this 'smart' console player why he said just a lot of bullshit, getting back just unnecessary attacks from other low level person's like this one. The community is meh, and a lot of players still defend FC in any case. Perfect customers for milk money to. So yes, I think is our fault as community also. The only power we got over a company is when we decide to don't play and support a game. 60% of the base game players are on consoles actually, so no Mods, so perfect targets to milk money, even more from a casual game as CE is right now.

They also nerfed thralls and animals making your base almost impossible to be defended while player is offline and yes removal of god bubble is absolute garbage.

I played Conan since launch and im absolutely disgusted at how the devs sold out like that. Before isle of siptah it was a bit bland, but it was still difficult and the sense of adventure and imposing doom was always present. Also the strategic base building was a HUGE aspect of the game, meaning not just anybody with bombs can come and raid your base if you protected it. They completely ruined the game, and after over 3000hrs sunk into it i dont think i can play it again. It hurts me to say it because it really was my favorite game, i had so much fun and met so many cool people along the way, we all learned how to play it together because there really wasnt many guides when it first got released so every body i met would either kill me or show me something i didnt know, and i would show people other things they hadnt known. Its a damn shame they sold out like that, it really was an awsome game but the devs just had a weak backbone 😢

As a solo prefered playee, when they took the servers off steam and moved them to some other servers and players could no longer play the game with no internet connection even in the single player client is when i turned against funcom, the game has been going downhill for the last 7 years.

As a pve player I can't really agree that things have gotten easier, not in pve. Conan Exiles has always been easy in pve. All you had to do is get a good thrall and they'd do everything for you, it was super easy. Now you actually have to involve yourself in combat or your thrall will be toast. Is it hard? By no means but just requiring player participation in combat increases difficulty even if it's just to a small extent. I will say this tho, beginning with AoS many longstanding issues have since been resolved. They keep introducing new ones but compared to how they used to be I think they're solving issues at a quicker pace. They've made some very serious missteps in the process like the issue with Nemedian foundations and decaying thralls but I feel the game is improving over time nonetheless. I still have issues with Funcom but I get the feeling you're looking at Conan Exiles past with rose colored glasses. As far as the bazaar and pay to win mechanics I have no opinion on. I don't use the bazaar so I don't pay much attention to it. As live service games go Conan Exiles is among the better games and their monetization schemes are not nearly as bad by comparison. That may not say all that much for the current state of live service games but true all the same. Eh I think we'll see the end of live service games before too long. I think there is an economic collapse coming and when it hits live service games will die with it.

You make good points. But you seem to have a fully pvp perspective. I run a heavily modded pve server for me and just a few other people. From my personal perspective it's an extremely challenging hardcore survival crafting game and it can be played for hundreds of hours with the vanilla content alone. The dlcs allow you expand on your creativity and immersion. The bazzar is there in case something catches your eye but, it can also be disabled or ignored on pc. The challenges are a great addition which allow you to earn some sweet free items in a game with an already daunting list of items. I will not spend more money unless there is a neat build set or something I really want. Ballance doesn't matter of you're playing the game for the world itself and have full control of the settings. Conan being a survival game, "a cash grab", or "unfair" is heavily dependent on server settings and the type of player you are. The majority of people who play single tiles long term are casual players that enjoy single player experiences, it seems to me they are catering to the people who will stick with the game and play casually for years years to come and they don't really care about the temp pvp players who will just move on and don't appriciate the exploration, story, or immersion or world and just care about being the best. From a financial standpoint it seems to me like funcom as a company is doing the right thing by investing in the players who will continue to spend money on quality editions to the game over longer periods of time, and given enough time they will be able to pinpoint what editions are good or bad based off of their consumers spending habits and successful assets ultimately leading to even higher quality content. I will spend money if the price is right and the assets improve my immersion. (quality building pieces, Thrall ai, creature ai, story elements, maps, crafting expansions, skill expansions, quality of life updates, performance updates, game engine/ code upgrades, etc are worth it for pve players)

I loved the exile land and fell in love with the lore. When Isle of Siptah first came out, I took a break from Conan till last month. It was good for me to take a break and let them do updates. I am worried about the Bazaar and season pass but I am trying to beat Isle of Siptah without Google.

As someone who just started picking this game up again after well over a year, I’m so disappointed that they’ve been adding new content while all the same bugs and glitches are still there. Rope breaks while dragging a potential thrall? Better hope they don’t fall into the ground. Rolled too close to a corner? You’re about to lose everything in the ground once you fall through it and die. Random water sounds when you’re running around? Deal with it. I had a private PvP server, didn’t last, wasn’t long until I had dupers and cheaters so I closed it. I have a PVE server, with a few rules , but some players simply do not follow the rules. I restrict foundation stack heights and under meshing and only ask for players to use clan names. But not many players on my server, but the players I do have are really great and respect the server, help keep lag to a minimum. But as always sooner or later you always get a player who disrespects how much I pay for the server, ignores the rules then throws the “But on Official Servers rule book at me, “ seemingly not releasing that it is a private server.

@@Mahazioth Are you saying that if someone is paying for a server , they do not have the right to set some rules. Probably people who own servers can manage them a lot better than official servers. Plus there is nothing saying or demanding you stay on that private server. I have played on some really amazing private servers, some with activities to actually take part in, not like official servers that provide extremely long grinds, expensive crafting costs and absolutely nothing to do apart from the odd and very rare events that happen and a purge, to destroy all your weeks grind in a few minutes. I have a few rules on my server, nothing extremely unacceptable. If people want to build big laggy bases, undermesh or build sky bases then there are plenty of official servers out there.

Age of Sorcery was alright. Age of Roll killed the game. For every nice addition/change there's 100 crappy changes. This game is on its way to becoming what every mass multiplayer game becomes: a dress-up game with a predatory, pay-to-win shop. A real shame too since this game had loads of potential and was sort of a niche in the survival genre.

I'm sorry, friend, but Funcom wasn't changed by Tencent. Tencent just allowed them to do what they already planned. You even said it. Their purchase by Tencent allowed them to implement their long term goals. Those goals WERE the MTX we have now. Funcom is NO stranger to egregious and unethical MTX in their history. Look I to it. It's BAD. Funcom were never the good guys and Tencent didn't corrupt them. I wouldn't be surprised if they SOLD Tencent on the idea in order to get the funding with their already planned bazaar and MTX. The Battle pass was just there so the sheep could be like "you don't need to buy MTX and you only need to play for the BP once!" When did leveling ever matter in Conan ? The leveling system was always more of a tutorial than a significant part of the game. Leveling to 60 was never an accomplishment.

when they said they will stop the dlcs and release battlepasses and bazaar items i felt conan exiles is going to a bad direction and i was right. the fact that they removed some of free recipes that we could unlock for free like emotes and undead pets. its not that big of a deal but its shows how lazy they are and money hunger. they said its not going to be Pay to win but if you played for a long time you will sure know its pay to win Some of Dlc battle passes bazaar weapons have higher stats then star metal weapons. Hey Maz, long time solo pvp viewer. I quit conan to become a gamedev to make a game with the same gameplay approach. There is a magic behind Conan PVP that I found nowhere else. Cero captured this same feeling his most popular video a year or so back. It has a ton of faults we know those and we work around them, but in the end what causes the most of us to quit is not even other players, getting wiped, it's the feeling that Funcom wants to punish us often due to their own bumbling and fallibility. No matter our love for the gam however, we always saw the big fat glaring problems. Things like endgame overpowering the game too much, the masses of static content (like every spawnpoint in the whole game) weak AI and the junk called purge. One dedicated guy like me could do better on some thing in a week than these guy manage in months. 2 weeks ago I built n NPC clan system where the NPC's use bases made of buildparts. Bases made in game with the game for my upcoming purge aid like system. I'm not even looking for interest, just making a point, thats how long it takes for a dev with only a year of experience(In unreal). I have no idea of what these guys are doing over there, but I'm really convinced that their devs are either timeboxed or inexperienced grads.

@@ESnizzle Kind thanks. I just hit the first major milestone yesterday. Building works exactly how I expect it to. Crafting works. Cooking works. Inventory. Chests. Food+hunger, Water+thirst. Blueprints(recipies). Melee anged weapons both work and are projectile based. Grenades and bombs both work, and the explosion looks awesome. Bombs don't leave little fires yet. No attributes\perk system yet. The GUI right now is mostly just a clone of conan, but different colours. Enemy clans works, but that'it's

The Best thing is owning your own server. Doesnt solve the whole issue but it does mitigate. On our server we have the old school drop rates (1-3 per hit at start) x3 dmg to the player so its very darksouls like combat(easy to get dropped in 2 hits), 0 admins play as normals they are only purely active on the server side and very much active, reduced stamina so no infinite roll, etc. Using free mods instead of buying DLCs. And basically just adjusting all server settings to counter the baby training wheels the game changed to. They have made some crappy changes BUT even though u cant stop all of them there are enough counter measures you can take as a admin about 80%. I would still tell people if they wanted to get it to yes get it, I mean i get it 100% BUT the issues you have are mostly about the company and the changes they are making and yes at that point thats the part the effects the game. But the game in its self separately is still a fun game and can be better on proper private servers. So would I tell them not to buy it? No i would pretty much say only what u said at the end.....if you buy it only play on PROPER private servers. But i do agree with you about all their horrible choices, but im powering past them to keep it one of my favorite games by reverse engineering their changes. I could go on for days about a ton of the changes we made to make this feel like a newer polished conan WITHOUT tencent (having that grindy, harsh/harcore survival darksouls basebuilder feel without all the baby training wheel options) and i guess that alone is sad that we have to go that far just to get it that way BUT with enough work it is doable.

Private is the only way to go these days. It's what Funcom wants too. They even said in a livestream they would like to have the game privatized. Think they would love to do away with all official servers and focus on sub par content in the form of the bazaar. I just don't want people to go through the experience I had and so many other have had on official. It's heart wrenching to be on top of your game just to have the company take it all away.

To be honest the game was fucked when they introduced star metal, it did not fit in the progression system and made the previous ressources and grind half useless. Final nail in the coffin was economy rework with t3 blacksmith getting the iron reinforcments/steel reinforcement recipe that was previously only on purge blacksmith. Game balance was completely fucked up at that point.

Two dozen Purges replaced with one "raid" which if you're lucky spawns - once. (It won't use the same spawn site twice) And won't spawn at all if your defences involves anything more than three doors.

I agree with everything you said. I have been playing since 2018 and I have been banned a total of 8 times including 2 perma bans. I have 4 accounts I play on. Like you said they don’t really tell you why you were banned. The game is getting so easy compared to when I started. It was harsh and that’s why I fell in love with the game, “The Grind” if the new Dune comes out with TOS and same processes as this game I will not even attempt to spend my money on it. Its very telling how, with the utter and complete butchery of the PvP rework with the infinite rolling spear poke meta, the RP community has responded by an exodus of players from Mech PvP servers to fill the dice PvP servers. Combat simply isn't enjoyable anymore at all, and people are going out of their way to enjoy it. Conan is, at this point, almost a better graphicked version of second life.

Above all, no one knows what standard they use to ban ppl. For example, I became banned because of my base (deserters gutter) At the same point, a friend of mine reported a base on another server (his base was about 3x the size of ours) and they weren't banned because supposedly everything was ok. They don't even tell you why they're banning you, since they're above everything

I dont mind slow rendering n a lil lag...but never being able to save progress is a deal breaker..im on SP on ps4 n everytime i disconnect from the quit game option it freezes n when i reboot ive lost all knowledge n equipped weapons n thralls go missing...ive re-downloaded the game 3 x and rebuilt my database 3 x...no luck for a consistent fix..now i chk the log n close the app from the PS menu..but smtimes the log dsnt save either so thats also not a permanent option...can somebody help?

That's pretty much when I stopped playing. Checked the Age of Sorcery gameplay loop, which was interesting, but I couldn't "feel the magic" there.

The moment Tencent bought Funcom, I knew the game was going to go to shit. As for why it takes so long for Funcom to fix things? It's because they're terrible at fixes, or even learning from what they have already done. Anarchy Online was a shit show when it launched, and the auction house in that game was absolutely terrible to use at launch. Then they did Age of Conan and the auction house there was crap all over again. Prior to that, I used to complain that MMOs weren't able to learn from what other companies had done. With AoC, Funcom wasn't even able to learn from their past mistakes and that has continued on.

@Mahazioth I do agree with most of your points in here,however old stamina system was utter garbage i strongly disagree with old just get daggers press Q and left click spam "skill" in PvP that is not a skill that is a exploit and misuse and unbalanced shit of a "tactic".Also what is also absurd you forgotten to mention is that most of the private servers although they control cheating i guess they are also retarded in 1 way - they are prone to wipe the progress except few of those servers(who in hells name wants to start over and over again after few months or something like that this is not a game on matches so you start over and over again in every match) and on the other hand official servers have progress but handling of them is done abnormally poorly and yes you get banned for nothing - land claiming and other bs,while cheaters roam around freely. They also nerfed thralls and animals making your base almost impossible to be defended while player is offline and yes removal of god bubble is absolute garbage.

Conan is considered a failed title. I love this fame but funcom is the epitome of incapable. They're selling people content for a DEAD game. Look at the server pops at any point any time of day and I'll be clear the state the game is in. Conan has so much potential and it's been wasted for literally nothing. Weapons have been glitched for over a year. The hardest weapon to obtain grinding, The Sword of Crom has been broken for over a year. Not to mention dozens of weapons. Technology progression makes ZERO sense. Star Metal is the end all-be all. Serpent weapons are ASS. Frost Weapons are ASS.. why is there even tech beyond star metal if it worse by a HUGE margin.

I come from ARK as a day one player. Years flew by on the that game. Not every update or new items they added were great but I was always excited. I was never randomly dev wiped, I wiped cheaters off of servers and got them banned many times, devs actually cared about the pvp community and so on. My experience on ARK was much more enjoyable. Coming to Conan and playing on their official servers vs ARK, lol what a joke. Wildcard did screw up though with the legal actions and snail games came along to "bail" them out. They actually did stand up to them initially, snail wanted to implement pay ways, wildcard said no.

Reported a clan (with video evidence) of them in the mesh and in a skybase on September 08. Zendesk responded saying 'We're looking into it', and absolutely zero since then. Our bases have been wiped by the six clan member attacking every night as soon as raid time starts. We can't retaliate, as all their goodies are in the mesh, and it's a pain in the proverbial to get up to their skybase. Good work Funcom. You've lost five members of our clan that have played for four years and own all the DLC. Not a cent more though.

I agree with your assessment about maybe 90%, however couple of things that I feel you are not understanding something about the gaming industry. First developers in this business model have no say in what is put in the game or what gets fixed. They are at the mercy of management of the company who don't understand the market, nor do they care because then know that some moron will continue to put time and money in to a product that is garbage , like anarchy online, or blizzard. or bethesda. People are starting to wake up recently Anheuser-Busch, Target, Blizzard wow , and most recently unity. Have taken big hits to their client base and in particular developers did stands up and say this pricing model is bad , but management didn't listen and their stocks tanked. They had to revert price change, The CEO John Riccitiello stepped down , I think he was fired since he no longer has any power such as being chairman of the board, which makes me think he was fired. Couple of actions that could be taken is; One thing that might be possible is to start a class action suite against funcom since everything that they announced they went back on like any new land masses would be free of charge, They would support the moding community, on top of taking credit for improvements to the to game that they didn't make like the small animal stall. That was a mod that was part of the emberlite mod. One other grounds that could be taken is possibly when funcom released the funcom client to bypass steam they knowingly broke the game that caused people to lose ownership of they things they build or acquired. This could have been avoided by doing a proper database merge, As well as people rejected having a second login to funcom, The second option Basically recreate a client that allows you to load in asset from the conan exiles community. Basically the client would have to be built from the ground up, as well as a project to support servers. Maybe remove tethering for better co-op. Maybe when the server is made do a open source version of anti-cheat. Because battle-eye is useless and basically uses resources to collect date from customer pcs.

Now that I addressed conan exiles there is another area that i would like to address. Specifically to Mahazioth comment about others that use government assistance. First off. if you got a stimulus check you got welfare. Did you use to to catch up on bills or what you needed or did you use it to buy a game, or something you didn't need? Second currently our government, is giving 400k a yr to cartels for each person they claim is in their household, in addition they get food stamps and housing assistance. While the cartels traffic children, as well as drugs. There is literally old walmart buildings in the US where children are held to be shipped off to be trafficked. Billions of dollars of military equipment left in Afghanistan do you honestly believe it was cheaper to leave all that stuff there then to bring it back. The government doesn't give up anything unless there is something in it for them. I have a hunch that equipment was sold When it comes to people that might need a little help to get buy because of whatever has happening in their life i guarantee you buying a game is the least of their problems, because the government doesn't give stacks of cash to people that need it, they get the bare minimum unless you are a criminal. There are some people that have disabilities that part of their therapy could be getting a game. Some of them work, but the majority of that money the get from government assistance goes toward treatment and living expenses, and what they earn working which is generally very little to cover the rest of the cost. So why shouldn't be able to buy a $20 game. I think you should stick to bitching about conan exiles and maybe have some constructive ideas on maybe alternatives to conan exiles on a channel like this one. If you have other issues maybe you should start another channel and address them there. and maybe do more research before you put your foot in your mouth on issues you , know nothing about.

I do agree with everything you said. And also I wonder, is that true Funcom, before sell the company and his own soul to Tencent, was in bad shape about financial? I got no data about, but I can made some assumptions, based on the high number of copies of the games sell. And also to the fact, the so called full game, so all the DLC'S, was not exactly for free, 140 bucks more or less. We old players rant and we are deeply disappointed about bazaar, BattlePass, and all the modifications introduced with the Ages. The problem is, we love the original game, the lore of Conan, but we forget the game is like a son from relatives. If the relatives are good person's, the game will grown good. If they aren't, the 'son' will grown like S***. Now, was Funcom a good game company before become Tencent Funcom? Lot of old players said NO. For good I mean a company able to follow a concept for the love of creating games, listening to the fanbase, and do their work with passion as others do. They was just able to pay for the rights of the character of Conan, R.E. Howard one, and build a damn good game (as it was) on that, even with shitty graphics (let's said the truth, the NPC'S and the character without Mods are ridiculously limited and simple). I remember personally, before buy the game, I have been doubts about FC. Then unfortunately I've buyed the game, and enjoyed 2k hours of gameplay before the Age of cash grab. Now CE is just like remember an old relationship gone wrong, you remember the good times but also you're aware why the relationship is gone so badly.

I stopped playing 6 months ago because everything in the game became basically free. No effort needed. Couldn’t find any point to the game anymore . I could live with bugs, exploits, cheaters and toxic players. But why play when I can get from level 1 to 60 in an afternoon, complete with a T3 base and meta gear. I could even buy the explosives I needed for basically a handful of nothing. So why go out to raid a base? Maybe I’ll get 15 min PvP entertainment - if I’m lucky. The loot? Who cares - everything is free anyway…

Good Game 👍 As of 3/2/24 I am playing this game, I’ve had no problems with it, I enjoy it immensely, I play as a single player, I simply took it at its face value, a survival building game-exactly what it is 👍 I do believe this commenter is a bit bitter at the fact this did not meet (his) expectations. I will say I purposely play older games, even years older, because they are always more refined and often include the DLCs

Totally agree with you. I made video series just to test myself in permadeath runs and it's a joke how easy the game has become. Tried every aspect of the game. Love the Lore and frankly the womanly looking Ladies and it's a wonderful escape from the effeminate men and manly ladies in other games and media. I only play on RP with mature older folks and it's so much better than my MMORPG days. Also thankfully I will never spend money for NFTs ahem cashshop items. Life is expensive as is and i learnt to be a minimalist even in game. I'm all for smaller indy stuff to get away with the soul sucking coorperations infesting every aspect of entertainment. I have only ever been banned because of mass reporting by a bunch of salty losers. Ironically it takes ages to ban hackers and even when they get banned, they are back the next day on alt accounts. Really sucks that they do such a terrible job at moderating the game. Outside of that, I am still hoping that we see some improvements to the pvp eventually. All the PVE changes just seem to be killing the pvp bit by bit.

Mistakes like this should not happen in the first place if they took the time to actually properly implement new items. What about the new snake you can only get by buying it? That's currently pay 2 win. Something that would not happen if they actually took some time to actually test their own items before implementing them.

I say the way to play the game how you want has become smaller, no reason to use warhammers, with how thrall ai works, you are stuck with heavy armor single handed legendary mace meta and not allow by the game and community to play differently cause everything is cookie cuttered and buggy.
