As someone that grew up in Orlando and frequented pleasure island a few times I have to say that that place was an absolute haven for working professionals. Once the riffraff were let in via no cost admission, it was finished.

Sadly, there is very little left of Pleasure Island at Disney Springs itself. You'll find a few props in the attic area of the Hangar Bar, and last time I was there, the Co-Op over in Marketplace had a Pleasure Island-specific display (above a cashier counter) that featured props from a number of the clubs, including Scooter the peacock from Adventurers Club, a surfboard from R&R Beach Club, a Pleasure Island sign, and a few other things.

Cool video, I never knew about this place. It’s sad, I feel I was born a decade too late.

I remember going to pleasure island in 2005 for grad night. I had such an amazing time. Too bad they closed it.

The Adventurers' Club was absolutely THE BEST. I miss it and can't believe it's gone... there's no other place like it, as far as I know.

PI was a great place. Used to go back in the early 90s. Such a shame it closed. Disney Springs is boring

Some of the absolute best times of my life were enjoyed at PI back in the 90's. Too bad they messed up by letting it be free admission to walk the island

Oh yes, we absolutely need a video dedicated to Pleasure Island! I started visiting PI on my first trip to EDW in 1994, just before getting 21. That meant I wasn‘t allowed in Mannequins yet. But I went to Adventure‘s Club all night every night with several visits to the Comedy Warehouse between. Thursday was Cast Members night and the wildest. I loved the dancing in the street and the nightly New Years Eve celebrations. Sadly, they went away when PI dropped the gate admission and you could visit the island for free, only needing admission to enter the clubs. Whenever I was at WDW, nights were very short staying there until closing at 1AM almost every night and having the alarm go off at 7AM in order to be ready for early admission at the parks 😂

The real reason pleasure is closed is simple: The same way Disney’s pleasure Island ran Church Street station out of business, when Universal Studios opened up CityWalk nobody wanted to go to pleasure Island anymore. It was old news and the names, brands, and themes of CityWalk were more popular and more well-known.

Forgot to mention, the Comedy Warehouse was the place where I was introduced to the amazing talent of pianist Carol Steiner, who later played at Epcot as the Hat Lady in the Rose & Crown Pub and the American Adventure as pre-show entertainment. The Auld Lang Syne at the end of the video even made me shed some tears in memory of PI!

So if they kept charging admission none of this would ever happen and we'd still have Paradise Island today?

You omitted The Jazz Company, which opened in 1983 and lasted for the remainder of the island's time. I was one of the first people hired for the island, having watched it being built over the course of 3 years, and I transferred from the Empress Lilly, where I worked for the first 12 years of my eventual 25. I opened Mannequins, then opened the Jazz Company, and finally worked 3 years at 8Trax. I was at Pleasure Island for the last 13 years of my time there. The original admission was a couple of ticket options; for a single club or a combination of clubs. In the legend of the island, Mannequins rotating floor was used for the construction of locomotives. XZFR was pronounced Zephyr. You also didn't mention the club that replaced the Fireworks Factory restaurant, which was Motion. Otherwise, fairly informative.

Wow, how fantastic you have such a history with the place. I love the jazz club and they have the best crème brûlée! What is your opinion of why they truly decided to close?
