When I lived in the states, I had a few Dr Grabow's, the only one I really liked was the "Author" couldn't find one here in England until I found Invicta Briars who had the same shape, less the filter, which I never liked.

Great video as always, Doug. Those are two nice pipes that I'm sure you'll find much enjoyment from for years to come. Tonight, I smoked the pipe that I started out with; a $5 Missouri meersham corn cob. Looking forward to the new series.

I have a few older estate Dr Grabow's along with some Kaywoodie's, Yello Bole's & Medico's purchased from e bay. I try to find the lightly used ones in really good condition that I can smoke and I try to keep the purchase price at $20 or below including shipping & tax. If you are persistent you can find them.. Then I found a couple of old wooden pipe stands to place them in. So I have a nice little starter set going that looks cool on the desktop along with some other vintage tobacco tin's, s, etc. I have maybe $200 or so invested so far in the whole shebang. Vintage Americana. I do plan to purchase a new Grabow Royalton soon as these are really cool looking pipes for the money.

The secret seems to be finding the sellers that deal in wanting to move stuff in general, not the sellers that are specifically into reselling old pipes.

Vintage Dr. Grabow's are good quality. I have six of them mainly from ebay and Professor Walker. Quality and budget friendly, can't go wrong

I am also from mi. Got a dr grabow riviera I like straight pipes too much of a wet smoker for the bent stems . Enjoy having a filter bought the pipe at wild bills was able to inspect it before buying. Paid more than you’d pay online Brick and mortar . Been a great smoker so far. Do like another cheap pipe it’s a Rossi but can’t get on with it not accepting a filter. But when I want unfiltered it’s pretty good just hate the spit falling down into the bowl as it’s a bent stem

Ya, that can be a pain. One thing that helps me when smoking a non filter, is to run a soft pipe cleaner down the stem when it starts to gurgle. Takes all the moisture right out.

I have several Grabows, not a bad smoker in the bunch. It took some time to get used to the Omega, but after a few bowls and carbon cake buildup, it is a great little smoker. My Cardinal I dedicated to Lane's Ready Rubbed, it's the only blend I've smoked in it since I got it. My Grand Duke is a wonderful Virginia pipe, I have others as well, but like I said, not a bad smoker in the bunch and a piece of Americana as well. Pipe on

Next time you are looking to ad a pipe to your rotation take a look at Brigham. They are a Canadian brand and I’ve had good luck with min. Just a few bucks more than my Grabows, and they smoke just fine. The rock maple inserts do a good job of dealing with the moisture as well.

They are cheap solid smokers I bring a grand duke to work along with something cheap like half and half or captain black always a good smoke

I only have one Grabow-a Royalton. From what I’ve seen the finish is better on that series. For smokers they’re hard to beat for the price.

No shame in a Grabow. I have two, and both of them smoke like champs. They aren’t the prettiest, but otherwise serve their purpose. Better to have a stable full of budget briars and cobs, than to blow your whole wad on a more expensive briar that you are gonna beat the hell out of if you don’t have a rotation.
