The truth is Simon was able to save Nia. This is because Simon has already become a cosmic being by being able to realize Gurren Lagann on a galactic scale and defeating the Anti-Spiral. His colleagues who were with him must have noticed to some extent that he could do anything with Simon's power. However, Simon quietly walked away without using the power of spiral energy. The concept of the double helix that he mentioned may have been due to the wishes of those who have died (including the Anti-Spiral) and to save the universe for those who will live in the future, that is, to refrain from the indiscriminate use of spiral energy, which is the maintenance of the Anti-Spiral. Although he was able to save not only Nia but also the deceased Grendan members and Kamina, there was Simon's intention not to accelerate the Spiral Nemesis.

Saving Nia would have nothing to do with the Spiral Nemesis, though. My personal headcanon is that Nia's death was faked in order to avoid people going after her for being the Anti-Spiral messenger- after all, they went after Simon for far less. It doesn't make sense that Simon would give up on his promise. He said it himself- he'd save the girl AND the universe. He rejected the false dichotomy the Anti-Spirals proposed and there's no reason for him to do a 180 on that.

@@elementgermanium It's a matter of principle. Because once you break it once, what's stopping you from breaking it again? You and those that come after you. He had to make a hard line to make sure the spiral nemesis doesn't happen. Remember, the people that make excuses, exemptions, etc. are the people that turn out like Rossiu. It's like microtransactions in video games, let one cosmetic horse armor in, and now look at the video game landscape. Revive one person, and soon enough people will be reviving left and right even if not by simon's hands.

@@belldrop7365 Reviving people wouldn't cause the Spiral Nemesis, PERIOD. The Spiral Nemesis was technically physically possible, as had been realized by both the Anti-Spirals and Simon- but it was not a threat. (Warning: this comment contains high levels of overanalysis lol) The AS explicitly described how it would occur: mass loss of control over Spiral Power leading to each affected lifeform becoming a galaxy. The mass generated collapses into a black hole of universal scale, destroying everything. The problem is twofold, though. First, each lifeform in question needs enough Spiral Power to form a galaxy, a level we've only seen in Team Dai-Gurren themselves. Second, there has to be enough of them in one place- one or two new galaxies isn't a threat. You'd need one Spiral warrior for each galaxy, and there are a hundred billion galaxies in the universe. That's an entire solar system's worth of population, each having Spiral Power equal to the best of the best we see in the anime, and they ALL have to simultaneously lose control of it. Since resurrecting someone does not create a galactic power-level Spiral warrior (unless the deceased was one, I suppose), the practice is unrelated to the Spiral Nemesis. One could perhaps argue the possibility of losing control in the process, but this would apply equally to literally any use of Spiral Power EVER, and if you try to restrict that you end up right back at the tyranny of the Anti-Spirals. This was the whole point of Simon's promise in the final battle. He rejected the idea that Spiral Power led inevitably to destruction, and pledged to protect both Nia AND the universe. He has absolutely no reason to stop at the eleventh hour.

And you know people ain't gonna stop with just that inch if you start giving it. SImon is the one in the forefront of this power. if he says don't do it, don't do it. I still hate that Nia died. There were enough sacrifces to keep intact the theme of the series, there was no need for another "test". The ending is still amazing nonethenless

If authors wanted her to survive they could have just have had her survive, nothing before the final episode suggested that if anti spiral was gone so would have her. It's mean to be the final proof that Simon and humanity in general won't abuse spiral power but as I said I don't think it was necessary
