Bought an old 3.6 manual banger 2 weeks ago with the intent of tidying up the body work and maybe flipping it. Drove it back up to Scotland from Nuneaton at between 80 & 100 squiggly maroonies - touch wood, nothing's arrived in the mail yet. Took a 65 mile round trip on a Scottish B road to figure out she is a keeper. Bushes and rubbers are a bit knackered but boy what a great car. Far ahead of Porsche when it comes to to rear steering!

This is an incredible video. You are spot on, I have the same car, few years older but very similar. It's a joy to drive, now! After lots of modernising, poly bushes, springs etc all round. It glides down the motorway and is so comfortable.

96 stright 6 XJS convertible in the US here...BTW I am a Brit 🇬🇧🙂...I Love the car and it's definitely a head Turner and conversation piece(you really don't see them here in the US in fact only seen 3 in the 30+ years living here)...Only problem I have is....no one knows how to fix them not even most Jag dealerships now...only one guy I found who had worked on them from the 90s from a dealership and he is over 3hrs away and not going to be there much longer due to retiring 😢...love this vid and car...thank you for the upload!!

Still the car I'm looking for, 3.6 manual... Lovely video, thanks for the video!

Looking at the way the gearstick is moving around I would say you need a new gearbox mounting ( doughnut ) , they always fail. Lovely set up though the 3.6 with a manual box , had a cabriolet wish I had kept it.

No one has got the compromise between ride and handling better than Jaguar has. Some make cars that ride better, some make them that handle better, but none eclipse the ride/handling nexus that Jaguar achieved. That Aston Martin used the same platform for its DB7 is testimony to this fact.

Thought I recognised these roads and then confirmed it when you went past the Wyle Cop. I'll give you a wave if I see you in my 1988 Dorchester Grey 3.6 manual 👋

I love the XJS...I have owned two...so far. Could not help but smile at the ‘park’ position of the wipers. Be careful with those headlights....i don’t think there are any left.

I have a pair in good condition because I put US headlights on my XJS, which I find more beautiful.

What exhaust does the car in your video have on it? The acceleration is quick and smooth! WOW

Standard exhaust on this as far as I know.. Not my car, just fortunate enough to borrow a lovely example which I have driven quite a lot! Glad you enjoyed the video :)

I've got a '77 XJ-S in the same colour but with rust in all the areas you highlighted... and more. It'll be a project for someone but I don't think I can do it.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in EU :-( In Germany the Green party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing petrol stations to only one station per city. :-(

Thank you. I agree with your comment regarding tyres with a generous sidewall. Put a set of Michelin XWX 205 70s on it. You will not regret it. I remember being informed years ago that UK motorway cops insisted on the XWXs for their XJ6s. Blimey this sounds like an advert! My point is, low profile tyres are for the track. I recognised the English bridge, so you are in Shropshire. The state of the roads there are a disgrace. I'm currently on the look out for a sage green or black 3.6 XJS. I want to try fitting a modern manual gearbox to it. Not sequential, just new technology.
