11:38 the automated gear changes at lower speeds are 100% because they had to lower the emissions when cruising somehow. That's why it jumps around and feels off because it's constantly searching for lower emissions in the city. Thankfully not because the gearbox wouldn't suit city driving or that Lamborghini wouldn't know how to program gear changes. Maybe there could be custom unofficial mappings for better changes some day.

Great review as allays. the first scent would have love to see the car come from the far distance into view with the head lights sweeping through the lenses. An amorphous lens would have been a killer.

I’m not sure what you mean, but it’s a hypercar, so it’s got minimal ground clearance and suspension travel. California roads are less than perfect and it’s remarkably comfortable.

15:40 The SVJ time is really important though because it's the fastest time for a naturally aspirated engine production car and no car can beat it in the future because the cars that will beat this time won't be NA and most likely will have electric assistance, so the SVJ is the fastest NA production car around the track forever. AKA it's the fastest/greatest and last true supercar ever made.

@@BrianMakse Yes it's flawed but still if there was a faster NA car than the SVJ that manufacturer would have had a faster laptime done than the SVJ time. Nurburgring is not bad for comparing high end supercars in my opinion even if there would be 10 sec of variation depending on conditions because just getting in the ballpark of 6:44:94 requires an incredible package and a driver who feels confident in the car. If manufacturers use trickery to shave off some time it doesn't really matter because other manufacturers can do the same too just like there isn't a big sport where multiple athletes aren't cheating with as many drugs as they can get away with. What i'm saying is the same reasons what make the track unreliable to accurately test laptimes make it a great track because it's such a demanding and dangerous track to beat lap records in that when there is a record it means that is a really capable car and the manufacturer knows what it's doing. And many other race tracks are worse because big size supercars like SVJ wouldn't be able to go fast because they are much slower tracks and then smaller and lighter cars would perform better which would give a bad result because true performance and balance is tested at higher speeds.

I’m in the market for my first Aventador roadster. You mentioned how the SVJ was substantially better than the “base” models. If I was to get the “base” model for around town driving would I ever kick myself?

If you're going to tool around town and not take it to the track, you'll enjoy it thoroughly. The regular Avendator has more than enough of that exotic hypercar presence than you could ever desire. Always happy to answer any questions you may have.

Anyone else prefer the aesthetic of the original Aventador, In my opinion looks so much more refined and looked like a master had spent years labouring over the curves and lines, it has an actuated spoiler/side vents to complement the seamless smooth look. Whereas the SVJs look like a boy racer who won the lottery just went all out on the original just adding more vents at random, more scoops and folds, a big skirt and big complex wing, more big writing on it
