Not only am I glad he is doing well it is nice to see a company that cares about the drivers. I hope he heals up and is back in the saddle soon. I cannot believe no one stopped, people suck. I would have called 911 and stopped to check on him and I have a broken back, I am just sick of how people have become in the USA. Even 20 years ago people were better, not much but you would think someone would stop to check on him. Vehicles are replaceable is right, good people are not.

I just wanted to add how times have changed..........a driver I know that was in a crash where the cab was thrown completely off the truck, instinctively went to get on the CB radio for help......Jay went looking for his phone. Just shows the quality of most people today. How anyone could drive by ANY serious accident before Police or EMS is on scene and not stop to see if they can help, or at least make the 911 call is completely beyond comprehension. I've stopped many times, and I'd hope others would stop if it were me involved in an accident. That could have turned out a lot worse, the truck can be replaced, good to hear the driver is on the mend.

I lost the left front tire off of a single axle straight job some years ago. I was on route 81 just a bit south of Scranton and I fell a vibration so I left my foot off the throttle and was planning to pull over and the left front tire and wheel came off and was rolling next to me. Talk about Sparks when the axle hit the ground. I'm not sure if it was skill or luck or maybe some combination of both but I eased it over to the right and stopped on the shoulder. Considering what had happened, it was really uneventful. Then I got really lucky , once I put out my triangles and made sure the tire wasn't laying in the middle of the highway some guy in a minivan stopped to see if I was okay. Somehow even though he was Mexican and barely spoke English I found out he was headed for my town of hazleton, so he gave me a ride to the front door of my shop. I handed him 40 bucks and he didn't want to take it, but I insisted. I got in the shop and my tractor was already connected to my landoll so I just ran up route 81 turned around came back down picked up the truck and left for home. I think from the time the tire fell off until I had the truck up on my landall and chain down ready to roll was about an hour and a half if that. Amazing what adrenaline could do. Never even had to talk to a cop thank God. Back in the day, one of my friends sent his driver out with a load of cars heading to the shredding plant on one of those junk car trailers you see they only has one side. A piece of one car must have been sticking up too high and it caught a bridge beam on Richmond Street in Philadelphia. It laid the trailer and the r model Mac pulling it right on its side. He was only about half a mile away at the yard so he jumped on his 20,000 lb Clark forklift and ran up there and stood the truck back up, then loaded the cars back on and the guy following him in the service truck put some oil back in the truck. It did some damage to battery cables when it went over so he pushed them with the forklift and had to driver pop the clutch to get the engine going. The driver had just left with the truck and that's when the police showed up, boy were they p - off. I'm not sure exactly how they got out of that legal mess, but the truck did actually belong to a guy with serious political clout. He was just letting my buddy use it because he was selling him all the scrap cars. That was probably in the '90s. And we had some seriously capable help around. Both my buddy and the driver have passed now, my body a few years back from pancreatic cancer, and I'm not sure what the driver died from I kind of forget but he had would have been well into his 80s by now. I often think that if I had a few good guys like that around now, I could conquer the world.

Hey Jay, glad to see your mending well and seem to be in good spirits! I will keep you in my prayers brother and we will keep praying that things go well as you continue to heal! You took a pretty good lick there and it’s gonna take a few days to get things healed up but please, listen to the docs and do what they say. I had a bad fall in 2000 and tried getting back to work before docs said I should and I think I’m the long run it had a big effect on my long term health and I’m not where I should be today because of it and it may not of mattered but I’ll never know now so just do what they say, they know more than we do and it’s worth listening to. Take care brother!!

This accident reminds me of an accident I came up on here in Milwaukee, WI a few years ago where a dump truck driver had his bucket lift up on him & he hit an bridge overpass. As I came around an off ramp corner with my Pete & a 48 foot trailer, I started to see debris on the freeway. Than I saw the back end of what was left of the bucket laying in the middle of the freeway, & noticed the upside down truck laying on the other side of the bridge overpass. The driver was sitting down on the freeway, I put my flashers on & pulled off to the shoulder to call 911 as it apparently just happened. The overturned truck was still smoking & the axle wheels were still spinning. What a mess. This driver didn't have his seatbelt on & when his bucket hit the bridge, his truck did like a wheelie, & he was thrown out the windshield. He survived the accident with many broken bones. Terrible. Blown steer tire, Jay was along for the ride. I hope people understand that. Many folks will offer their suggestions but like Jay says the blowout will last an eternity , until what ever is going to happen happens. To Jay, Best wishes for a speedy recovery, I hope you're able to get back out in a truck again.

So let me get this straight, you met 2 strangers, in the dark, late at night, all alone, to do a cash deal for a forklift they didn't know how to drive, and had to load it onto a trailer they just "got", but didn't know how to use, that was supposedly going out of the country the next morning. Didn't look like they bothered to secure it to the trailer either. Hmmmm what could possibly go wrong with that transaction. You sir are a brave man. Glad to see your driver is going to be ok in the end. Like you said earlier in the other video, trucks can be easily replaced. Family can't. You are correct, in that the Bible is quite clear that no one is promised a tomorrow. Glad to see he will get a few more.

If you hit the gas instead of the brakes it might have turned out better, hitting the brakes is the worst thing to do when a tire blows

glad for the driver is ok could of been worst then a broken leg. hope for full recovery. shame on people not stopping and check on the driver. braking on a steer tire blow is no no

Biggest mistake that drivers make is to Applied the brakes instead A operator should accelerate to keep gravity motion forward and take control of vehicle.

Jay glad your ok the truck can be replaced you did everything you could do when you only have seconds to respond your first reaction is to try to stop or slow it down you did what any of us would of done and with me being a volunteer fire fighter its horrible that no one stopped to help or at least be with you until help arrived so to everyone out there stop and if anything else call 911 and update the dispatcher to the condition of the person involved it could make the difference in the amount of resources that they send quickly to an accident like that

It’s “like 11:30 at night,” but your clock behind you shows ~12:20~. Definition of “like” = I don’t know what time it is. 😎 Thanks, I hear so many people saying “like” and it never made sense what they thought the word “like” actually meant. Wonder on more world...

@@flintcreektransport lol? Retired English instructors see it differently. At least “like” was not in every sentence. 😉

One other thing when a steer tire blows you never hit the breaks and very slowly let off the throttle there are actually videos on KZbin describing what you do in the situation
