I like Tropical Fuck Storm better.. but the Drones were definitely great. Sad it seems like good audio art is dying. Completely capitalized at this day and age. I've even started doing visual art because I am so disgusted by the way of things. And the first incarnation of my band started when I was 12...28 years ago. Gave my life to music. Music has sold itself out. My visual art is cool though and I have recorded over 200 songs...I put it on shuffle and it is my own personal radio station where I hand crafted every song to my liking. Sure it took 1000s of hours. Totally worth it. And now my music studio is 'The Zoo.' If someone breaks into my house and turns on a like...they will scream and run away in fear.

Late as fuck for me to say but as far as I know it stemmed from Liddiard's comments about Andrew Bolt in Taman Shud - Bolt got pissed and cried about 'drones bad' in an article, and presumably a lot of people decided the optimal course of action was to express their disgrace by clicking the dislike button on a bunch of TFS records videos.
@Majigitajog3 жыл бұрын
@@odrithingamajig Close, but Bolt himself sent the bots. The number was disproportionate, on this and anything Liddiard related. New TFS record circa 2021 seems to have totally, and finally been off a political radar. Seems TFS are more content on leaving the planet rather than critiquing their "country"

i love all of the new stuff being performed - it is an excellent set - but am sort of shocked at the exclusion of "sharkfin blues"...and not one tune from wait long by the river. that song/album is their chestnut or barnstormer if there is one. then again, i think they have played that song at every show since its release. regardless - the drones are the mightiest band on the planet right now and have been for years, and gareth liddiard is prolly the best lyricist i have ever heard. the man has a gift for the gab, that is for sure. i say this as an american who has never even been to australia.

Gaz came at me sideways cuz I was digging Kim Gordon's new record, which led me to Tropical Fuck Storm. Gaz and Fi from the Drones get together with Erica Dunn and and Lauren Hammel to form this insanely fun concept, Tropical Fuck Storm. As I dig deeper, I find this trove of The Drones. So much here, so much incredible music and songwriting here, how have we not heard from this insane band up here? They are fire. Caught three shows of TFS tour, every one was pretty much the same set, but of course, a bit different. Would've loved to have heard one of the Maria's, Eugene, or any Drones song, but this Gang of Four continues to tighten up while somehow managing to simultaneously unleash their chaos. Fucking fire they are.
