My guess for Captivating performance: at least one of the types on your bonus action must be a new type you haven't taken yet this turn, but it's okay if some of its types overlap. To trigger it you must take 3 actions, which between them have at least 3 different action types, with no two actions in the sequence having identical types. So: Suppose you play Clean Them Out (play/fight), then activate a Machete (activate/fight), then activate Sixth Sense (activate/investigate). I think this should count as taking three different action in a row because each action was of a new type not yet used in the sequence: play, then activate, then investigate. Now we trigger Captivating Performance to take a bonus action. The bonus action "must be of a different type" meaning it must have a type not used yet: draw, engage, evade, move, or resource. I think we should be allowed to activate Blur here, or play Sneak By.

The problem is you are going through many hoops to get a bonus action that may or not be even useful for 3 exp and 3 cost asset, which seems kinda steep.

Memories of Another Life in Sefina for Thorough Inquiry. All In: "What am I, a joke to you?" In seriousness, Memory is one of the goddamn coolest cards theyve ever printed. I will 100% be Dynamite Blasting as Luke in the future and that one scenario alone has me stoked.

Note: 17:15 Dr. Charles West III: Knows His Purpose also wants to see an successful an investigation check by 1 or 3. 36:00 "In player order, each investigator draws the top card of the encounter deck" and "You choose the investigator order during the mythos phase." I imagine this means you actually choose the order in full, because there is no order if it is done stepwise. Also nice combo with foresight 38:00 deliverance: can't cancel the mythos phase cards, but you can deny existence effects

I do kind of want to see a full seal team, the dial, The Chthonian Stone, Protective Incantation, and whatever seal stuff gets released in this set.
@RolandIronfist133 күн бұрын
When talking about Correlate, RI said all the science stuff is on 0 2 or 4, but Empirical Hypothesis, this, and the ally asset care about odd number successes. The chemistry set is on evens, but that is not the test on correlate anyway. Steady handed is exactly 2. and Lucius' signature is from a failure to success on 0. From what we've seen its quite a mix.

One thing people are missing about dial(0), it uses charges. You can just drop 3 on them with skills, event, etc and then see an evade for the 4th charge + the trigger.

I find Deliverance a *fascinating* card. The first place I thought of it working well is some sort of soak-based guardian/mystic (go, my sled dogs!) Guardian is already kind of based around face-tanking the mythos phase, so with enough mystic support you should be able to shrug off that danger in exchange for quite a bit of mitigation for the team next turn. Also, only the cards are uncancellable. Deny Existence is still a totally fine response to failing one of the 4 or 5 encounter cards you draw, and the 5xp version will let you weather another blow. And just because I noticed this while researching, ironic fact: There is exactly one investigator who has an attribute-based deckbuilding requirement ("X-Y spirit cards") that lets them include Deliverance. Better yet, they're likely to have the stats needed to survive any encounter card in the deck! Yes, Deliverance is technically a Calvin Wright card. Is this a *good* card in a Calvin Wright deck? Probably not. Is it a hilarious way to get damage on him quickly? Absolutely. EDIT: And while thinking about it more, there's something to be said in that it basically gives everyone else on your team three uninterrupted investigator phases in a row. Yes, you might be spending entire turns doing damage control, but everyone else gets to plan with as close to perfect information as arkham horror will allow. EDIT EDIT: Good lord I like how well this card pairs with red gloved man. Play him for 6s, then deliverance next turn and use those inflated stats to weather the storm of 5 encounters in a row, soaking damage and horror for you along the way. Again, I don't think Deliverance will ever be an autoinclude in any kind of deck, but it's a design that's full of possibilities and interesting interactions. A lot of the stuff shown so far is the kind of cards I want to see going forward, it's like FFG is channeling the golden age of netrunner and MtG design. I'm excited to finally get The Drowned City into my grubby little hands.
@sevento72 күн бұрын
The three uninterrupted investigator phases is what gets me hooked. Clue finders do not have to fear enemies. Fighters get most enemies concentrated at one place and Aoe damage finally can be useful. Deliverance is the most interesting card for me by a mile.
@LittleBlueJug3 күн бұрын
I think deliverance is possibly sick in *drumroll* 4p Calvin Wright with Shrine of the Moirai. If you've gotten your stats and survivability to a certain point, so like the latter half of a campaign, you can collect all of the threats for basically 4 turns after reoccuring it with the shrine and allow your allies to function without risk.
@WayOfHaQodesh2 күн бұрын
Whooooooo, so pumped for this new investigator box. Really interesting thoughts and opinions brother. I am actually pretty hyped for deliverance more as a self sacrificial card for the usually self centered demon summoning mystics. It's a way they can towards the end of a campaign sac themselves say in a 4 p team, to buy their team a final push with zero mythos, which is a gold pocket watch ability with a nice self sacrificial twist at much less xp. I'm also sure there mystics that could easily laugh at 5 encounter cards, Luke and any other absurdly powerful gators. Barnaby and the discard archetype is the, THE best though.... Ahhh man so hype.

I feel like there are a lot of neat cards for Luke in this set: 2x Mortar and pestle together with the existing Robes of Endless Night makes for pretty consistent spell discounts. Especially nice if your read the signs(2) come back every turn. Spiritual echo: a bot better if you can put it at an connecting location Deliverance: discard the upcoming enemies in your dreams. Memories of another life: free leo? sure Captivating performance, because 4 actions a round is not enough True awakening: get a clue and draw 2, not bad or heal if you really need it.

I wish Agatha's deckbuilding was a bit more cross class. I wish she was seeker 0-5 spell 0-3 and mystic 0-5 insight 0-3. It doesn't change a whole lot for the seeker side but the it would open up seekers economy and card draw to a full mystic pool besides Luke. Edit: I see I missed the level 0 splash which should make it feel a little better. Whispers of Doom is something I'd love to see more of. High action efficiency with doom as a potential downside. Spiritual Echo is going to be fun tech in Luke, its an event so you can play it next door to rite of seeking in 2 places without moving to the second one.
@RatherIncoherent2 күн бұрын
The Luke use-case for Echo is pretty legit. Essentially, it just lets you clear locations you've never gone to with relative ease.

One consideration for Dial of ancients is Yellow agatha. Both Cataclysm and Revelation can turn on her ability, even if cataclysm is out of charges. The biggest issue is identification but one note is that others can help her identify (enemies must be evaded but it doesn't have to be her evading it)
@danielgilson47313 күн бұрын
Note about Agatha: her signature specifically seals a non-symbol, so you can't seal the autofail. Additionally it means that even taking 3+ tests a turn will sometimes fail to trigger her ability if you just reveal skulls and stuff
@emergency.jergens3 күн бұрын
Gloria’s weakness may not be that bad. It only forces you to “choose it” and then put her beneath her, if you see more than one you can only choose anyway based on your ability.
@RatherIncoherent3 күн бұрын
Oh shit, you're right. I no longer feel any fear whatsoever and her new options might be almost strictly better than the book stuff.
@mechtroidProductions2 күн бұрын
I'm really sad that Memories of Another life doesn't let you choose skills. And completely understand why, because "Forbidden" is technically a deckbuilding requirement. We were so close to getting Double or Nothing back in the silliest way possible.
@astutedunsparce40362 күн бұрын
I don't usually play cluevers, but Agatha's deckbuilding is among my favorites in the box so far. It makes me appreciate that each version works for both Spells and Insights regardless of which version you choose since there is a good amount of each in either version's deckbuilding. Initially I scoffed at her deck size being 35, but her ability does remove cards from the game and her weakness does shuffle back in, so the more you use her ability, the more likely you are to see her weakness over and over. Very nice design.
@RatherIncoherent2 күн бұрын
I agree with that, her design being elegant and the sort of thing that's probably healthy for the game. It's just not eye-catching to me the way that George and Marion are. It's the sort of thing where I'm happy to wait for the full package, and struggle to gauge what her final deck is (which is pretty important to me as I tend to view investigators AS the decks that they run) without seeing the support package that can ship with her.
@DAMNnext3 күн бұрын
Good Weather stays one round in play. Or am I wrong? So it is mythos protection for the hole team. +2 brain as a support card? For frozen in fear or a mystic cluever sounds fine. Maybe this changes the way you see the card.

Does Gloria’s signature work with perils?
@RatherIncoherent3 күн бұрын
Peril specifies that other investigators cannot even play card cards to interact with it, so her signature doesn't interact. That said, there's a very high chance that Gloria just knows the peril is coming and draws it to herself, effectively negating the peril keyword and letting her cancel with the new signatures.
@VixRideo3 күн бұрын
Prophecy of the End only triggers on the one additional looked at card for Gloria, right? I don't think you can end up with multiple ones with one single action, as only one card ever only qualifies when using the ability.

There's already a better card for Burn After Reading to exile: Signum Crucis. With the taboo, it costs 0 experience to purchase it. Memories of Another Life in Parallel Father Mateo just reads "Choose one: Draw 5 cards (making it better than Cryptic Research or All In), gain 8 resources, discover 2 clues (Extensive Research), deal 3 damage (Dynamite Blast), or move up to three times (Scout Ahead)"
