If you're referring to the last instrument i added on the 2nd beat that's actually a vocal choir patch from a free plugin called Spitfire Audio LABS. I cut the low end and added a pumper filter from waves

Great video! Teletone audio stuff is TOP NOTCH I love it, retrograde for me is up there with the Rickenbacker as the best bass library, I find myself alternating between the two it depends on the song soulfi as well as addictive are my go to for drums, not enough people know about how to really process addictive to make it really sound like a vintage break, it requires quite a few different plugins ie vintage emulations(NEOLD/ UAD ETC) and plugins like melda transformer(I'm giving you some sauce there add it to your food :), people often put the one or two plugin on it and call it a day when it can be taken so much further

If you mix you drums too loud to begin with, the compressor tries to control the dynamics...vs..if you mix you drums kinda "mid" loud....it feels like the compressor beefs up the dynamics....that's just me...

I think the compressor is useful when fixing problems. Too much compression and the transients won't be anywhere to be found.... In exchange you get a loud but flat mix.
