If only the "Historic Preservation" Commission of Hillsborough, NJ had the same understanding of the Duke family and valued the beauty of the mansion there. It is sad and tragic that the Duke Farms Foundation was allowed to level the Duke Mansion at Duke Farms.

History IS an important factor in the challenges every generation does and will encounter. However, no more prevalent than today, does the most important point remain than, "reality of that history in the ethics of it's facts". Without the facts, it is merely a relic and promotion of "self-interest tradition" - Dig up and place out front - the "SOCIAL and ECONOMIC FACTS" for our children to know and use as guides to their important and society's necessary decisions.

I think that Doris Duke was one of the Tobacco family who owned the last private house,1009 5th Avenue.

The house was sold when Doris was still a teenager, very soon after James Duke's death.
