MeAndMineTv V10s and V12s aren't nearly as common as V8s and the cars they come in are usually very expensive... I'm not saying you have to have the most powerful car possible, but I am saying you should opt for the biggest engine possible that is offered for the vehicle you're interested in because if not you're just fooling yourself. Put it this way you don't buy a luxury vehicle and not get leather seats, and you don't buy a truck and not get 4x4... and you don't buy a "performance" vehicle and get the weaker performing engine lol

I respect a V6. They are the under dogs for sure. I like under dogs. I have also noticed the toxic anti-V6 mentality. V6 modern muscle is pretty fast actually. Just as fast as the 1960s V8's. Plus v6 saves more at the gas pump. I mainly love a V8 though For that authentic narly sound...without a custom exhaust set up. But that sound comes at a price.

Not every V8 owner is a jerk. Yes some are but a lot are not. Same as V6 guys. You have your tool bags who drive those as well. I have a 14 Camaro SS with bolt ons. And yes it's manual. But I look at it this way. I have always bought the cars that i want. Not for anyone else. I've had 4 bangers, V6's and V8's. I love them all. But no matter what I drive, I could give a rats ass what you drive. Makes no difference to me. I drive what I like and never knock anyone for what they like. Joaquin Reyes Not if it's an auto. The auto had a weaker engine with worse gears, less torque, and more weight. Surprisingly a tune only V6 with performance pack(summer tires, stiffer suspension , 2010 GT brakes, and better geared at 3.31 in stead if 2.73) would keep up with an Auto SS because of almost 400lbs weight difference between the two cars. Manual V6's weight was 3450lbs And the SS weight was ~3850lbs (Both without driver 😳)...

Exactly. The reason most people hate on the V6 is it used to offer much less performance. That is no longer the case. The new V6 is a fantastic engine, and the new chassis is incredible. This is coming from an LS1 SS owner. If I were in the market for a new Camaro, I'd take a long hard look at a V6 1LE.

I think the main reason people ask why u got a v6 is because people don't understand that why are u buying a PERFORMANCE car, and not get the engine to optimize the performance of the vehicle. Also those track days were more about the driver than the car.

I think what a lot of people miss when it comes to performance cars is, the driver has to get the performance out of the car for it to perform optimally. Jeremy Bryant the 3.6L makes 1.47HP/Cin, the 6.2L makes 1.17HP/Cin. Technology in the V6 is better than the V8. For example, if my Liter (1000cc) bike made the same amount of HP per cubic inch as a 6.2L camaro, I’d have a whopping 71Hp.. that’s the equivalent of a 1000cc cruiser. Not good. The 3.6L on the flip side would make 91HP. My Sport bike makes 3HP per cubic inch. This argument is pretty stupid honestly. All the V8 has going for it is displacement dude.

Agreed. While I love the V8 Camaros, pound for pound, the V6 cars, (particularly the 2016+) are more potent. I've owned a 6 speed LS1 Formula. I adored it. But after driving a 2016 6 speed V6 I I was blown away by how close it felt, power-wise. The ONLY thing that I personally envy about the V8s are that beautiful, beautiful sound. However, once again those LGX V6s have a wonderful exotic aural harmony all their own. In my mind the V8 cars are the "muscle" cars, and the turbo 4 and V6 cars are the "sports" cars. And I think that it has to be said that in daily driving, it makes no difference anyway, except for the fact that the V6/I4 cars are better with fuel mileage.

I don't see the relevance anyway when it concerns the Camaro or most any car for that matter. Both the V8's and the V6's are limited to 155 MPH. The most prevalent way to exceed that speed is to buy a tune and override the car's computer (warranty void). IF involved in an accident, that would also count against you (insurance payout). Plus where would you get to drive 155 MPH on city streets / HWY? Unless you live in Germany and can drive the autobahn, anything over 100 MPH is considered reckless driving (license gone). Unless your a track / drag racer, the point is mute. In my opinion both are essentially the same on US roadways. What matters is, are you happy with the car?

A lot of people think my 2003 Holden VY Commodore is a V8... it’s just a V6 with a really good exhaust system that has had multiple engine modifications. I live in Australia so I’m restricted in what I can drive as I just got my Provisional Licence which is the licence after learners 😂 - I get pulled over by police because of it. People can hear me put my foot down 1-3km away. I’m 17 and you know as a teenager you tend to sneak out... hard to do with my car 😂. I simply start it and the neighbors awaken. I literally can’t use my accelerator when reversing or driving out the drive way 😂

Can you elaborate? 93hp/L in the V6 vs 73hp/L in the V8s using 87 octane getting nearly 30mpg highway... and a good launch will get you 0-60 in less than 5 seconds. In a V6. The V8s are quicker 0-60 and in the 1/4 mile. The lighter weight of the V6 cars mitigates much of the power difference, as well as provides returns on braking and handling.

Modern v6 engines are pushing 300+ HP which is what old V8 engines put out and that’s pretty impressive if you ask me. 300+ is nothing to scoff at. That’s plenty for the average driver considering your average sedan with a 4 cylinder puts out about 130-180, sometimes 200HP depending on the car. I went from a little Nissan juke pushing 187 HP so believe me when I say when I bought my challenger v6 I felt the immediate difference. Never had I been in a car that pushed me back in my seat a little. Get the car that you’re most comfortable with and most importantly what you can afford. V6 muscle cars are great. You get the best of both worlds, the looks and affordability. Mileage is great too. Don’t mind people who down you cause it’s not a V8. 9 out of 10 times the shit talkers don’t even have a muscle car themselves. At the end of the day, it’s your car. Own it. Because you’re the one paying for it every month and driving it every day. Not the keyboard warrior who says v6 muscle cars are dumb, when he probably doesn’t even have a car.

I've got a 6th gen v6 camaro, bigger gear ratio, 4000 stall and it's FBO and e85. I get asked all the time "what engine is that?" Bc the LFX and lgx engines sound a bit more like a European v6, and as soon as I say v6.... They go ahhhh nevermind. I gapped a scatpack and he still screams "still a v6" after. My v6 camaro with a zf 8 speed gets laughed at (new supra has that transmission). My v6 camaro that has the same top speed stock as a coyote mustang. My right around 400hp v6 is laughed at. Imagine that. My 12.92 second v6 camaro is laughed at. It's more fun outrunning V8s in a car they say sucks. I've made a lot of believers out of coyote and hemi guys that went from a middle finger to a 🤙 from quick pulls with them and then they're cool. Coyote guys aren't as bad as the hemi guys.

Ford GT uses a V6 that will smoke every single Camaro except for ones who have been so heavily modified to where it's probably not even street legal anymore. Damn Tesla is a fricken boat but still is the fastest 0-60 production car. They should watch Motor Trend pit the times of a stock Mazda Miata against a Dodge Charger Hellcat around a track and how the Miata won by 10 seconds. Yes, the Miata was driven by a retired professional race car driver and the Dodge was driven by one of the hosts still 155 hp vs 707 hp. It's not all about engine power.

I think people think of the v6 of the old days of the 80's and 90's and having no power. But from The 2000's they started making good power over 200 hp. I think people were sleeping when this happen. But today these Have over 300 hp It makes them more powerful than the 396 BIG BLOCK V8 of the 70's. I have a v6 challenger and to be honest I love it. 305 hp and 268ft lbs of TQ stock. I went head to head with a 2017 scat pac charger and kept up with him the whole 1/4 mile to the next traffic light. Yes he obviously beat me but the front of my bumper was lined up with his front door the last half of the race, first half I was staying close to his front fender. I’ve already got a speeding ticket wishing the first month of owning it for going 86 in a 55 and to be honest it didn’t feel like I was going that fast at all. It’s a smooth ride, quick and I just love everything about it. It shouldn’t be this “oh you should have bought a v8”, yeah no shit it has more TQ and HP but it isn’t always about that. I love the expressions I get from my car when I line up and hold my own with it and they ask me if I have a v8 and I tell them it’s only a v6. The v6 has come a long way and I give it a lot of respect.

This man is a natural! HOWEVER, my argument, is simply sound. A terminator passed me on the road and I felt like I was hit by a stun grenade. From that day forward, I knew I wanted a v8 mustang. But not just any. They all sound different, and a 2 valve specifically sounding the best in my opinion. But the 4.6 3valve was the one that shook me the hardest. Also, a drag race is completely different based off of vehicle specs . Great stuff!

I always been known that no matter what You drive (V6 or V8) or how fast You think You are (again V6 or V8 or EVEN V10), there's always someone faster than You or ready to beat You to the pavement. You are right, v6 owners can beat v8 owners but that really doesn't have anything to do with it. You cannot compare it like that. You have to compare it like this. Example: If you yourself step into a v6 and a v8 camaro trying to get the best time. The v8 is going to win every time. It's all about performance the v8 has more power period. What people who buy performance cars fail to realize in their pursuit of buying one, is just because the car can perform well doesnt mean you can make it perform well. Doesn't matter what car or what engine, if you can't properly get the performance out of the car, then what you paid for and sought out to get, you're only getting a portion of its potential because you don't know how to get it all out. Anyone will go faster in a faster car than in a slower car, that's physics. But if you do one lap in my car and the next in like a 1le, you'll go faster. Don't get it either. I've got 2015 Camaro V6 with some minor mods on it and only 16K miles driven. Couldn't be happier with it. More than plenty power for me and corners great. I also have Cadillac STS-V Supercharged with 30K on it. Packs a punch indeed. Whilst STS-V is obviously in its own class in many ways, I love both of them equally.

you need to chillax, you're looking into this WAY to hard. The V6 "muscle car" will ALWAYS get ragged on that's just how it is. @@haydenhembree7015 I daily drive a 2019 Challenger SXT 3.6L V6 w/ 305 crank HP and it's more power than I really need for a commuter car. I got it because I've driven family friendly cars but now that my kids are teenagers, I decided its time for me to get the car I want. I can afford the V8 R/T Challenger but it's such a waste of HP that I don't need unless I drag race, which is an expensive hobby(upgrading or replacing parts that were over-used). So, for me, it just doesn't make sense getting a V8 except if you're drag racing at a track and daily drive a less powerful car. But, to each his own.

Well, you need to come to terms with the fact that, all other options being equal, the Camaro SS is a superior vehicle to the Camaro LS or LT. We're not talking about other cars, we're talking about Camaros. And we're not talking about the owners, we're talking about the cars. The SS is simply a better car than the LT. It performs better, will hold it's value better, and will be more collectible in the future. That really isn't a debate. And people who buy the V6 are subsidizing the people who buy the V8 because the V8 has far slimmer margins than the V6. The LT program pays for the SS to exist. The SS would cost as much as a Corvette if not for the V6 making the profits. In essence, you buying a V6 helped pay for my V8. This is true in the Mustang and Challenger world as well. So even from an economic point of view, the V6 is not a deal. It's nothing personal, so all the dick size comments and such really aren't needed. And most people ask which engine you got for the same reason they ask what year, what color, and which options. It's not a judgment, it's curiosity.
