I consider it one of the Greatest Blessings of my life to have grown up in the Mid-50's through the 60's & 70's. No matter what, no matter when, no matter where, " Have You heard" will always be a vocal treasure. Joey V & The Guys never, ever, sounded so good. When he hits the chorus, & comes in with " Haaaaaaave You hearrrrd, Of their wedding Dayyyyy? " I get tears, it's so beautiful. Wolfsky9

Late Fall, 1963, I was 17 y/o, A Senior in High School, & I fell in love with this masterpiece the 1st time I heard it; 46+ years later, it's better than ever. To Joey Vann, Mike/ John/ & Joe S., GBY Forever. Wolfsky9

When this song came out in the Fall of '63 my Dad was a senior in high school. Don't know if he liked this song or not because he never told me and I never had a chance to ask, but I love it and for some reason can picture him in his youth listening to it. He turned out to be more of a "rocker" and there's nothing wrong with that. However, he liked his Doo-Wop and I'd bet he enjoyed this in his heyday. "Have You Heard," Dad, you're missed and thought of every day.

Beautifully executed song that was actually recorded very late for the doo-wop era! I only first heard this song about a dozen years ago, though I've lived 2 score and 5 (45 years). And I also never tire of it!! Just listened to 3 of the Duprees other songs for the first time on youtube. Just a treat to listen to!!

@TommyGdVw To TommyGdVw : I was also, a Senior in High school, & in the Fall of '63, & like your Dad, I lived to hear the music. I was one of those kids who walked around with my 7 transistor radio, always hoping to hear one of " my songs". That Fall of '63, before 11/22 changed everything, " Have You Heard" was my favorite, among many, hits of that time. The song never grows old, & Joey Vann's vocal still brings me to tears. God Bless The memory of your Dad, & of that time. . Wolfsky9

Nobody had this combination of such raw but beautiful harmony (and their unison as well)as "original" Duprees....Timeless & yet a bit tragic is some sort of "romanic way" due to the history of the group, it's members & the business that swallowed them up.....

@Wolfsky9 Yes, timeless and perfect, one of those rare songs which is great from the opening note to the final. I see your comment about being a HS senior at the time of this song. I was only in 1st grade then, so it wasn't until around '69, I believe, that I first heard it, in a TV "oldies" record offer (i.e. send in 9.95, allow 6 weeks for delivery). And in those commercials, you only hear about 6 or 7 seconds of each song, and even so, I knew this song was great, hearing only a snippet.

Seldom have I played a song over and over . . even though it's a sad song for me. But, it's beautiful for very sure. I have to wonder who the back-up instrumentalists were for this recording . . . since they were only out of high school for a short while. Yes, I lived in that era. But sadly, I was rather socially "developmentally delayed" as a young man . . . and truly wish that I had been 'normal'. Peace to all.

@57highland Sir, Part of the reason lay in the timing--the song was up to #18, on 11/22/63; nothing was the same after that, & the nearly 2 week stoppage of all music on Top-40 AM radio. There were many other songs, " Forget Him" by Bobby Rydell, " I'm leaving it up to you", which made Billboard #1, but didn't in Denver--" Drip Drop" by Dion--to name a few. All were casualties of 11/22/63. Wolfsky9

This is one of their songs I wouldn't quite consider Doo-Wop, per se. They've move the sound (or musical production values) closer to the middle of the road a la The Four Lads, The Four Coins, The Four Preps, etc. Not that that's a bad thing, mind you. This might be my favorite by them on most days.

@Wolfsky9 I figured it was something like that. Unfortunate bad timing for the Duprees. Also the fact that doo-wop was almost over and the British Invasion was waiting in the wings. Too bad The Duprees didn't have composers like Bob Gaudio and Bob Crewe behind them, like the Seasons did.

@57highland It really was both timing, & when Joey Canzano--Vann--left the group & Mike Kelly took over on Lead, the guys really had to adapt to a new vocal sound. In truth, Mike & the guys did some wonderful music in the Later 60's & 70's, until The Fast Life killed Mike's voice & looks. They had a big committment from Heritage Columbia , but for whatever reasons, they didn't sustain to the early success, & no, they didn't have Bob Gaudio / Bob Crewe helping them. Wolfsky9
