Word of advice mate, if you can afford to when it comes to specific o-rings, crush washers gaskets or other things, get the OEM parts for your diesel. They are a bit pricey sometimes depending on what you need, but they are factory fitted and work perfect every time. Some vehicles are like your BMW, OEM is the only way to go for a true fit. Glad you got everything sorted and your truck back up and running mate. Hope your vacation is going great as well.

@R1Flem7 жыл бұрын
Bass Coast Central you are correct, sometimes you have no choice but to do what you need to do to get you home, but removing a fuel head unit and installing a sketchy filter adapter unnecessarily seems silly when you are a thousand miles from home.
@imautoobershooter13777 жыл бұрын
A lesson you will learn at some point is to never do anything to your vehicle away from home that isn't necessary. One of these times you will lose something or break something and it will screw up your day. Do all repairs at home unless it's an emergency repair.

Having the bleeder screw out like that will allow air to enter the filter head. Just undo the bleeder screw half way and allow the fuel to escape out the threads and then tighten down to not allow air into the system. Intital startup after a filter swap will be much quicker and easier on your starter.

If I may offer 2 suggestions, there are brass bleeder plugs available that are way better then those cheap plastic ones. Also, the Duramax responds very well to aftermarket lift pumps. And they solve the problems that come from loosing prime. My plastic bleeder lasted less then 2 filter changes.

I'm a diesel technician, I've rebuilt many starters +solenoids. cranking to that extent is not good. thanks for your input but I know from experience whether you think that's the case or not.
@acreageliving7 жыл бұрын
the bigger the motor the bigger the starter. My 68 Minneapolis moline m670 tractor still has the original starter on it, have to crank that thing for about 2 minutes before it will start in the summer, and 10 minute minimum in the winter lol. Still going but almost time for a rebuilt, going to be expensive. thanks for your input but I too know from experience. The amount he cranked in this video was not long at all. Wouldnt hurt anything, the starter would just be getting warmed up. The hardest thing on a starter is trying to crank them with weak batteries, that really burns them up. But a fast crank, it not near as hard on them.
