Watching you guys in those tunnels is doing wonders for my claustrophobia, to the point to where I'm on the verge of passing out. Your passion here is clearly seen and respected and you guys truly have Balls.

In fact, the tunnel was used. On the 13th November, in the closing days of the Somme and in what became known as the Battle of Ancre, the 51st Highland Division attacked and took Beaumont Hamel and Y Ravine. In all, three tunnels originally dug for the 1st July were reopened, the one in this video being the centre of the three,. 252 Tunnelling Company RE cleared any falls and made the opening into no-man's land. 1/2 Highland Field Company RE then emerged, and, under fire from the German support trenches, laid and blew pipe bombs up to the now captured German front line to create communication trenches to bring forward reinforcements.

Imagine being in one of these when the artillary or one of the mines went off. it happened too, when the hawthorn ridge mine detonated on july1, four German dugouts were buries, only two of which were rescued.

And it's getting even worse when you realize these tunnels are 100 years old, haven't been maintained, and as stated, suffered a lot from rain water mud slides. Bunch of madlads you are

Absolutely fascinating. Wouldn't the heavier-than-air mustard gas have settled in these tunnels?
