The Dust Bowl and the Depression

During the 1930's, Texas and the Great Plains were struck by a terrible drought, called the Dust Bowl. At the same time, the Great Depression put millions of Americans out of work. These two events would teach Texans many important lessons about the land, and how the health of it affects their society, economy and community.
