I used that tweeter as a replacement for some vintage speakers where the tweeters had failed in multiple ways. The speaker sounds great and can get loud without being harsh. It's original midrange driver helped with that, having no break up until 8k which is much higher than what it would be crossed over at.

Hi, I am not a speaker builder, but I always wondered why people don't cut panels openings for drivers and terminal panel first? If you make mistake you only wasted one board instead of already glued speaker box. At least he cuts drivers openings before gluing, but then cuts terminal panel opening after gluing the back panel. Why?
@thelittlecousinto19 күн бұрын
I'm not a speaker builder either, but my guess would be to make it easy on sanding using a sander, and prep for painting. It is way simple to sand a flat piece rather than one with holes. Also maybe to reduce the amount of dust accumulating inside.

I bought the plans. I need some speakers for watching movies via projector. From almost infinite projects on the internet this one caught attention. The plans are very precise and looks like from HiFi audio magazine. Very nice concept. I cant wait to start building it and to hear it. I expect to build also subwoofer in the future. They are not entirely budget since its around 23euro plans, 200euros for speakers and crossover + 30 euro wood and another 30 euro for surface and 20 for sound dampening + terminals. Just to be aware that things changed. Im very curious if its gonna sounds better than Edifier S360DB what is very close competition.

Do you prefer a U-shaped sound or an even response? The mids seem a bit cold, but I guess that is probably just the second-hand listening through a video effect.
@SoundBlab2 жыл бұрын
I usually prefer a slight U-shape, but this one it pretty flat. It is not that cold in reality, and sounds quite balanced. Even though I normally prefer U-shape, I tune each speaker to where I feel it sounds best. This does not always result in a U-shape response though.

Have not been able to hear the C-notes for myself, so I cant really give you an informed opinion. However, the Dynamites is a very good speaker with good drivers, and the build plans gives you the option to tune the treble to your taste. The midrange is pleasant with remarkably deep bass for such a small driver. Overall the frequency response is pretty flat and well tuned for music listening. It is definitely one of my favourite builds that I have done, and have received good feedback from some that has already built it.
