That '95 world series must have been the worst umpiring I'd ever seen. The strike zone was 5 feet wide for Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz. The '97 series was burned into your brain as an Indians fan with that walk-off Edgar Renteria base hit. Such good teams and still no win.. hard to believe! Go Tribe!

Ironically, ever since that movie came out, we have been one of the most consistent and best ran franchises in baseball over these past few decades. Especially in developing young talent and making great trades. We are so lucky to have the first pick soon but whoever we pick is just as lucky to come to a franchise that develops players so well.

I hear you. Most of us do, along with the gorgeous Washington Redskins logo. The absolutely sickening and pathetic part about it, is, poll after poll, showed that 90% or more of Native Americans not only didn't have a problem with it, but actually liked both teams, names and logos. Leave it to the white liberals in this country to stir up a hornet's nest, when there's not even any hornets. And never apologize, Sir. There's nothing to be sorry about.

The problem with the Indians is that they would never keep their good, young players. Belle, Ramirez, Thome, Lofton, Baerga, Giles, etc… They all left via free agency or were traded away. Throw in Matt Williams, Alomar, Justice, and Eddie Murray during various years. Who could you pitch to? Just imagine if the Yankees or Dodgers developed those players. They would have kept most of them and dominated for a decade.

My Yankees were standing in the way, in the 90s. I'll tell you, though, most Yankees fans considered the 1998 ALCS to be the REAL World Series. You guys would've smoked San Diego (The Whale's Vagina) as easily as the Yankees did. You would have beaten the Braves in 95 as well, if not for a couple of sissy pitchers from Atlanta, getting a constant strike zone, anywhere from 2 inches off the plate, to the on deck circle. Something that went on for the entire decade of the 90s, and something that I consider to be a far worse scandal than steroids.

But not sure why Indians never won in '97 because Florida team was new and Cleveland had veterans on the team and the team had been there a while too.

From 1901 until 1968 there were no Playoffs. If you didn't finish 1st in the AL or NL...your season was over. That said Cleveland went to a World Series THREE TIMES from 1901 until 1995...winning in 1920 and 1948. And if they hadn't won 111 games to finish ahead of the 103-win Yankees (their most victories in the 50's) they wouldn't have made it in 1954. Cleveland's been a contender for the Playoffs more often than not starting in the mid-90's but especially starting with their move to Jacobs Field. That beautiful ballpark helped elevate them big-time. Not even having two teams compete for a World Series in the AL helped Cleveland in old Municipal Stadium as from 1969 to 1994 they had...zero Playoff appearances.

As a Yankees fan, but clearly a bigger all around baseball fan than you, I had to stop this after one minute. So many errors/lies/laziness. CC never played in the 90’s….and you would never refer to Cleveland’s rotation of the 90’s as ‘future superstars’ as it was always known as their Achilles heal. And when talking about 1990….why are you showing clips from 1997 (Johnson vs Cleveland), or Camden yards, which didn’t exist yet. And while the Braves did beat them in 95, clearly the bigger problem was the Yankees. This is poorly done. Could have been interesting

Cc never played in the majors, he was in the minors, drafted in 98. I was going to put Charles Nagy there instead so that’s my mistake Sabbathia wasn’t a part of the 90s. As for the rotation, Jared Wright was the 10th overall pick in 94, Oral Hershiser had a Cy Young, Charles Nagy also wasnt bad, maybe not a superstar. The Yankees being a bigger problem is an opinion. Thanks for the comment!
@Kennysedlock
@Kennysedlock 4 ай бұрын
 the bigger problem was definitely the Yankees and the Red Sox during that time. As for 95 it’s UNIVERSALLY understood that the umpires had a huge strike that series. You mention Orel hershiser being a cy young Winner he was 36 and the “ace” of that squad was a 41 year old Dennis Martinez. Jaret Wright may have been a top pick but he never hit his ceiling. Especially in Cleveland. As for CC you call him one of the best lefty’s in team history. When he’s one of the best pitchers in team history. And really you couldn’t find a pic of him in a Cleveland uniform. Come on he won the Cy Young in 07. The reason those teams had all those people on the stands is that the cavs were shit and the Browns were gone. It was a perfect storm. But I was skeptical of this video when you took the name of the MLB network documentary. Most of the later stuff is fairly accurate but the opening is horrible. The Major league director chose them because he was a FAN of the team. Another point is that most teams missed the playoffs until 69 and even then only 4 teams made it until the 81 season. You don’t even mention that Alomar was the ROY in 90 and that alomar was ALL STAR GAME MVP IN 97. Bartolo didn’t really come into his own until 02. There’s a lot of good stuff as I said but there’s a lot of missteps also. It doesn’t feel like you did a lot of research and just did this all from memory.
