On April 2021, the European Commission introduced a draft law for regulating "high-risk" AI systems - the world's first-ever legal framework on AI. This webinar brought together a distinguished panel of leading AI policy experts from the United States and the European Commission to examine the benefits and pitfalls of this new proposal, as well as its transatlantic and global implications.
Moderated by Marietje Schaake, International Policy Fellow at the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered AI, the discussion featured perspectives from CSET’s Andrew Imbrie, German Marshall Fund’s Karen Kornbluh, and EU Cabinet Member Werner Stengg. The panelists also addressed questions from the audience.
This event is co-sponsored by the Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET) and The German Marshall Fund of the United States. It took place on June 17, 2021.
