I think this was added in the past 10 years... Someone was irritated by the saying and came up with the second part to indicate that sometimes it's better not to be early. It was all over social media at one point and just stuck as the second part of the saying. I know because I am not an early riser and I just love the second part and quote it often since I heard it.
