Good video for people stuck in sardine cans (urban living). Many people still continue to exercise their hunter/gatherer and survival skills. You can start by merely cultivating an organic vegetable garden. You will learn a lot about Nature and reap many rewards. The information about tracking at 20: is pretty interesting.

wow, great learning. I 'm just visiting from Southern Ca. I want to support and save all wildlife , not hunt or harm unless we r desperate for food. I respect and am beginning my journey to save wildlife from human harm. really interested in learning more...

Tom's teachings have been such a blessing to me in all aspects of my life. There is much to learn from him about being a caretaker. Your grandchildren will thank you for your efforts on this path. Thank you and best wishes.

Great video. With the concentration on voles would be nice to know a list of the predators who go for them. I assume Fox, Weasel family, feral Cats, Coyote, Wolf. Have even seen a horse chomp up a barn mouse. Horses used to be carnivores as well as herbivores and still are seen now and again with a few of the meat eating teeth. Wonder if deer also can chomp up a bit of animal flesh if the occasion offers itself? It is a joy to hear the emphasis and focus of Tom Brown. His presentations are loaded with instructive intent evident in voice tone, physical gesture, and overall composure. Its so much nicer than reading one of his books and trying to imagine him speaking.

"We walk as one with the heartbeat of creation". A lot to interpret there. Or more accurately "read into". It's easy to wander into this realm of "Woo-woo". But maybe if we step back and break the Spell of wishful thinking we find: "We are just so many hairless apes who love to see ourselves as More Important than we are.

So anyway, this guy Brown brought this video into one of my college TV classes 30+ years ago and asked for some critique. When we gave it to him, and told him his stuff sucked, he had a meltdown and stormed out of the room. Wild to see this up on the toob all these years later.

It's to be expected from people focused on making TV programs at a professional level. I do agree, it is dated, and the only way to really appreciate nature is to be in it, which I'm sure many lack. People are always harsh in their critiques because they tend not to notice the bigger picture. Tom didn't have the funding like Marty Stauffer did, but Tom does have a HUGE following due to what he shares. Anyway, I still would have loved to see him have a meltdown and storm out!!!😂😂😂

Yeah Tom has a temper. But he definitely changed my life for the better. I took a number of his classes almost 24 years ago. The things I learned have never left me.

This makes me laugh. People who are familiar with video production don't like this genre. Also for anyone who grew up in forest and field this is so elementary. However, we see how valuable it is to people who have no experience and who hunger for their connection to Nature.
