On the hand use Truck Bed liner spray, it'll give a textured finish, that when you paint over it, dry brushing will really set off the high spots nicely... you can get at any automotive store, or even Home Depot. Generally any place that sells spray paints will usually have this... Another option is spray adhesive. And add on your sand or dirt. Then apply another coat over that to help lock in, then spray your colors over that and highlight as needed....✌✌

Looking good! To texture the hand like stone, you could do textured spray paint over the primer, or grout mixed with glue and water. To texture it like metal, use hammered metal spray paint.

I had the same thought... seems like a lot of extra work for not much gain.

A spray any surface primer and then a stone texture spray over it would do rather well. For stripping, something like acetone would have probably done it better there

A bronze paint and verdigris wash would look good on that hand. Two-parts Ocean Breeze to one part Apple Tart (both from Craftsmart), dilute into a wash, works great.

That’s an excellent point about the surface edges, the texture helps the realism a great deal! It’s looking awesome thus far, can’t wait to see the progress!!!

If you still want to turn the hand into stone like, I'd suggest using a mild acid, soak for a short time then wash thoroughly. It should etch it to a rough surface. Alternatively, you could just coat it in either modeling clay or something like Green Stuff. The molding process would give it a more rock like texture.

Hey buddy love all that you do just a reminder if rattle can primer sticks and dryes properly. There is a reasonable stone texture rattle can that would have worked over the primed hand that you could have highlight painted. It still looks good the way you did it just reminding you if you wanted to stay with your original idea. Again love what you do and keep crafting.

In regard to making the hand look like stone. All you need to do is get the mirror finish off. Once that is off even if it is metallic the primer will stick then you are off to the races to paint in any color or finish you want. Update. I said what I said before watching the full video. There is nothing stopping you from painting this with a stone texture right now. It would look epic.

If you want more of a texture to it, you could also mix some grout into your base layer of paint. Now that it’s sanded and primed you shouldn’t have any problems with adhesion.

Love the ground texture. Could you add something like that to the hand to help it appear more like rock?

For filling gaps, rather than the putty, what I tend to do is grab some of the flexible patch/filler that Dollar Tree has, then thin it down with water and apply with a larger brush.

The best way that I have learned to remove any chrome or metallic finish is with oven cleaner. But wear a mask and gloves, plus spray on it outside. Then use a waterhose to rinse and maybe an old toothbrush to remove.

I wonder if you used blue spray 77 and then shake some fine sand to give it an interesting texture

It would be neat, lore wise, if the hand was actually part of a massive statue of Arcanoth!

Still not sure why you made the top terrain (hand and altar) fixed in place instead of using them as drop terrain? Otherwise, I love the content and it's great to see your process and see you work through the challenges.
