I've seen this called the 'magic dot'/beginner circle/the firefly' and pretty much EVERY animator I've spoken to has tried this one, have you? Animation Files - kdsketch.gumroad.com/l/vhvkl

I’m shook at how simple that’s made animation feel? That’s so helpful like I’d actually give it a go and I’m no artist

I totally get it! It can be super intimidating but it's as simple as you want to make it - one looping circle at a time :) Glad you enjoyed the video!

Thanks for teaching me how to animate the glow effect in krita. 🤩 I don't use TVPaint like you and krita is the only animation software I have.

Okay when I was going to add blur to the glow layer, I don't see the mult checkbox, and I had to do that frame after frame.

I'm using version 5.1.5 so if you're on an earlier version it may be something they've added since you downloaded :)

@@kdsketch Okaaaay, I'm using version 4.4.5, but I'm worried about uninstalling it so I can redownload it to the same version as yours because I might lose my work.

If you’ve saved your file you should be able to reopen it in the new version. I think you can install the new version without removing the old one

Okay I’m glad you made a how to animate video but, I thought you said lip sync is one of the “early ones” for this. Did you forget or did somebody else requested for this?

i love this! i've been animating using flipaclip and procreate on an ipad, but i do have a drawing tablet! do you have any suggestions for free pc animation programs- is krita the best? and/or is it okay to continue drawing on the ipad with flipaclip and procreate (with the goal of improving and one day being professional)? thank you and thank you for the tutorial!!
@kdsketch

Thank you! So glad you liked this one, I've got a few more in the works, currently on a freelance project at the moment so things are a little slower than I'd like. Personally I prefer Blender over Krita (currently working on a blender grease pencil tutorial for beginners as well!) since blender was an animation program first, unlike krita which was a drawing program first that added animation features. BUT at the moment the brushes are better in Krita and if you're more familiar with the software then it's worth a look. Other Free software you might was to try is Tahoma2D which is meant to be a more friendly version of Opentoonz which Studio Ghibli use. It's TOTALLY fine to use procreate and flipaclip while you're learning. Check out Havzta on KZbin/instagram - they use both programs to make some really cool animations. If you're looking to work in a studio it's likely they'll have a specific software they use BUT if you're amazing at animation then you can easily learn the software. Or if you're a freelancer making commissions or projects to hand over to someone else (I've worked with people who used toonboom/adobe animate and then they passed the exports to me so I could line and colour them). Essentially software doesn't matter as much as learning and getting good at animation. Hope this helps :)

@@kdsketch wow thank you so much! been a little worried that working on the ipad will hinder me too much, so i'm trying to go more industry standard :'D if you have time, i have some animations on my channel and i'd love to get a critique from a more skilled and experienced animator like you! thank you :>
@kdsketch
@kdsketch Жыл бұрын
@@acluelessstar Totally understand that feeling, but as long as you're improving and enjoying it you can use pretty much anything and relearn a new program :) I've looked at your most recent few animations and left a comment or two. :)

Wait what happens when you duplicate the glow layer?
@kdsketch
@kdsketch Жыл бұрын
If you duplicate it the blur should look more intense, depends on what you want to go for so it's up to you whether you do it or not :)
@SuperLaikaBros2000

So I’m not so clear about the first few steps for creating the glow effect in krita. I wanna use them in my videos, though.
@kdsketch
@kdsketch Жыл бұрын
What's not clear? If the audio is confusing I wrote down the steps in the video too, and if it's too fast you can always slow down the video as well :)
@SuperLaikaBros2000
@SuperLaikaBros2000 Жыл бұрын
I’d say steps 1-2 is confusing for me.
@kdsketch

Basically make your looping coloured circles and duplicate the layer. On the duplicate lock the transparency of the layer and change your brush to white and make it big so you can quickly colour over the circles on each layer. On the original coloured layer highlight the frames by clicking and dragging and then apply the Gaussian blur filter to it making sure to tick multi frame at the bottom of the window that appears. If you want the glow to be more intense duplicate the coloured glow layer.

I’m a bit lost on getting the boiling effect
@kdsketch
@kdsketch Жыл бұрын
so if you have 1 frame and it holds for a while, I'll redraw that frame twice more (use the onion skin to trace over the lines) and then copy those three frames until the character/art changes and it just repeats like that :) Hope this helps. I do have an OLD video on my channel where I go over the boiling line technique too.
@Thatoneninja22
@Thatoneninja22 Жыл бұрын
@@kdsketch do you do this on a separate layer ?
@kdsketch
@kdsketch Жыл бұрын
No I have them on the same layer and then just copy them across the timeline if I need the boiling line effect to last longer
