Who gives thumbs down for beginner's tricks? This is the same one I teach as a first trick to spectators. This presentation is great. Great presentation can dress up the most basic card tricks. People need to try different presentations to understand. Whichever people gave this a thumbs down just don't realize this trick's potential. If you don't see that, then your just limiting yours in performing magic.

👍 I like to hold the spectators wrist and as pass their hand over the cards. I use the guise of their pulse changes when over their selection. Always gets a good reaction. Keep the good content coming Alex.
@AlexPandrea
@AlexPandrea 6 жыл бұрын
Ya that's a great way to present it. Also I've played around with doing it with your eyes closed and timing it after you see where their card is.

Same way I do it! My justification set up is "so you know how a polygraph/lie detector works right? It tracks your pulse to tell if you are hiding something or being honest..etc" I think it works extra well on skeptics because of the pseudoscientific explanation

@@AlexPandrea Hi Alex - love the channel and tutorials. Thanks. I know this sounds like it wouldn't work.... but give it a go - the principle absolutely does work as its the basis of a trick I have done for years.. Try the trick just as you did it - so you know the card but do the finish by holding the spectators wrist on either side with your fingertips .(choose their wrong hand & relax their shoulder out with a little shake ) Tell them to TRY not. to give it away. You can feel the tiny levels of resistance in their arm as you pass over the card, directing you back to it. You may have to divide the deck in half a couple of times discarding what they move away from . I can actually tell an object someone has chosen on the table from about a dozen items, about 90% accuracy. Derren Brown showed it in a video several years ago. After a bit of practice it really is something you can feel quite clearly ( and very cool as you can refine it every time your perform the trick ) For added Cojones it would be a perfect 'let me show you that again' if you have someone easy to read as you can up the stakes - you can repeat it so you never even touch the cards, get them do do it all ( it means of course you genuinely don't know the selection....) I am going to practice this

Another way of getting a peek for a key card is to look at the reflection of the table. Maybe you dont even need a key card this way. :)
@MrVleker
@MrVleker 6 жыл бұрын
Alexander Wolf I wouldn't try it unless you are certain you're getting a reflective surface, but then again, the audience might pick up on that. Keycards word really good if you use em indirect and not to obvious. Culling a card below is one of my favorite ways to get the card above it.

If you don't wanna do the card spread to check their card before you let them shuffle you do have a couple options that I like to do. If you don't wanna take risks you can get any number of people to cut the cards as many times as they like which won't effect the keycard positioning in relation to the selected card. If you like taking risks you can get them to overhand shuffle the cards where statistically you still have a very good change of not seperating the key card and selected card.

Thanks for this. I have added a little a couple of modifications that work a treat. First I have an invisible deck and before I even start the trick I tell them I have prepared this deck by turning one of the cards around and I put it to one side. Secondly I give them a choice of decks to use. Red rider backs or white ghosts with the jokers in so I can visibly remove them and give them to someone who will guard the invisible deck (but only if there is a male there because of the joker reveal, if not I just do the trick normally). If by chance they choose the ace of clubs I will deliberately get the trick wrong. Then I'll go into a modified David Blaine's speech about "he's got your card" pointing to the guy I gave the jokers to. He'll turn them over and see two jokers. Then I point at the joker reveal and say it again. This goes down really well, especially when I open the invisible deck and show the card I "turned around" was the Ace of Clubs. If the don't choose the Ace of Clubs I do the trick properly and carry on with the reveal from the invisible deck. Sorry if this was a bit convoluted.

when i do this i call it "lie Detector" and i have the spectator pass their finger over the cards. i tell them they will 'give away' which card is theirs by doing this because "ya can't lie to me". it's my favorite group trick. believing that they are doing something wrong with their hands people will go to extremes to hold their hand steady while passing over the spread.

In the performance you didn't do a slip cut in order to place their selection below the key card. Was it some sort of waterfall force? Edit: watching it closely I think you just have break below a key card and you stop "throwing" cards down when you get to your break. You have to time it though with the spectator getting his card in the deck
