Your end piece on your drip tape may pop off with how you have it. Flip it around to where the narrow end is facing the tape and the wider end is down where the tape was cut (if that makes sense). Feed your drip tape through the end piece, push the end piece up out of the way, fold your drip tape about 3 or 4 times (small folds), then pull that end piece down over the folded drip tape. Hope this helps!

Yeah, putting in a timed irrigation system just makes everything so much easier. Once you have your timed water and mulch setup, it makes having a garden so much more enjoyable. One thing to keep an eye on with your setup is if the end of the drip line is putting out less water than the beginning of the line. The way I do it is to make a full loop out of it, so that each drip line attaches to your main distribution line at both ends. You would use the same amount of drip line, but instead of having those clamps on the end, it would instead just be the loop and then the same line comes back on another row of crops, or on the backside of the same row of plants. That will even out the water distribution.
@Randy_IndyАй бұрын
Peter I've seen your suggestion of looping it on other videos, but am confused on it not using more drip line, looks like they use twice as much being a circle of sorts. I think that would be good for use in our stock tanks for multi plants coverage. We plan on finely doing this in the spring but have been intimated by it all. Will this even out the consistency for a large garden?

Awesome video, so very clear to understand. Question the drip tape line with the tiny holes that water your plants, can you control where you only want the water to come out at on your plants around your garden trees, like can you plug up the tiny holes where their is not plant or tree so water is not being wasted, or do you just only add where you want the drip tape to be then you add the other line to connect that's not a drip line and so on, I hope you understand what I'm trying to say and convey thanks alot.

I am in the process of updating garden and am wanting to install a drip irrigation system. One thing I am curious about. Currently I have a 50ft hose that I have been using to water my garden. Would it be possible to attach the assembly to a hose that is attached to the splitter with the valve? Rather than the distribution hose/assembly being directly attached to the house? I ask because my hose is already attached to the fence.

Great video. Just one question. How will you handle crop rotation. Different crops are spaced at different intervals so from year to year won't you have to move or adjust the lines? Of can you plug old holes to allow adjusting the spacing without replacing or moving lines?
@snobird33 Жыл бұрын
same question
@OakAbode Жыл бұрын
The lines are pretty versatile and we haven’t had to change them for different crops so far. However, if we do want to make the watering more targeted for specific crops, we’ll probably just unhook the line for the row we want to change, and swap it out for a different one.

I am forced to redo all my irrigation because I used PVC tubing that has emitters spaced through out. When an emitter or more go bad your whole system is shot. The more repairs you make, hence more connectors, the more blow outs and wasted water! I am going back to one long 1/2 in black PVC and 1/4 inch spaghetti tubing with either flag or button ones that you can adjust for plant needs . I am in the low AZ desert where our temps can be 100 or more very early in the morning. I am using my system to water mostly shrubs . I can use the 1/4 in tubing or button emitters right into the 1/2 in tubing right where I need them. The flag and button emmiters can be opened and cleaned out. Can't be done with the tape or orange PVC. I find parts of the garden flooded and others not wet enough.

My connection kit keeps leaking, I tried putting some plumbers tape over the threads and still no luck. Any advice?
@CL-xk8iw7 ай бұрын
Anything but easy. Harder than heck to get the drip connectors into the distribution line, line collapses, they don’t “pop” in like other stuff I’ve worked with or the end that goes in breaks off. If you manage to get them in, 1/2 of them leak. Get your blowtorch or boiling water ready so when installing elbows, t’s and connections so you can warm the lines so they’ll slip in. The end clamp pieces for the drip line are junk, every 3rd one breaks. The only easy part so far was the faucet connection and the Amazon delivery.

I’m sorry if this is a weird question but do you leave the hose bib ‘on’ 24/7 and let the time manage the flow of water? Does that impact the internal water pipes at all? If the hose bib is on and the timer keep the water from flowing, does that impact your water bill?

@@OakAbode I'm in Texas and have a dark green hose in my back yard. Before I change my chicken bulk water supply to the 5 gallon bucket with the little cups. The mosquitoe larva were thick in their water before they drank ¾ of the water. I would turn the water on and flood bulk water'er and the water was hot enough to kill the mosquitoes instantly!
