I agree with you the last shop that worked on the car did a shoddy job! I'm glad you are going the extra mile to help your customer out even though that wasn't part of your diagnostic. Do you charge extra for cleaning up the wiring ?

Good work brother. I have a 2000 Impala 3.8l. These have great engines and are great cars if maintained correctly. Well, i believe the engine is going to outlast the car itself. I have 300,000 on mine and it is running strong but my suspension and body is getting old. Haha. I'll drive it as long as i can. ✌️

@ChristSavesUs would've been nice if the lower intake gaskets weren't design the way they were and.... if this engine had individual coil packs. But ahhh... it was the late 90s who would've thought about that

Good troubleshooting. A scan tool is invaluable to this kind of work. Instead of "twist tie" method use uninsulated Terminal Butt Splice connectors with a piece of marine grade adhesive lined shrink tubing. It results in a mechanically strong electrical connection that's waterproof.

I had a map sensor cause a stall on one of those motors before. It’d glitch but was intermittently sticking to atmospheric pressure at cruise
