The EASIEST way to catch pike on lures!! UK Lure fishing How To

A video i filmed yesterday showing what is, in my opinion the easiest way to catch a pike on a lure. Filmed over 3 hour on a evening along the canal.

hell yea brother nice video. I have always wanted to fish the UK for Pike, I live in the States up north and the pike fishing here is pretty good if ya find the right body of water, biggest one I've landed here was just under 42" and just over 13lbs. I hear damn near every lake, river, and even ponds in the UK are loaded with pike, alot of monsters I hear as well. cheers bud! tight lines!

That style of fishing is well suited to a side-planer. No worries as to spooking fish....your bait could follow the far bank or mid-stream !

nice one spent many hours doing the same on this stretch of canal using a 2.2inch crazy fish nano targeting perch you can easily catch up to 100 small perch in a session , next time you are on this stretch when you get to the part with the iron barriers on the other side chuck a floating lure over there some massive chub laying tight to the far bank .

Every time i fish my local canal and changing spot i walk the lure down, even if its 15 meters. I dont know how many pike i have had that way. The last 10 days i had 14 pike between 6 and 13 lbs. So it does work

I’ve tried this method twice now and blanked both times on the Leeds Liverpool canal both directions from Rodley. There was a lot of weed and I spent sooo much time removing the weed. Lost a £15 rapala lure near a bridge on what must be a shopping trolley (I’m going back with a grappling rod when it arrives. Any comments or help would be appreciated, I am still to catch my first pike.

great video mate, how are you setting the hooks, i fish a small river near me and get lots of nice perch and jack pikes, but i get lots of follows from big pikes but cant set the hooks, they just seem to spit it out!!!! water is crystal clear so i watch what happens, the jacks and perch come in with such vicious attacks its easy to strike, but the biggies seem to test my lures and say no thanks!!! any help????

Simon Huss when the pike goes for your bait dont strike it will try bite the tail off your lure first bite then second bite will eat the rest

Simon Huss try using a spoon instead or a popper they tend to not be taken by smaller fish but the big ones love it

@Paul Taylor Your facts are all true but ask yourself if say 5 Anglers native to the UK or not all fished each day taking 2 pike each to eat then how long would it be before there are no pike left for anyone to catch? It's all about conservation and respecting the wishes of other Anglers and not being selfish and helping yourself just because it's legal to do so. It's also a well known fact that those Angling clubs who endorse the removal of pike from their stretches often find the remaining fish to get diseases and deformities because of the removal of predators and population explosion. Like I said, it's all about conservation.

Old vid i know, but having not had a pike out of my local canal for 5 months now (i know, seems almost impossible) i came looking for answers to what i was doing wrong, but i guess nothing, i'm doing the same as i see in all the vids. bignastywang90 You may know by now but his rod will be designed to be used this way, it’s not “upside down”

bignastywang90 all rod's can be turned upside down when you add a bait caster I don't use them I just use my trusty old spinning reel it's what I know you have to learn to use a bait caster as you can get what they call bird's nest when the line whips back into the reel and you have to untangle it so I stay clear as I don't know anyone to show me I would give them a go hope that helps

Top water lures are good for staying out the way of stuff like that - try get a crank bait with a small bill so it doesn’t dive too deep and you’ll stay off the bottom Lost a £6 lure once to a shopping trolley some nitty had probably launched in there once 🤣
