By far the easiest way to assemble a axis lock knife. I wish had watched your video 4 knifes ago. Just got my tagged out and swapped scales to AWT. Thanks

From the bottom of my heart: THANK YOU FOR THIS CLIP! One of the springs on my Bugout broke and without this clip I would have never been able to repair my knife on my own. Now it's put back together. The blade is perfectly centered and it runs smooth. Best regards from the Blackforest / South Germany!

This benchmade knife, q tips, locktite, masking tape, drill bits, and Chinese knockoff omega springs are the PERFECT addition to my BUGOUT kit.

Thank for your Video. Purchase a Special Run Bug out with M4, G10, Grey coated blade. I love it , had it 30 days flicked it HARD, to make a loud satisfying snap. Yesterday Saturday while snapping-open both springs cracked at about 4pm. I ordered for 9.99 from Amazon. Received them Today Sunday at 3:37 pm. It’s now 4:40 I have been done about 10 minutes. It is good as new 😎. I watched your video about 20 times between yesterday and this morning. I had tools and supplies ready, and Knife completely taken apart and laid on table. I opened door and began to put back as per your great instructions. ( Did not tape ) .. it’s done ✅ and I’m happy .. no sweat.. I figured out a couple of hacks if anyone needs advice. Now that I’m confident I will purchase a few more used or cheap basic big outs with out any fear of taking apart and customizing Scales, Hardware, etc. Thanks Again I feel great again , my knife is back and fixed it my self. S

It doesnt matter what side is worn. THE NUMBER ONE thing you want to make sure of is is that the side with the bur from when they were stamped out is not facing the blade. Most time Benchmade puts the bushings in facing the same direction so on one side fo the blade the bur will be facing the blade and you want to switch whatever side has this so the rounded or the stamped side is facing the blade. If you have this then get some 1000 grit sandpaper and place the none shiny side down and make like 10-20 circles with the bushing on the sandpaper to polish the bushing so you can make sure that both rounded or stamped sides are facing the blade NOT THE BUR!

Cool video I just put everything together except the blade, bearings and center pin then tie the axis lock back with upholstery thread and work the knife blade and beaing into place with super thin shims and thread. Once lined up push the center shaft through and done. I'm gonna try your method but I've yet to loose a spring . Thanks.

all axis lock knives use the omega spring, so if you are paranoid about it then i would say just use a different lock type altogether

What I do to get the old Loktite out of the Pivot Screw is drop both sides in some alcohol and let it set for 5 or so min and use a toothpick to clean the male side and use a cotton swab to clean the female. It does a nice job of cleaning them, then you can add the new.

Thanks for this, really helped me do a blade & axis bar swap. Far easier for me than trying to do the slide the blade in method that I've done before on other bar lock knives.

so i got the m4 version and it felt really gritty right out of the box and had a lot of lock stick so to took it apart and noticed a lot that could be better. the liners/housing for the axis lock has a rough surface so the edges of all of the holes are sharp to the touch and the rough surface adds to this almost like serrations so i polished the flat surfaces with a strop and inside the where the axis lock rides i had the perfect aluminum oxide 5000 grit sharper for sharpening blade serrations whic fit perfectly so i smoothed that out. i think with how rough that whole area is what causes these springs to wear out. but that wasn’t the worst of it. the hole for the pivot was so sharp and jagged that it was destroying my washers and the surface of the blade tang behind the washers had super aggressive machining lines but beyond that it was also very pitted. the surface that the other side of the washer rests against was also rough and the entire surface of the tang that the lock rides against was pitted and rough and the lock bar itself was rough. also the pivot itself is “D” shaped and the shoulders of the flat part of the “D” shape was rough because of machining lines. i polished all of that out and now it’s much smoother and zero lock stick…. i have two budget chinese axis style knives each cost exactly $50 and neither have any of those issues but my american made $200 benchmade had zero quality control.

How do the omega springs break? 👀 I've had my mini for a while now, and I've flicked really hard because yk it's fidgety so it's kinda a stress reliever, but how do they break. 👀

I do like the lack of moving parts in those locks, but axis locks are the most fun to fidget with for sure
@nicoreloux
@nicoreloux Жыл бұрын
There is no detend ball in any axis lock whatsoever. The mark you see on the blade near the pivot is very likely to be the result of the HRC testing made at the factory (which is usually made on a part of the knife that is hidden to the end user).

I don’t get why you would lube the washers on the side that doesn’t touch the blade. There’s no friction to need lube and it attracts more grime to build up.

yeah it's probably unnecessary looking back on it, i most likely wouldn't do it again. I just did it because the guy i know who makes bugouts said that he does that

For the price you pay for a Bugout... You think they sort out the spring.... I mean, I have knifes that are like 20 times cheaper than the assisted springs have not worn out on. Sometimes paying premium price does not equate to premium quality.
@Heyjuststfu

Isn’t that covered under the lifetime warranty? I’d rather just send it in. I didn’t pay that premium Benchmade Butterfly tax for nothing.
