If it's not working you might have mob griefing off. Turn it on and it should work

@@LauraSilva-yu3vv it's basically where the ability of the mob changes for example creepers cant grief your base by blowing it up, or villagers/zombies cant pick up your items (then u cant breed villagers) and I assume they game can't shear mobs for you? Im not sure about why this affects the farm but the command to turn it on/off is /gamerule mobgriefing false. Sorry for being late

I set up 10 of these to fund my Netherite mining expedition in the nether, works incredibly well, ended up with 12+ stacks while passively running at my base. My only critique/suggestion is to add something like glowstone or torches around the cages, since the grass won't spread if it gets dark, meaning it won't run at night.

A quick question, my sheep eat their grass, any thoughts on why it wont regrow. Because if it does not regrow the sheep wont regrow wool. Any solutions?

@@awkitten9086 Make sure you have a light source, and make sure any blocks between the grass blocks are transparent, like glass. I surrounded the sheep in pure glass, put a glowstone above each sheep cell, and mine ran 24/7.

If the wool isn't being cut, it could be that your observer is facing the wrong way. With F3 you can see which way your observer is facing,

You can make this automatic by making an iron farm behind the dispenser Once the iron farm makes iron itll use the autocrafters to make shears which will then use to cut the sheeps wool so whenever your shears break itll repair automatically

If you want less lag. Put hoppers and chest instead of minecarts. I'm on a really old server and I do everything to minimize lag.

@toasty00000 Thankfully No. Hoppers can pick up items through mud, any slab, water, and snow blocks. However, I have had issues with using snow blocks. But for this, you will need to use minecart hoppers as you need the grass blocks for the sheep to eat.

I had the same problem, but I just hadn't put a minecart with a hopper inside and instead put a normal minecart. So maybe you're having the same problem.

Make sure there is enough light. Especially if you made this underground like I did, you need as much light as possible and grass in all the adjacent blocks. Hope this helps~ @@spadej6453

You have to use glass blocks around the sheep, grass will grow under glass but not other blocks.

Hi, is this possible underground with a grass attached to the 1 block square the sheep is designated to be in? It has worked twice I think but it takes time for the grass to grow back. Does this work best under the sun or is the minecraft scripting technically identifying that dirt block as connected to the whole grass so "all good and sunny"?

Breaking the rail does not work, the rail must be there otherwise the minecart hopper isn't tall enough to pick up the wool. I'm using Java 1.21 so could be a bedrock thing

I think I can help out Sheep are being shaved but wool isn't appearing in the chest - It might not be connected to the chest, make sure that when you add the hopper in (At the bottom), you make it touch the chest. If this is the issue, you might find an abundance of wool still in the hopper Sheep aren't being shaved in the first place - I encountered this issue, and solved it by making a redstone flickering system (This might have been because I'm on Java edition)

If you have mob griefing turned off this won’t work. A simple solution is to make an observer clock or some other redstone clock to power the dispenser
