Replace a crank sensor in 20minutes no taking apart interior

Having also done this on a 1997, I can verify this is spot on info on how to do this. The only thing to add is - spending more on the part is well worth it. You get what you pay for - so if spontaneously stalling in moving traffic w/o warning gets you off, the cheaper brand part will make you giddy about your short-sighted frugality.

Changing Motors, taking Motor from a 1996 Cherokee Country and putting it in a 98 sport. Both 4.0's 98 has different plug ends pick up coil is different, Coil has different plug in, throttle body sensors ,injecter wiring etc. i think all that will inner change./Just use the 98 wiring harness My question is? Will the 98 Crank Position Sensors work with the 96 motor. Using the 98 sensor an plug end. I know they will mount but will the 98 sensor work with the 96 engine after i get the motor in .Also does it have to come off the bell housing or just unplug it and leave it bolted to the housing. Or do those bolt go into the motor block.

Great video - thanks for posting it. My symptoms are NO CRANK and no start. I've checked the obvious; would the jeep still crank if this sensor were bad? TIA
@thestigmach19845 жыл бұрын
Yes it will crank all day as long as the battery and starter hold up. If you have no crank you have a battery, starter, or connection problem. Make sure the battery is fully charged. Make sure the connections are clean the battery. Easy fast way is pour some coke on the terminals will clean it right up. If still no crank check for 12v at starter while someone else tries to crank. If you have power the start is most likely bad. Remove it and take it to oreillys or whatever your favorite store is and have them test to confirm.
