I am able to use my mulching mower to just go over the leaves in the lawn and they disappear. No need to gather them up unless there is a very thick layer. (Mostly what blows in from other yards in late autumn.) Then I use the grass catcher to collect and compost.

If you get a small leaf blower you'll only need to mow the leaves ~once a month instead of once a week in autumn.
