That's one of the sins of remote work. People are easily missing out on an extra mile of walking per day, and they're happy about that. Most people can't afford more calories just because they walked, though.
@JillCao28 күн бұрын
So true. Both my husband and I gained weight during lockdown. I shedded the extra weight by increasing my step count, engaging in regular exercise and prioritizing nutrition. Still working with my husband to help him lose what he has gained. It’s not easy. 😢

I race walked 8.5 miles per day, in 5 hours at work. 2.5 was cardio. I did this, five days a week for 1.5 years and I couldn’t get under a size 14. I lost all my weight during the time when all I did was eat Keto. After that was physical transformation. Way more better to achieve than weight loss.

we don't tend to see differences in fat loss with a keto diet compared to a protein/calorie equated standard diet.

Animal fat provides energy, lean meat provides protein for muscle building.

Given the importance of muscle in seniors as well is it often ideal for those who are obese to place more emphasis on building lean muscle mass OVER fat-cutting?
@MauiAthletics28 күн бұрын
The good news is, when obesity is in play, you are in one of those situations where you can concurrently build significant muscle while losing body fat. The smart move here would be to set a modest calorie deficit, keep protein high, weight train, and prioritize sleep. It will all work out!
@felipearbustopotd21 күн бұрын
46:22 even at 200 lbs-1.5 grams is a lot of protein. 300 grams-that is a lot.
@MauiAthletics10 күн бұрын
Sure, it is. That's why there is a range. That higher end of the range is most appropriate for people with the preference for more protein, in a deep cut, and potentially even in situations like stepping foot on stage or a photo shoot. No one said everyone should be at that level.

Glyphosate is banned in EU

I'm not sure why my previous reply with the link to the law is missing, but this claim is not accurate. It has been approved in the EU through 2033 and will be re-evaluated at that time.

I just bought a CGM b/c of the interview with the Levels lady. Why does he believe they aren't useful? So confusing..
@MauiAthletics10 күн бұрын
Because variances of glucose within the normal range do not matter for otherwise healthy people. So, what this ends up doing is breeding orthorexia rather than teaching sustainable healthy practices and a good relationship with food. You won't make any changes to nutrition based on the info (you shouldn't anyway). No benefits, all problems.
@MauiAthletics10 күн бұрын
Even exercise creates glucose spikes. So, no. Transient changes in glucose don't mean anything. They mean your body is functioning normally. CGMs make sense in diabetics because they cannot naturally control the spikes. If you don't have diabetes, you can. Even higher carb diets have been shown to improve all health parameters just as well as lower carb when calories and protein are equated. If glucose spikes mattered in the slightest in healthy people, we wouldn't see the same results on both high carb and low carb diets.
@joaniethomas294110 күн бұрын
@@MauiAthletics Thanks for your response, I appreciate it. Let me ask you, I thought getting a CGM is apparently supposed to help me see what variances in glucose I have outside the normal range and that would be helpful, no? I also heard you can learn through a CGM non-food related information like how you're responding to stress, exercise, etc, no?
@MauiAthletics10 күн бұрын
@@joaniethomas2941 Nope. None of these things are relevant in otherwise healthy people. So, the question is do you have diabetes? If not, small acute variances outside of the normal range aren't concerning. There's also nothing you should be doing based on this. ie, you would NEVER change programming variables for nutrition or training based on acute glucose spikes. You would do the same thing as any other time. If you have excess body fat, you set up a smart nutrition and training program and you lose excess body fat. Everything else is potential orthorexia and a mental health strain. Again, that's why all the end point data shows the same benefits to high or low carb diets. Suggesting that doing X will make a difference, when X doesn't actually make a difference when studied really shows how off base these people are who recommend this stuff. I'm more than happy to share the research with you proving my claims, but if I post it on KZbin then it hides the comment for some reason. Feel free to message me on IG or via my website if you wish.

The issue with saturated fat gets complex. Ancestrally, the amount of saturated fat found in big game was probably below 10% except in the major fat deposits like the kidney area, etc. With that said, there are more outcomes to consider than just heart disease. Saturdated fat is a very stable molecule compared to unsaturated fats and other studies show that higher saturated fat in the cell wall is protective. When you consider the negative effects of way too much n-6 in the diet, opting for foods that have a higher SFA over PUFAs is most likely going to be a win, so artificially limiting your SFA intake to just 10% doesn't make sense on balance.

@@googbert They are both important. Energy balance dictates weight loss or weight gain. The types of foods you choose can alter what you gain, what you lose, and overall health.
