The best I've found to get sharpie off soles is goo gone then scrubbing down with a magic eraser

Hi, Matt. Love the new niche vids. A few ideas/requests: men's ties that still sell; men's sweaters; men's vests (any materials); vintage leather briefcases & bags; and the OG accessories like cufflinks, nice belts/suspenders, pocket squares, scarves, tie pins, etc. Stay where you are; stay feeling better; and stay enjoying yourself away from the rat race.

I dont ever comment but I just want to say thank you for all you do. You have helped me a ton on my ebay business. Mostly on self control and buying good items vs “ass” brands haha. Not only are you educational but also crack me up on each video you drop. Keep doing your thing brother. 👌🏼

Thank you Matt-love your new videos. I’ll pay more attention to men’s shoes as I thrift because I’m not knowledgeable enough to break into sneakers and there are so many fakes. Let the rats race on down the road to ruin…you are looking and doing great.

Dress shoes are my bread, and butter! Most just don't take the time to look. All the time I'm finding magnanni, ferragamo, bruno magni, testoni, mezlan, Foti. Almost anything in exotic animal skin. You do need to polish, and give tlc. It's worth it

I have picked up some dress shoes recently during a church giveaway. I have watched other sellers talk about what to look for. I figure I can't go wrong with free. 😆 Thanks for the good info.

Hey thx Matt. I rarely look long at dress shoes simply because I know more about other categories. Once I did find a pair that caught my eye because 'made in Italy' also practically new, did not appear to have been worn at all. Sold in a couple weeks around $85 and IMO they were ugly - that black and white saddle oxford style. Paid $4. Someone liked them and they did not require any work, sold just as I found them. THX again, great info here.

I use sharpie of the color of the sole over silver sharpie or Goo Gone.

Hey Matt! Great video. What I do with the ones that have sharpie that I can't get out I just make a box over it with the same color sharpie. So far no complaints in 6 years and I do pick up men's dress shoes when they are in great condition.

Last mens shoes I sold was a pair of Allen Edmonds. Paid $1 at my favorite thrift store (they had a sale on shoes). Sold for over $50. Have to be opportunistic grabbing sellable items outside your normal areas.

Thanks Matt, was in the G store today, happened to be looking at mens shoes after seeing this video. Spotted several Italian styles and brands. Excellent video as usual!

Thank You I purchased your Manifesto & I highly recommend that anyone who goes to thrift shops regularly do this it can only help you to have more tools. This took A LOT of work and time to put together. If you are a reseller of anything and you're not able to make the $20 he is asking then IMO you must not be sourcing at the same places as I am. I do not like selling clothes I have done this long enough to know the really good brands but I walk by tons and tons of clothing and sometimes something catches my eye so I look it up and 25% of the time it's valuable. Where this will help me is I can now look up the clothing brands around the valuable item because in my experience if you find one clothing item that is worth it the person who donated it did not just donate one article of clothing and they typically like nice things.

Thanks Matt. Great info! Ive occasionally come across a decent brand of dress shoe but worn beyond their death date. I live in a small town, mid to low income, way casual. But, hope springs eternal!

I've been super successful flipping mens dress shoes. Favorite is Vintage Edward Green Chelsea 202 Last paid $6.99 sold $225 to UK buyer in 30 days. It really helps to know sizes/widths, Style/colors and size conversions for international sales. Many international buyers for men's dress shoes are looking!

Outstanding video.👏 Solid information and I think your assessment is spot on…dress shoes have fallen out of favor but there is still good money to be made. Thanks for all the interesting and useful tidbits of information (derby v oxford, shell cordovan, etc).

Its satisfying when you look at them finished after after some tlc obviously the money has to be there to make it worth it too . The listing process photos etc i find easy sat down in chair. Clothing takes a lot longer IMO steaming measuring picturing describing condition . I store all my footwear in a tub pre wrapped in polymailers .

Hey man, I love your channel and all the information you provide. It's made reselling alot easier. I had a question though about reselling... how often do you unlist an item and do the sell similar thing to reset an items listing?

I have a thing about shoes, for some reason I just don’t like touching shoes other people have worn. It really grosses me out. So yeah I’m skipping a niche - oh well, more for the rest of youse! Imho there’s something to be said for not spreading yourself too thin. If you know you don’t want to mess with a particular item even though it might be valuable, then don’t. Honestly guys looking at piles or rows of old shoes gives me the willies. But I’m learning about vintage board games and toys recently!

Me too. Shoe in the bins are pretty much my worst nightmare. Ugh. They rank right up with used sock and underwear. I won't by bras either. I prefer hard good and an occasional shirt or jacket.

I've had 3 pairs of Allen Edmonds sitting on a shelf in boxes for a couple of years. I didn't list them because you could see the toe marks from the previous owner. Otherwise, they're almost perfect...
