what program are you using to compose? I have been composing a long time and I really want to start creating pad sounds like this, but I don't know where to start!!

@@KonvictionTV Hey, that's a great question! I had the same trouble and it turns out it's not as difficult as it might seem. You can use any type of basic synth for these kinds of pads, but I find wavetable synthesisers like Vital (which is a free VST) to be the most versatile. The secret sauce is huge amounts of reverb and filtering. I use Valhalla Supermassive for the reverb and apply various low pass and band pass filters to get the soft sound I'm aiming for. I would play around with the filtering and layer up multiple pads across the frequency spectrum and you'll eventually get the sound you're after. I hope that helps, good luck!

@@ExitSpaceMusic Great answer! Thanks for taking the time to explain. It does make sense. I've been watching some youtube videos on that exact process as well. I'm working with Reason 5 from like 2004, so my software is a bit outdated, but I feel like I could still achieve this if I really wanted to with the synths they have.

@@KonvictionTV Most definitely achievable with an older version of Reason. Some DAWs include some kind of simple subtractive synth which applying a long decay reverb should get you some nice results. I'm using FL Studio which has some great tools that suit all genres of music but I'm sure pretty much any DAW that uses midi will work for ambient.
