Salaam. It's not that difficult to understand this ayat. Any ayat when Allah says he has spread out the Earth like a carpet, or like an expanse. It clearly says in Surah Nuh ayat 20-21, he has done this so we can walk upon it. Very clear. Nowhere in the Qu'ran does it say the Earth is flat. Nowhere. When Allah Rabb-ul-Alamin says he has spread out the Earth for us, he is talking about it from our perspective, because when we walk on the ground or a road, it is spread out. That's it. It does not mean that it is flat. He has simply spread the Earth for us, for the trees, for the mountains, for the cattle, for the water and the birds, for all the creations of the Earth so that they can settle. Very clearly you will find that Allah says he merges the night into the day, and the day into the night; thus, the Earth is round, which should be good enough for any Muslim to understand. Besides, we shouldn't look deeper for any hidden meanings. Never do this. The verse of Almighty Allah has come down, so simply believe in it. Whether it is unclear or clear, just believe in it. It is from Allah. Allah himself states this in Surah Imran that there are some who look for the hidden meanings, and they try to seek Al-Fitnah. Only Allah alone knows of the hidden meanings. But there are also some who believe in the Qu'ran as a whole; when the ayat comes down, all you have to believe is that it's from Allah. Period. Who cares whether the Earth is flat or round. Allah says the Earth is round, therefore it is. People can misinterpret the meaning of 'spread out' if they want, but Allah explains it is for us so that we can walk, so why not believe that instead? Allah is simply talking about it from our perception so that we can understand. After this, if you want to take out any hidden meanings, go ahead, you're only going to fall into error. You can take a look at this, in order to clear any misconceptions you have, because there is no contradiction in the Qu'ran. Absolutely zero. The only real contradiction lies in the misconception of diseased minds, those who do not wish to understand the Qu'ran from the bottom of their hearts. Yes when you see moon and Sun, it looks perfectly round but earth is shaped like an egg, What Newton means was it's not perfectly round because it has latitude and longitude both of different lengths, but when you look at earth from space it looks perfectly round, like moon have too many mountains, it's not completely flat, but it looks perfectly round

Imagine if we were to believe that the earth is a sphere, an egg shape rock floating orbiting around in an infinite vacuum of space. Think about the possibility that human could travel from planet to planet. How could Islam be relevant in that situation? How do you pray 5 times a day, facing Kaaba on Mars or any other planets across the galaxy? The quran mentioned everything that is feasible to our limited senses and mind. The world is as what is mentioned. We could make countless unverified assumptions and speculations about what is beyond our limits. But to acknowledge such a thing as the absolute truth is the same as denying the God's creation philosophy. Most people nowadays are easily misrepresenting pseudoscience as facts rather than with an actual verifiable and falsifiable scientific method.

Inform them of their names.” Then when Adam did, Allah said, “Did I not tell you that I know the secrets of the heavens and the earth, and I know what you reveal and what you conceal?” And ˹remember˺ when We said to the angels, “Prostrate before Adam,”1 so they all did-but not Iblîs,2 who refused and acted arrogantly,3 becoming unfaithful. We cautioned, “O Adam! Live with your wife in Paradise and eat as freely as you please, but do not approach this tree, or else you will be wrongdoers.” But Satan deceived them-leading to their fall from the ˹blissful˺ state they were in,1 and We said, “Descend from the heavens ˹to the earth˺ as enemies to each other.2 You will find in the earth a residence and provision for your appointed stay.” Then Adam was inspired with words ˹of prayer˺ by his Lord,1 so He accepted his repentance. Surely He is the Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful. We said, “Descend all of you! Then when guidance comes to you from Me, whoever follows it, there will be no fear for them, nor will they grieve. But those who disbelieve and deny Our signs will be the residents of the Fire. Since the sun and moon are just two but the Quran refers to three or more then according to the Quran all the three move: sun, moon and Earth. The Quran says that Earth has a diameter (diameter is simply twice the radius). [Allah]Covers the night with the day, asks for it persistently; and the sun and the moon and the stars enslaved by His orders. Is this not His creation and His command? Blessed be Allah the Lord of all the worlds. If God asks more of the day and more of the night then this means the days are getting longer. Physics wise this means that the rotation of Earth should be slowing down. However this is what it really turned out to be: The rotation of Earth is indeed slowing down. [Quran 50.7] And the earth We have spread it out (والارض مددناها), and set thereon mountains standing firm, and have produced therein every kind of lovely pairs (of plants). The Quran says that God spread out the Earth 'والارض مددناها' meaning increase in surface area during formation. 'Madda' in Arabic means 'spread out', however it was mistranslated to 'flat'. Flat in Arabic is "musattah مسطح" and its verb (to make flat) is "sataha سطح" however neither were used in the entire Quran. The Quran says that God spread out Earth, that is, increased the surface area. Our solar system is 4.57 billion years old. Earth started accreting concurrently with the sun and our neighbouring planets 4.57 bln years ago. However during the accretion process the radius of Earth was not spontaneously 6400 km; but rather started a few kilometers long and progressively increased. But the surface area is a function of the radius, that is, as the radius increases the surface area increases (surface area = 4πR 2 ). So the Quran correctly described the surface area as increasing. If you truly want to reward the brother (or anyone else), please see the du'a in its complete form: Jazaka Allah khairan. If you only say "Jazaka Allah" you haven't made any du'a. You are literally saying "may Allah give you". This is wrong both linguistically and Islamically. Are you asking Allah to give something good (khaira) or bad?? The verb "jaza" can be used for both. People say this following the likes of Zakir Naik, it comes from trying to read the Quran in the light (or darkness) of mainstream contemporary secular science opinions. Very foolish as scientific opinion changes. They try to read in the verses what is not there, like people tried to look at hebrew verses in the Bible and tried to relate them to Muhammad (saw) just because there was some phonetic similarity rather than an etymological one. Islam does not validate itself by man-made theories, rather the Quran itself is the validator... It will never contradict reality but it will contradict false man-made opinions. But as for the Quran being spherical, then this was implied by other verses and scientific evidence which is the majority of classical scholars seemed to affirm that e.g:- Imam al Ghazali [d.505 h./1111 A.D.], said,:- "For the Moon derives it's light from the Sun, and the earth is a round body surrounded by heaven [i.e. sky] on all sides. Therefore, when the moon falls under the shadow of the Earth, the light of the Sun is cut off from it. Another example is their theory that the solar eclipse means the interposition of the body of the Moon between the Sun and the observer, which occurs when the Sun and the Moon at the intersection of their nodes at the same degree. We are not interested in refuting such theories either, for the refutation will serve no purpose. He who thinks that it is his religious duty to disbelieve such things is really unjust to religion and weakens it's cause. For these things have been established by astronomical and mathematical evidence which leaves no room for doubt. If you tell a man, who has studied these things, so that he has sifted all the data relating to them, and is, therefore, in a position to forecast when a solar or lunar eclipse will take place, whether it will be total or partial and how long it will last - that these things are contrary to religion, your assertion will shake his faith in religion, not in these things. Greater harm is done to religion by an immethodical helper than by an enemy whose actions, however hostile. are yet regular. For, as the proverb goes, a wise enemy is better than an ignorant friend." (GHAZALI Tahaafut al Falaasifah p.6) Imam Ibn Hazm [d.456 h./1064 A.D.] said, "There is sound evidence that the earth is round, but the common folk say otherwise. Our response - and Allah is the source of strength - is that none of the leading Muslim scholars who deserve to be called imams or leaders in knowledge (may Allah be pleased with them) denied that the earth is round, and there is no narration from them to deny that. Rather the evidence in the Qur’an and Sunnah stated that it is round." (IBN HAZM al-Fasl fi’l-Milal wa’l-Ahwa’ wa’l-Nihal (2/78)) and one of the ayaat that Ibn Hazm mentioned was this " “He created the heavens and earth for a true purpose; He wraps the night around [yukawwir] the day and the day around the night” [QURAN az-Zumar 39:5]"

I agree with the point you made in the first paragraph and (consequently) greatly differ with the ideas in the translated text attributed to Imam Ghazali and Ibn Hazm which you cited. Their arguments have been logically refuted and responded to by many. What matters here (to any sincere Muslim) is whether their arguments are in line with the Qur'an which is not the case. When we want to know the reality of the earth, we do not consult NASA or even Imam Ghazali or Ibn Hazm (may Allah have mercy on both of them). We consult ALLAH, The Creator of this whole system. He told us in the Qur'an that He knows better! He told us that when He created the heavens and the earth he did not take any of the above people or organisations as witnesses. He also told us very clearly that He flattened and expanded the earth! There are numerous evidences in the Qur'an alone, both direct and indirect, that the earth is a flat plane and not a sphere. Even if we accept that the Quranic verse 79:30 actually means that the shape of the Earth resembles an egg, it is still incorrect. Geometrically, Earth is as different from an egg as a square is from a triangle. If Quran was the word of an all knowing deity, it would have described the correct shape of the Earth in an unambiguous manner, leaving no room for any post hoc interpolation. The Quran uses ambiguous language and incorrect analogies exactly as expected of a book written by illiterate medieval dessert dwellers. The verse speaks about the day of judgement. It can mean that God will miraculously flatten the Earth out. It does not indicate that the Earth is flat currently. Plus 'level' can mean 'smooth'. And a surface that is smooth can exist on any shape. The verse only means that the Earth will not have mountains, oceans, hills etc. Only plains will remain void of anything.

Even if we accept that the Quranic verse 79:30 actually means that the shape of the Earth resembles an egg, it is still incorrect. Geometrically, Earth is as different from an egg as a square is from a triangle. If Quran was the word of an all knowing deity, it would have described the correct shape of the Earth in an unambiguous manner, leaving no room for any post hoc interpolation. The Quran uses ambiguous language and incorrect analogies exactly as expected of a book written by illiterate medieval dessert dwellers. Brother I have found some of the muslim's youtube channel, like "Roots of Knowledge" made a video regarding the shape of the earth in the Quran and misinterpreted this explanation such that dahaha doesn't mean ostrich egg so now as quran stated that it is flattend out and his video finishes. The arabic of the word flat is completely different from the word "Muddat" or "sutihat". It has also meanings like spread, extend etc. I open the arabic dictionary it found this word is used for surfaces not for a body. And if you see english to english translation flattened out means making it smooth. So it is only applicable for the surface not for the entire body. Like a football has a flattened out surface or smooth surface. So I can say I have flattened out the football. But IF I say the football is flat that is totally a different meaning. This means the shape of the football is flat Similarly, I can say, I have smooth skin, that doesn't mean my skin is flat. . When you use flattened that indicates the surface of the earth. But why quran never used the word flat instead of flattened out ! At least one verse out many quran should use the word flat instead of spread, extend or flattened out! Also, If you check classical popular tafsirs like ibne kathir, tabari , they kept silent regarding the shape of the earth. They never interpreted the verses, that "this verses says the shape of the earth is flat". They didn't understood that this verse is talking about the shape of the earth. There are few exceptions. very few classical interpretators said the earth might be flat, but they are the minority, not the majority. And we can't take exception as an example. Others keep silent regarding the shape of the earth and never understood that this verse actually means earth is flat. Like Ibne kathir and tabari. But if we see the minority interpreters like Tafsir of Jalaylan, he said, -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "And the earth, how it was laid out flat?, and thus infer from this the power of God, exalted be He, and His Oneness? The commencing with the [mention of] camels is because they are closer in contact with it [the earth] than any other [animal]. As for His words sutihat, ‘laid out flat’, this on a literal reading suggests that the earth is flat, which is the opinion of most of the scholars of the [revealed] Law, and not a sphere as astronomers (ahl al-hay’a) have it, even if this [latter] does not contradict any of the pillars of the Law. " -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- but interestingly, he also said , "even if this [latter] does not contradict any of the pillars of the Law." And he used the word, "suggests" never claimed from this hadith or from the understanding of sahabas and prophet muhmmad (pbuh) we came to know that this verse means earth is flat. This is totally his own opinion. But what about other tafsirs? we can't take exception as a ruling of Islam! we have to take and understand what the majority of salafs understood by this verse, here is the tafsir of ibne kathir, -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- وَإِلَى الاٌّرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ (And at the earth, how it is outspread) meaning, how it has been spread out, extended and made smooth. Thus, He directs the bedouin to consider what he himself witnesses. His camel that he rides upon, the sky that is above his head, the mountain that faces him, and the earth that is under him, all of this is proof of the power of the Creator and Maker of these things. These things should lead him to see that He is the Lord, the Most Great, the Creator, the Owner, and the Controller of everything. Therefore, He is the God other than Whom none deserves to be worshipped. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So he never claimed that by this verse we understand the earth is flat or something. Also the majority of the authentic classical tafsir also never told such things. So, brother, please make another video to clear this thing and such videos from muslims misguiding many people and suggests that Quran has an error that goes against clear scientific facts. Allah says in the Quran, "Then do they not reflect upon the Qur’ān? If it had been from [any] other than Allāh, they would have found within it much contradiction." (Quran 4:82)

if we look at *neil adams growing earth theory* it fits what the quran mentions in order: his theory states that the earth was all together and then it grew, while it grew, gradually the seas became exposed etc; even the pangaea theory states that the earth was together as one continent and the it spread out. To be real, either way, it is still right, if you see how earth as to mean surface terrain higher than the sea level (which is what is useful for mankind to build and traverse) is generated, you see it comes from the lower earth, then it spreads out slowly, from volcanoes or whatnot, and it grows in size... @dimmy dunk Well, the thing is... the Qur'an did not leave room for misinterpretation. When it comes to the topic of the shape of the earth, the words Allah uses in the Qur'an are very, very clear and straightforward. The problem is that people (many Muslims and Muslim scholars) want to twist them and load them with meanings that do not exist (just like many Christian scholars did) out of fear that people will say that their books contradict with 'science'. This is a crime really. But the point I am making here is that if you read the Qur'an yourself you will find that the meanings are clear. God says, in reference to the earth, I 'flattened' it, I 'expanded' it, I 'spread' it (like a carpet, tablecloth or bedsheet). God says it has edges. and God says many other clear things about the earth and the system we live in. But people insist on twisting the meanings and say "well, that does not contradict with it being spherical etc etc". Allah says that He made the Qur'an clear and that it has no crookedness so that people may understand and reflect but people have other priorities...

And I think the issue you pointed out goes back to the differences between the two languages, Arabic and English, and to problems in translating the Qur'anic text. You are right in saying that these words have different roots and therefore there are differences in meaning; such differences may be subtle in some cases. It may be that the translators you read their translations were just lazy! Or it may be that the English language does not accommodate for such subtleties in these particular words. The best way to solve this problem (though not a quick one!) is to learn Arabic and then consult the classical books of (Arabic-Arabic) tafseer for meanings of these words. A lot of people learn Arabic for that purpose. The (Arabic) books of tafseer address these differences in meaning in great detail. By the way, have you checked these these words in Hans Wehr?

The Qur'an is PERFECT. Any implied suggestion that anything in the Qur'an should have been written otherwise is a SIN. The Narrator should stop such implied suggestions. Many muslim scholars don't even believe as Adam being the first human, just the first prophet. There are many other verses that suggest evolution, as well. Muhammad pbuh never owned slaves. He even adopted a black son. Islam abolished slavery in the middle east. In a hadith Muhammad pbuh even said that he doesn't want to see 3 types of people on judgment day, one of them being people who sold slaves or owned slaves. And are u crazy? Saudi Arabia believes in a flat earth? A muslim scholar or debater (dk) was given awards at Saudia Arabia and he promoted the egg-shaped earth (which is scientifically accurate). I don't want to be rude, but as muslims we have to be open minded, and can't just look at everything one way. The Quran was sent down for all people and generations, so it won't overwhelm the current people or be proven false by future people.

I actually never really liked this particular example that people use to 'prove' something from the Qur'an. It always seemed far-fetched to me, and when discussing the shape of the Earth with non-Muslims, I have never even eluded to this interpretation (of the bird-egg). There are other instances in the Qur'an, in which a spherical Earth is being hinted at. I find it really rather odd that so many Muslims in this comment section are ignoring the explanation, and are instead criticizing the shape of the egg in the image you used, as if the argument is based on that. What's more, there seems to be an increase in Muslims promoting the false idea that the Earth is a flat disc, following in the footsteps of the American Christians for some reason, while historically, Muslims have agreed on the fact that the Earth is an orb. You'll find many proofs for this in the literature. Pseudo-science done by pseudo-intellectuals. Nothing good can come of it. Your video is much appreciated, brother. Slm!

@XaeeD My second point... I am one of the people who believe in the Earth being flat and that the whole cosmological system we've been taught is a lie. But I base this on the Qur'an and not on "following in the footsteps of the American Christians" as you said. The fact that what we (Muslims) say meets with some of what Christians say goes back to a simple fact. There are many similarities between the Bible (Old Testament and New Testament) in particular in relation to the creation of the Heavens and the Earth. When you examine Qur'anic texts relating to this topic and compare them with some Biblical texts (which is what I did myself) you will find amazing similarities so much so that one cannot any longer ignore the fact the Earth is flat. Take it easy and research it yourself.

Asalamoalaekum, I think these ayas are sequential (27- 33) in the process of creation and should be taken as a unit. What Allah (swt) is trying to say here, in my mind, is that the creation of Heavens and earth were certainly more difficult than creation of man. He then describes the process of how he weaved the space like a fabric (‏بناها) raised it high and flawless, then made night with darkness and day with it brightness. After all that He spread the earth as a flatland and created water and its pastures. Then added mountains, (which obviously will create valleys ) and all this process for provision for us to use and enjoy.

@@dzAngelo I am referring to Allah (swt ) His own words in Quran when He says in 40:57:- لَخَلْقُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ خَلْقِ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ The Clear Quran “The creation of the heavens and the earth is certainly greater than the re-creation of humankind, but most people do not know” I agree that For Allah (swt ) it’s ‏ كن فيكونbut from our perspective creation of H / E is of real tall order.

@@dzAngelo This verse shows transcendence of God and He is able to do with just two words of كن فيكون. anything So if you think from God’s perspective it doesn’t matter what action or فعل it is all he has to say is 2 words or for that matter not even say just will it. But the purpose of this verse is for humanity to understand that for w God it’s the same. Context of the verse was about life after death when Quresh denied life after death concept. So Allah (swt) is trying to make them understand that if He can create something larger scale like universe than man, hence resurrection of man is nothing, not difficult from human understanding.

please, correct the information you are telling in this video as it is includes a limited meaning to the word and refuting all the other meanings which does not deliver the authentic message of the quran. This could lead to many who do not speak arabic could be misguided unless you correct the video 'Whoever lies upon me intentionally, then let him take his seat in the Fire'. Quran never said that the earth is flat as some ignorant claim, on the contrary, Quran says والأرض بعد ذلك دحاها )( Then after that He made the earth like an egg) (79:30). Dahwah دحوة means in Arabic an egg. Some people translate this verse wrongly claiming that it means spreading it like a flat surface. They need to refer to original word Dahw and Dahwah. We also read in Quran يكوّر الليل على النهار ويكوّر النهار على الليل(39:5) : He who makes the night like a ball turning on the day, and daylight like a ball turning on the darkness of the night. Those claim that earth is flat have misunderstood the meanings of Quranic verses.

Also the verse does not reference any person or text for technical proof. sceince does not use quran, instead uses Kepler, Galileo or newtons work.
