At first i did like the emulations or recreations of old synth. In the beginning there were a lot of Minimoog clones, now it seems everyone tries a own version of the CS-80. But i now ask myself, what can it do what my Dune 3 vst or Zebra HZ can't?

once you got a decent synth capable of most of things, you pretty much have no more need to buy anything else, unless it's some really niche thing I guess... not a huge synth nerd myself but the differences of the synths at this point are now just about the workflow I think, which I doubt worth the full price of a synth when same thing can be achieved with what you already have with little more hustle

The CS80 was never considered a great sounding synth to begin with. Its appeal was its performance capabilities. That's why Vangelis loved it. The poly aftertouch and so on. The Blade Runner soundtrack made everyone else want one. There's no reason for countless software emulations of a mediocre sounding synth that needs to be drowned in reverb. Wish someone would make a hardware version of the ring mod though. It's the best one I've ever heard.

@@D3XTROI actually think it’s helpful. Sometimes I’m on the fence with a gnawing feeling that there’s something but GAS is predominant so when someone else’s opinion reflects my subconscious feelings I find it helpful. I’ve listened to three or four reviews - big fan of XILS - but this emulation sounds a little digital - thin - to my ears.

If you're interested, you can download a demo. Didn't have any audio dropouts, so it's probably time limited (an hour? A day?). It is very light on cpu usage. The low end is nice, the ring mod is pretty good but I couldn't tell if the clean signal was bleeding through at max depth. Feature wise it seems limited compared to Arturia's version. I had to set the gui size to minimum (45%) for it to fit on my laptop screen. Not a gui you can drag to resize so that sucks. Don't know that I'm compelled to demo it more since I think it costs too much for what it offers. There's Vital and Surge available for free for example.
