I know that some people would complain about the electricity, but if it's generated by water power it is cleaner than the log fire, people should embrace it :)

I remember calling in and having a look inside this bothy when I climbed the two Munros at the head of Glen Finnan, Sgurr Thuilm and Sgurr nan Coireachan. I was quite impressed it had electricity. I didn't stay though, I caught the train back to Fort William.

A great little bothy.

Looks a lovely area - luxury the electricity in an otherwise (normal) spartan bothy :)

What has happened to the bunk beds, lights and fan heater? Admittedly it was a long time ago I was there.

This is brilliant and a far cry from the VERY basic Corrour Bothy and An Garbh Choire bothy in the Cairngorms. How does the electricity work? Presumably it's prepaid? Really clever.
@BritishCoastline3 жыл бұрын
It's free but donations are accepted and I believe its generated by the nearby water source.

@@BritishCoastline This should be the template for ALL bothies, within reason. Obviously it isn't possible to have electricity in the dark recesses of the Lairig Ghru and of course the "purists" love the idea of roughing it without any mod cons. But I am always reminded of Solvay Hut, some 14 000 feet up on the Matterhorn, which even boasts an emergency telephone! The Swiss know how to do things properly, sa does The Glenfinnan Estate.

Alistair still checks up on the bothy daily .Brought me firewood couple if times last summer. Great setting the bothy ,good camping 20 yds away by the burn too.

Great video, what equipment do you use to film and edit your films? they are superb.
@BritishCoastline5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gary, I don't actually have the best equipment in the world... In this particular video the timelapse bothy shots and the 'What's on your camping gas stove' section was used with a Sony A6000. The bothy tour and speeded up/ slowed down walking montage was used with a yi 4k action camera with a gimbal and the aeriel shots were used with a dji spark. I create graphics with photoshop and edit video using Sony Vegas.

Don't get the appeal of a bothy with electricity personally.
@BritishCoastline3 жыл бұрын
It's just something the bothy has. You don't have to use it.
@stewartdoey77914 жыл бұрын
Not proper bothy with electric ⚡️ real bothy with nothing in it might as well sit at home
@BritishCoastline3 жыл бұрын
Well I wouldn't compare it to sitting at home. Using the electricity is not mandatory.

I used to hate olives but one day, about 15 years ago at Montecasino near Johannesburg, I tried a bowl of them. Now I can't put 'em down. Still hate celery and offal though.

@@VerbalKint74 yeah, its like other things that are meant to be good for ya, i sort of wish i liked them, but i don,t,lol, most veg i love, but also hate the taste of olive oil, & any salad dressings, prefer salad cream on a salad, & its funny how everything thats bad to eat for health reasons, most people, including me, love, i say we are only here once, so eat what you want,when you want,lol
