It was noted that, when Fire Town was established, all water pipes were shut down. Therefore, the shop doesn't need up-to-code pipes. In fact, the City should be responsible for enforcing the removal of the pipes and sealing the leak.

The theorie is good, but I still think there are some things not right. (Disclaimer: this is not meant hateful, just some counterarguments... it got too long, I'm sorry...) 1. Wade writing the ticket. It could be a master plan... or his job? He also couldn't have just left it that way, because he needs that job and if it came out, he was there, and he didn't tell anyone about the violations, he'd have been in a lot of trouble. 2. Wade doesn't let Ember plead her case. Maybe he sabotaged, or, he saw the way she wanted to handle it and thought, maybe it would help if it were sincerer, if some very important and personal details were shared. Was it his place to share these details? No, but it probably worked for him most of the time, so he tried to help the way he is used to doing stuff like this. He also didn't know that Ember has an anger management issue. A point that can work for your theory, as just coincidentally, he was lucky she had it, or he didn't think, that she would react that way and still only had in mind to help. 3. The two passes and the way he happened to have left them at his workplace, where Ember happened to be. Chances are, they are a gift from Gale, so he could go too. They are a workplace gift and the second card would be for anyone he would like to take along or if he would like to see another game. He left them there, because he forgot them there and the game was that day, and she happened to be there. The reason he mentions it, is because he wants her to know, he's not stalking her... perhaps. 4. His impressing skills. That's just who he is. That's why he acted so weird at point two. He is sentimental and is deeply interested in people, because he knows that sometimes, it's hard to deal with emotions. I mean, he bursts at any given moment, he probably had his dark times because of it too. 5. He is the man of the plan. His job is literally this. He was the one inspecting the pipes and the leak the first time around, so who else is supposed to make a plan. Ember? Perhaps Gale, but the whole point was, that they are supposed to fix the issue, not her. 6. First one to spot the hole? He was the one paying the most attention at the moment they flew over it. 7. The one with "punched in the face by beauty" could hint at him not wanting it to be fixed, or he is actually in awe of it, the only evidence against it, I could bring, is, that it only works for people watching it in English, but what is that supposed to say? The original is English. 8. The part where he is inviting her up. What else should he have done, instead of invite her up? The call was still going to come, and he didn't know when that would be. He could have left her outside, but that's, in my opinion, worse than invite her up. He also didn't pressure her, he told her, his family is there, would she like to wait with him on the call upstairs for the time being and she agreed. He didn't put her worries aside in a neglectful way, but just tried to make her comfortable and worry less for the time it might still take till the call would come, and he didn't just surprise her with his family, he warned her beforehand. 9. The face is also a bit taken without further context. Perhaps it was, how you said, him realizing now there is an end to it. Actually, though, that look on his face was there as the call started and was the same one Ember had. It was worry about what Gale would say and that kept on, because she sounded unhappy first about the glass. His expression immediately changed after the phone called ended, and he was happy with Ember, that they had made it. I actually can relate to this, because that's how I feel after a good phone call. 10. There is context missing towards him coming along her, when she leaves. For some reason, she sees an opportunity that was given to her as something bad, while talking about it in a good way and instead of explaining why she feels that way, she tries to run from the argument and from her emotions, and he wanted to get behind it. That led to her actually saying out loud, that she realizes now, that she doesn't want to work in the shop. It's been something that was expected from her, or that's how she felt. Her father always wanted her to keep up the work in the shop, and she never questioned it, since it seemed like the only option to her, but it's not. She's seen it. 11. I would agree with your point with: it's Embers flame and so on, but actually, he did use his own fire. He did use her light, but it was prism heat that was used. He could have used any light, hers was close and made much more sense, since it was about them. 12. Love bombing. Again, not much proof. The movie isn't able to be long enough to actually show them outside when they meet up. The reason we don't see him work, the reason we see Ember work more, is because the main focus is on her and then what's between her and Wade. Also, that's how dates work, you meet up, and you try to see if you work with each other and that includes giving the other attention and love. 13. If he were the gaslighting type of guy, he would have done that all along, he left her to her opinions and the way he flipped there, wasn't him insulting her, it's him frustrated, that she is so easy to throw anything away that is good for her, because she is scared to disappoint her dad. He is also not gaslighting her into quitting, especially not "the entire movie". It was her who confessed that she doesn't even want to work there for the rest of her life. I would get if you were to say, he is gaslighting her into working on the job his mom suggested, but not even that is the truth. He is not wanting her to quit because it what was suggested, but because it's what she wants to do. 14. The passive aggressiveness is confusing. 15. The glass cracking could be Wade, or it's more of a symbol of her emotions getting fragile and then they burst. but idk

Like when you pointed out how she didn't get to properly plead her case, Wade makes her burst by saying "But the main thing is that if her father can’t retire, it will all be Ember’s f-“ WHICH I looked all over the movie, but there isn't really a sign for him to have picked up her name beforehand? I doubt he would've been to firetown before, and this only supports the theory that this wasn't a truly 'accidental' meeting. It seemed he knew exactly what to do. @@NightmareRex6 I can understand the sponge, but like they are not fully turned into concrete so they should be able to shapeshift out, it is shown later that they can split their bodies apart for Wade delivers himself in 5 separate vases, so they don't need every part of their being to live it just be more convenient for them to have all of it.

This movie is full of those plot wholes, fire people can control their flames, but suddenly they can't, water people can control the water around them, but they can't when it's most needed, etc.

Bro, I literally thought the same thing about Wade. In the Amber family party, I though wow this dude is really egoistic. You have to ruin all the relationships Amber has for your stupid love. And before in the scene out of the train, Wade said Amber was a coward wow that was backstabbing.

I watched this movie 74 times and never really thought of this, although I did question some things like Wade not letting Ember really give her case, or Wade having 2 tickets for an un-explained reason, though my best explanation for that is just he got the tickets to go with someone, maybe family, or a friend, but then they cancelled, and although one could argue he could've just given the ticket to Gale, I don't think that makes much sense because we don't know when Gale bought her ticket, so I think using Wade randomly having 2 tickets as evidence is a bit of a stretch but I could see how that could definitely support your argument, and there is a lot of other, better evidence in this video than "Oh, he has 2 tickets." Another argument I think could be explained away is Wade giving the shop a ticket. Wade says during the crying scene that he needs this job and he's lost so many, so he could be trying to do his job well so he can keep it, there's never any context for the state of his job.

Like the idea that it started as manipulation, but also he thought he would die for good at the end. I don’t think he planned that OR the glass breaking. I’m pretty sure he planned up until Ember’s “coronation,” then went from there.

I dub this a better name, Yandere Wade theory. It make the logistics of the true love scene irrelevant, as Wade falling in love with her would be the thing kicking off all this, so the candles would show them in love with each other either way.

What I honestly didn’t like was how Wade basically confessed during the crying game. Like he could’ve picked a better place and time but noooope he decided to confess when playing a game where you’re tryna make each other cry (in which he succeeded). And than goes to confess in a clearer way when Ember is having her ceremony AND assume she loved him back..obviously in the movie she did but I just didn’t like that at all. The scene really pissed me off and made me cringe

Nah, in the movie they make it clear that Wade comes from a privileged rich family thats full of love and openess of expression so his view of the world its very different from Amber's. He is very vulnerable from their first meeting and is not ashamed of anything he feels and wants so he goes after it and constantly pushes her to do the same, with his mistake being that he didnt take into account that her culture and life and family is so different from him. Its comes off as selfish because he is ignorant and too much of a optimist dreamer. He is not exactly manipulative, just a privileged man in his own bubble.But he learns and listens and learns even more for her eventually.

While I’m not sure about this theory, there is a lot of evidence that does work for it overall. It does not fully explain Wade being willing to die for Amber unless you argue he knew he would just evaporate ahead of time.
@Markus2E5I611 ай бұрын
To be fair, its a bit ridiculous to think no water person has ever evaporated before Wade. He probably heard tales of it happening before (because in this world water people are a separate race and probably have their own cultures and tales). He probably know about water adaptability because what happens to him in winter?

It makes me wonder. With this level of detail it just seems so intentional by the writers. Like you said they almost wrote the theory for you. But what is this movie trying to say? The manipulative parts, while obvious when you highlight it, were too obscured for young, inexperienced audiences to pick up on and it was displayed as a happy ending love story. So young people might just end up thinking that this is what a healthy relationship looks like.
@fuckakakaka10 ай бұрын
maybe the women who worked on the movie wrote from their past romances and just didn't realize they got manipulated lol

Seems like creators of this movie either wrote from their experience (unaware of true implications), or revealed their true manipulative nature without even acknowledging it. Either way, the state of modern western culture is quite sad.
@NotYourWaifu19946 ай бұрын
Y’all really think Wade was manipulative??? He was compassionate…and sweet. He was just getting to know her and understand her better, and help her better understand herself. Because it’s clear from the beginning of the film, Ember taking over the shop was never going to be her goal. It’s what her father wants, not what she wants for herself. She doesn’t honestly know what she wants, cause she never thought about herself. The moment Wade and Ember meet he does nothing but try to help her, while Ember self sabotages her self throughout the film. She keeps bottling up her emotions, which does nothing but have her explode left and right, which proves to be an issue. Any time Ember becomes remotely vulnerable new doors open up for her !!! But the moment she reverts back to bottling up her emotions, she goes back to being explosive. If she was just open and vulnerable, half the things that happened in the film would not have happened. She wants people to help her father and hear her out but won’t give a single reason as to why. It’s not like she wasn’t given the opportunities to speak for herself, but all she says that’s it’s important to her father…not once does she say why…she never goes into detail(though we know why it’s sooo important, not everyone else does). The moment she finally is being truthful to herself, open and vulnerable, to herself, her father, and everyone else around her, that’s when she is at peace !!! That’s when she was able to think straight and ask herself what does SHE want for HERSELF. Did Wade open her eyes to that, yes he did, but he certainly did not manipulate her. He was a voice of reason, he has no issue being vulnerable and open, that’s how he was raised to be. BUT Ember wasn’t, she was born into a family where they started over in a new place and built what they had from the ground up and put all their hopes and dreams into that shop and their daughter, unintentionally causing her some trauma 😅 making her believe all her life that owning the shop was her dream when in fact it was not, never was.
@NotYourWaifu19946 ай бұрын
Any ways, Wade is definitely NOT manipulative, he is quite supportive of Ember. I do think you are over analyzing quite a bit, there’s nothing wrong w/ just being a nice guy 👍🏽✨ which he is just that. A nice guy who met a hot headed girl who just needed to be vulnerable for once in her life. It can be as surface level as that. Now her familial trauma, that’s deeper than surface level, clearly.

Why wouldn’t he like not gonna lie no offense to any men who isn’t this ,but any guy will try to do anything to get the girl, thing ,money cash, order well. The list goes on if he wants this away he’ll figure out a way. That’s just how toxic some people will be, there’s no confirmation from the writers or creators, but I kind of feel like they were putting this message in🧐😞

And wade possebly lost other stuff in his life because when him and ember saw each other again in the hall he said he left his tickits in his office and its possible that when he forgot his tickits in the office and that came to his mind he probebly thought he lost them at first but he then remember were he left them.

There could've been other reasons why wade had two pass tickets but i think the reasons he had two is since he is a really emotional purson its possible that he losses stuff easily so he probably got tow because if he looses one ticket he has a sper just in case.

That last part though was Embers fault because she was the one who tried to fix the hole that was holding all that water, not Wade. Also why did she say she wanted to be with wade forever after his bs sacrifice, she still submitted. In real life you'd think this bih would of caught on by now or something. In a sense Wade was feeling something deep that could of triggered him to know that deep down Ember actually would be down for an eternal relationship with him. You could maybe learn something from Wade and sometimes love is that bizzare. Sometimes things arent always as bad as they seem. In all honesty Wade had nothing to do with those last TWO parts but for the most part I agree with you.

You know, I think this theory actually improves the movie. The "racism against immigrants" narrative fell really flat for me since, unlike in real life, if an immigrant touches me, I don't have a chance of suddenly bursting into flames or having my house burn down. These are physical things that are literally a part of them that are dangerous for others and they can't change them.
