I have had bosses, especially women bosses, who seem to think being a bully badass shows they are strong. I have also been the boss at times and did not feel the need to show strength through intimidation. I could trust my employees because most of them respected me. And the fact I can say this because I'm a woman and if a man says it, it's sexist shows this feminist movement is bogus!

I'm a male in my late 40's, had/having a successful career. The best career mentor i ever had was a woman, i was in my late 20's, she was in her mid 50's. She had an amazing ability to negotiate and never look flustered under pressure. She was just too smart, too quick-witted to be pushed around. I admired her so much. To your point, I once asked her about the 'glass ceiling'. She told me that no man had ever stood in her way, but that women had been trying to tear her down her whole career. It made me question the whole narrative about gender oppression in the workplace.

I have had the exact same experience you described unfortunately the only woman boss I had was one of the most awful people I worked with. Never trusted her “kindness” facade after I watched that episode of Oprah. Same happened for me w Oprah on the episode where she humiliated one of her dinner guests bc they took the gum out of their mouth and set it on their plate. Oprah stated she had to throw the plate away. Lost all respect, what an elitist phony. Oh and Fallon- saw right through him years ago when he filmed himself doing “daily backstage” stuff with his staff. @angelogandolfo41742 жыл бұрын
I just searched for clips of this interview on KZbin. And, daaaaimn!!!! It is one strange, surreal interview, that’s for sure. Just as Joe and his guest here describe, Ellen is dressed as what looks like, almost a fake/fancy dress Military Commander, in a jet-black jacket, complete with shiny buttons up both sleeves, and a host of other shiny ‘decorations’ on the jacket. More like a Pentagon General, giving a press briefing, standing in for the Defence Secretary, or something. BUT the bit I found weirdest was this: the two guys present, were clearly deeply affected by that night. They were both quietly spoken, with little enthusiasm, a flat tone of voice, and ‘slumped posture’. All these are ‘classic’ signs of a seriously low mood, or actual Depressive Disorder. Now, Ellen could have listened to them quietly; helped them to feel safe and more relaxed at that moment; and then, a short, yet helpful and comforting, relaxed-style ‘interview’. But no. Instead, Ellen, in her faux-military General’s jacket, then (as Joe Rogan & Co. discussed) went on to produce detailed layouts of various floors of the hotel, on ‘white boards’ which she put up on the easel behind her, and got these two poor guys (who come across as Very uncomfortable throughout) to walk her through events - making them re-live them yet again. While Ellen used an apparently broken-off car aerial as a pointer. She almost ‘barked’ her questions and comments in that awful, dry, abrasive voice she uses, that would give me a headache at the best of times. It was all VERY bizarre indeed……

Or mowing your lawn with a gas mower (as she has her help use an electric), but then she drives a big ole honkin gas guzzlin SUV. Some folks have been so wounded and hurt by others and/or society, that they develop a super wall around their hearts called stone ego. Stone ego doesn't have much felt empathy nor consideration for others. It's very little self oriented. Personally I don't see it as something to condemn. I feel bad for such people and hope that they can eventually heal. But meanwhile, I try to avoid them and spot them ahead of time.

Like when she had audience members playing games on her show and eventually her actual game show, she literally seemed to take pleasure from them making fools of them selves. Or like the game where she hovers her hand over a button to drop the contestant and does fake out button pushes and stuff, it almost seemed like her torturing people who were afraid of the drop. I know it's a game and the people are there willingly, but it always seemed odd how much glee she had on her face.
