1:28 in terms of reliability and durability, it's actually a downgrade, it's really the Achille's Heel of the E2. Just ask KLM about having to ground a third of their fleet due to engine trouble from those Dependable Engines 🤣🤣🤣 If Embraer chose GE's new-generation engines for the E2 based on their NG34 program, it would definitely have been more reliable, and most likely at least a bit more efficient, too - the PW1900G actually manages only an 11% fuel efficiency improvement over the CF34-10E of the original E190, whereas the GE NG34 was designed for at least 15% fuel efficiency improvement over the CF34 in general. The scope clause has had two unintended effects that, over time, have proven to be for the best: It helped cause the CRJ-550 to come into being, which is widely loved by passengers because of its first class (premium economy, really), and extra legroom economy It (along with the additional material needed for the longer fuselage) happened to have prevented the E175-E2 with its heavier engines from ever getting any orders, which has turned out to be a good thing, because those heavier engines also happen to have been causing lots of trouble. The GTF, far from having it's teething troubles sorted out, not only has continued experiencing trouble since its EIS, has gotten even worse, to the extent of causing a whole airline to cease operations because of engine problems. The GTF is so bad that once some technical issues have been resolved, more pop up, it's been a game of whack-a-mole for years, with no end anywhere near in sight. Imagine how bad the disruption would be if the E175-E2 got into the market! The E175-E2 maybe, just maybe, have a better chance at success if Embraer scales back the fuselage length to exactly match the original E175, and ditches the Geared TurboFailures in order get GE NG34 engines.
