Yes Henry himself was never a good father but so are Mary. Nursing is hard but the words she say when she is near Sammy also say that she wasn't that good to but still somehow trying to be better For Henry, it's his fault but also William's fault for manipulative Henry to not stop working and stay with him more than with his family make him always bring his children to work than playing outside And if you don't know, sometimes Henry is a lost case for his love to Charlie bc when he know that Charlie is in the Puppet, he create Lefty which is none other than a eletric shock machine to keep Lefty inside make her suffering in there. And in the book call "Silver eyes", even when Charlie say stop destroying a frog toy, he still do it in front of her just bc Charlie say she didn't like it. All of that just already show how much bad Henry is as a father

Bro Mrs.Emily was right and wrong at the same time Yea Charlie shouldn’t have been going to the pizzeria but at the same time she could’ve token some time off to take care of them Henry probably mainly took them because they were like 4 so he couldn’t just leave them at home and honestly Mary Henry was being a better parent even if he had a favorite which no parent should do he still took care of her unlike you with Sammy you took care of him but really did you love him you just complain about them with Henry and complain about Henry to Sammy don’t forget you decided to have them it’s not like Charlie and Sammy asked to be born wow I’m so glad I am being raised in a happy household
