@vanjosh77635 жыл бұрын
I've been there and the only reason why they ban swimming ours at night is because of the high tide. The water flow from the cave system flowing towards the sea reverses during the night due to the high tide waters coming from the open sea. Had you also noticed the water flow when you swam there? I noticed it, and it is stronger during the night and chances are you'll get pulled down with the flowing water into the depths of the cave. The water may seem calm due to how crystal clear it is, but don't be fooled by its current during high tide and low tide. Safest hours to swim are during 8am - 4pm.
@bobapearl90925 жыл бұрын
@@vanjosh7763 oh i know that 😊 but us Filipinos are still believing in mythical creatures and when we were little they made us believe that it's their time after 5 and it's easier to explain to the stubborn locals especially children that still want to swim at night, *than* explain to them that they can't swim because of strong current cause obviously they won't believe that.. I guess the stories of mythical creatures also serves as the protection of the river and also for the safety of the tourists and locals also that's why it remained untouched

An example i can find is on what i saw about a documentary in the slums of philippines where the reason they want more children is that they hope that one of them will be successful and get them out of poverty. When its more easier to just have less children and work. Ancestors back then lack the scientific knowledge. They dont have proof for these mysterious beings. Yeah.. My grandmother used to say that the mermaids are living underneath the waters who are protecting the river and if even anyone who tries to harm or throw any trash or disrespect the locals they would get cursed and get sick or even worse the male version of a mermaid that is really ugly called a "shokoy" would take them away and drown them to take them to another world and unlike the beautiful mermaid that have clear pale skin because of the clear waters the shokoy have blue or green scaley skin and have webbed feet and flippers. Like they are bad really bad. They could harm you and cause bad luck. A story once said that there was this bunch of foreigners who was eating chips on the river and they forgot to throw away their trash and left it there floating as if it was nothing. They laughed because they were also racist against the locals and made a joke out of them. The white dude dissed the old man who was warning them to be respectful because they would get cursed by the spirits if they kept with their attitude. The dude and his groups kept laughing since they thought it was bogus until suddenly the guy started throwing up really bad and his body got chills and he was shivering like crazy. He suddenly collapsed and he was rushed to the hospital. After the diagnosis they were was no problem with his body and it was all normal. He had a high fever and his group got really scared and went back to the enchanted river to apologize the locals and searched for the old man they made fun out of but he wasn't there and no one knew him at all. They got so creeped out they literally packed there bags and left lmao So yes Enchanted River is really superstitious since ancient times. It is also believed that it is a portal to another magical world for who knows calls it. Just so you guys might know before you visit please be respectful to the locals and never scatter trash or anything bad because well something bad might happen to you. 🙏

The river has no silt because the area surrounding it still has a beautiful forest and vegetation cover. So it's not really a mystery. The vegetation that covers the soil, helps compact the soil, and prevent excessive soil erosion.

It will always be clean because there is an underwater spring coming out from the underwater cave system. Nature cleans itself. And for the fish, they are fresh water fish and being fed every 12noon by locals.

Respectfully withstanding superstitious/religious/traditional folklore type things, it probably is the filtration through rocks that keeps this place so bluetiful. Nice post, thanks.

I used to swim in that river. You are not allowed to dive in the part where the big fishes are lurking because it's now protedted.It's a mixed warm and cold water so if you are the type of person who can't tolerate cold water like me, you can really enjoy it😊😊😊

I’m a Flip and I know the locals have this ugly habit of making/having their little huts near or ON any bodies of water (whether its a lake, river, coastlines, etc) and shit (literally) under them. The Govt needs to mandate to stop future squatters from building up on or near any bodies...especially that the country is experiencing a “cleaning” craze right now started with Boracay., Manila Bay, etc.
@nissashamiza5 жыл бұрын
I believe there are 'guardians' keeping it so clean
@vanjosh77635 жыл бұрын
Nope, it's the limestone and minerals filtering it. The majority of that land is filled with limestone deposits throughout, and because of that the water is filtered to its clearest and goes through the underground cave system and flows out into the river through the open sea.

Professional divers have said that the current of this river is reversible. You can't easily go deeper because of the strong current going up and sometimes it will suck you down, this is the main reason why some people lost their lives swimming to this mysterious enchanted river.

Yeah well, my cousin threw me in the river without a life vest. I almost drowned but I loved the experience there. It's truly amazing but a hassle to go there, the roads are muddy and bumpy but the prize for your hard work is work worth!
