Since the ground is sinking, the buildings will collapse, so they might as well demolish the entire shopping center. It is not safe for retail with the methane gas leaking

I was there 12/09/2020 and got too close to the building where it was sunk trying to see the bottom of the foundation and when I got home I was very sick with symptoms that I googled were from Methane Gas exposure. There is a very good reason why there are a great deal of blockades around the place and East 93rd is blocked off and the only way to get to the Giant Eagle is by Transportation Blvd.off of Granger or I 480. Please do not get to close to the buildings, especially if you have hyposmia or else you could get sick. The sinking has gotten far worse. It is quite a project going from parking lot to sidewalk, more like a jump. At points the black tar line is 4 feet separated from parking lot to building in the back. The entire place is now secured with very impossible to get into buidings without breaking a window in front of either Giant Eagle customers insanely getting food from a building with methane gas In the back of the place the tar line from the building to the ground is about 4 feet at places. The entire area is surrounded by unfinished buildings

I was in the area this afternoon and decided to check out Cityview after getting hooked on it from the Bright Sun Films youtube “Trash To Treasure”… I got pretty sick getting to close to the buildings Methane Gas in December. And it was even worse today despite the fact that the developers put gravel in all the massive cracks in back and front. The petsmart was still there and the whole place from Granger, Canal, Rockside, and Transportation Blvd. smelled extensively worse. And once again, I am not feeling too well after an even shorter visit with two masks on. Maybe the winter deadened the smells effect and the heat made it worse. The hanging stairs have been removed along with the cracks in the back wall with new gas meters and lines. That will of course become hazardous when the ground keeps sinking. It looks to me and smells to me that they are just covering it up as usual and not doing anything to make it safe to be around. How do Valley View, Garfield Heights and Cuyahoga Heights people live there ?Have you just grown use to it ? Nothing smells normal until you get way down East 71st to CHS or about midway up Rockside to Brecksville Road. There is no way in heck I would buy anything in that Giant Eagle. I survived about 3 minutes before having to run out. Which one of the mountains on the other side of Transportation Blvd. is the garbage ? And is there garbage actually underneath the actual site ? I got out as quickly as possible to just find out what was going on, and see the majestic scene of downhill which ended up being more of a Trojan horse. I can’t imagine anyone will want to work there for too long, no wonder Highland Park was the only bidder. It needs to be torn down and the garbage removed somewhere far away from civilization Why doesn't CVNP, The Metroparks and West Creek take over the entire area, clean it up using all that environmental science stuff they know to make it save for humans and turn it into a park area. And then forget Parmadale and let it become the site of Parmadale's Resurrection discussed on my facebook page. posted July 4,2021 visited last July 3, 2021

Glad to see that it's being rebuilt. This shopping center was beautiful when I opened. I remember watching its construction from the cinema every time we would see a movie when I was a kid. When I went there the first time when it first opened its was a beautiful shopping center. Had little sitting spots between the stores where you could sit and look over the amazing view. Sad that it all closed.

I heard an article I can’t remember where, but I heard that the buildings themselves are structurally sound and the ground it’s on is good but the parking lot and area around them are unstable. They may try to use the buildings again since they are repairing them.
@RichardDremdenWolf3 жыл бұрын
_From what I know, they dug down to the bedrock to stabilize the buildings, so they are secure for the most part, but being so close to the hill, there is a greater chance of erosion and shifting. They are redeveloping the property now to a business park under new ownership. The only retail that will remain is the Giant Eagle._

Thanks for the update, Richard! I’ve been curious about this place as of late. Wikipedia states that a company called ICP has purchased the property and has plans to redevelop into a business park. Which, as you stated is a bit stupid considering the land it is on. Do you know of further information about that?
@RichardDremdenWolf4 жыл бұрын
_All I heard was that it was to be redeveloped into an industrial park, consisting of mainly non-retail businesses. I also heard the old Walmart could be gutted and converted into just warehouse space. The Giant Eagle will remain. Not sure how soon redevelopment will begin on the old structures, but as we could see, they are cleaning it up. Don't know if this attempt is going to be any more successful than the last, so it will be interesting to see._

I hope those aluminium parking lights get scrapped and recycled. Less strain on our natural resources. I can’t see how they think they can attract new businesses and tenants to these stores when the site is sinking and in a state of disrepair in a lot of places. I presume that some of the buildings are still ok??
@RichardDremdenWolf3 жыл бұрын
_Yes, they actually drilled down to the bedrock to anchor the foundations of the buildings, so those aren't likely to sink very much, but they have shifted some. The smell at times would be enough to keep some from ever coming back._
