Ending is great. It wasn't about breaking 4th wall and not even going meta, not as the main point. It was making A LOT of points. How "lie or truth" doesn't matter, matters what we do with them, what we use them for. It was talking about what unwillingness to move on from things we love does to them. And it never said "our fans are bad for liking killing"! It just showed that there is a line that should never be crossed in entertainment industries (*any joke about MrBeast*) And I find the way they were revealing it during trail crazy fun •

Im glad you can explain why you like the ending without sending me a death threat or belittling me in the process. W comment. That said, even if this is the deeper meaning they were trying to relay, 5 hours of tsumugi going on and on about the same thing just isn't fun. Had that portion been cleaned up a bit, maybe I'd enjoy the ending more. This is an interesting perspective though.

@@VodkaSunnyDVodsI think they dragged it on because it was the ending of Danganronpa. When this game first came out people thought there would be more Dangans after this one until they saw this ending. Them addressing the audience was really them talking to all the players. Tbh them “dragging it out” is no different from the other Danganronpas. Something happens they explain it, everyone despairs over it, the MC doesn’t give up on Hope, he tries to convince everyone to believe in Hope, they do, they vote for Hope, the climax happens and Game Over Hope wins. This ending really stands out because it’s an ending to the series. They chose to stop and future killing games for “characters that are written in” with their lives. The only reason this one felt like it dragged out is because once Tsumugi explained they were Real-Fictional characters, THAT was the climax they just did it sooner than the others. And while Juno wanted Despair to win in the end, Tsumugi wanted to manipulate them to trust in Hope to start another killing game the whole time.

And additionally the theme of lie or truth, even though it has been there since the beginning and sprinkled throughout it was never focused on to the degree that would make this ending actually feel earned, it was just little jabs at the theme every now and then, subtle does not necessarily equal good, at least not in this case where you are suddenly bombarded with the main message out of nowhere for so many hours in the trial As a writer this is such an interesting case study for me because it just proves how ridiculously important execution is as a part of writing, it literally makes or breaks your work no matter how good your theme is or how agreeable your take on it is

(Huge yap session incoming🗿) Honestly tsumugi was actually yapping her mouth off. Most of the stuff she said contradicted everything that happened in the killing game 😭 I really don’t think everything went completely on script, if kaede and kokichi manage to actually stop the killing game until she interfered then she’s capping 😭 bc everyone has free will, even kibo that’s why she started scared af when shuichi was tryna end it all. I watched a playthrough of v3 a couple of years ago and I hated the ending but I played it for myself recently and love it man, because of the characters. I liked how the characters performed in that situation more than the twist if that makes sense. Shuichi is def the mvp of that trial bc his development was crazy, bro actually ended a fictional series😭The thing that I love about it, it that even though the ending pretty much said all of this was useless by being fictional, but shu came to that point that their memories are the person standing there right now. They survived fictional struggles which were able to change the world, which means that those lies were a form of the truth and that truth that kept them pushing was a form of a lie, so they both have the same amount of power. Even if everything was fictional it wasn’t pointless and their desires were real (Kinda just repeated what shuichi said but I feel like it’s overlook from the community).I think that’s a perfect way to end a series. Ik how you feel abt tsumugi yapping I get you tho😭 but the actual ending overwrites it for me, I love the character so much I feel like they’re way more realistic compared to the past Dangan games but w series overall

It's quite ironic that the point of this trial was to point out what Danganronpa was trying to give the audience what they want, hope. And guess what? "I reject that hope! " and Vodka instantly hates the ending 😭
