Seeing an "...and you!" in the credits always makes me smile, reminds me that there's real people who put a lot of love into these games. Same goes for all those goofy little jokes which I might not find funny but you know some guy out there did.

Dong Dong Never Die's ending credits really stuck with me. It's similar to Fists of Fire where they show everyone during the behind the scenes stuff, but something about it just feels really special to me. The game is like, a massive shitpost and all, but there was still a lot of real, genuine effort put into it. Everyone in the photos looks like they were having a great time making it (in fact, a lot of pictures don't have anything to do with the game and are just the actors vibing and having fun). The game is so absurd that sometimes you forget real people had to make these by doing simple practical effects, like having on leg lean on a chair in front of a green screen so you can get a tatsu pose. It just surprises you and just ends up feeling really nice after everything you've gone through in the story mode. All of this is overlaid with a soft acoustic Chinese song, and it just makes the credits feel so peaceful and happy. It's almost like the credits are reminiscing over photo album you made while on a big trip with some chums. It's definitely not a feeling I'd expect from a fighting game, let alone _Dong Dong Never Die,_ of all things.

You know tbh, Soul Calibur 2's weapon master and MK9's story mode really hooked me back in the day. I wish fighting game devs cared a little more about their stories and about how players got to engage with them. Also I think the thing about credits you appreciate is they have a really good presentation. I think that's somewhat lacking in modern games.

Oddly enough I don't enjoy, mini game staff roll credits like at all. Simply because it detracts greatly from the sense the your single player campaign being over, and as mentioned in the video you can decompress, sit back, take it in the tunes and appreciate the people involved in making these masterpieces. Maybe I'm just old, but staffroll credits have always been a very integral part of fighting games I play ever since SF II on SNES.

My favorite one was Ehrgeiz. The final boss was baked into the credit scene, and if you can defeat him the right way you will unlock a different ending for certain characters. No one in my family who played the game knew he can be killed, since he doesn't have a health bar and neither is your character, and when I accidentally killed him it was one of the coolest moment I had ever experienced in a fighting games.

One of the odd credits that sticks out to me was I believe the credits of Metal Slug 3. The one where your character tosses their handgun in the ocean and the camera pans down on it as it sinks with bubbles coming out of it as the credits scroll until it lands on the head of some kind of creature, but immediately cuts to a "The End" screen.

To me, MvC1 still takes the cake (alongside Pocket Fighter) for most charming credits sequence. Just seeing the assist characters dicking around just does such a good job of showcasing how much Capcom *loved* their IPs back in the day, especially in recent years where you just don't feel that anymore out of them (but is at least seemingly turning around as of now). Another great video with heart, Obama, and surprisingly well-researched too!

Outside of fighting games, one of my favorite credit sequences is at the end of Super Mario 64. Having the footage of all the levels I played through, paired with the very uplifting background music gave me a real sense of accomplishment for beating game. It made me feel like I went on a unique and fun journey traveling through all these locations (even though some of these levels were definitely frustrating in the moment lol). It’s also the same reason to why I also like the credits for Earthbound/Mother 2, since you get to see all the snapshots from the cameraman who had been harassing you then taking random photos of your adventure the whole game.

It doesn't have directly anything to do with credits, but I really loved the little segments of interviews with the VAs of the cast and even Daisuke himself which were included as extras in Xrd. Even though a lot of the context is the usual japanese formal 101 "We all worked really hard and did our best. Please support us!" kinda talk, there is a certain out of game experience where the cast and even devs can share additional background info adressing the player directly. When I went back to Rev2, and frankly just listened to those for the first time even, it felt like a trip back to the past and gave a feeling of pleasent nostalgia and a sort of intimacy which I really appreciated.

@@doogies Really liked that u decided to talk about the credits or endings in FGs. It's way more fun to mess around in the credits or seein the in game images of characters and backgrounds, art or showcasing the overall gameplay mechanics cutscenes and even lore and comedic effects. KOF 2002s credits is just so entertaining as hell.😂💯 Fatal Fury Special and then Real Bout Special did this too. Also credits can be emotional too like when SNK was about to go bankrupt and since KOF 2000 was their last game they literally put at the end of their credits "Thank you all with love". They were thanking their fans who been playin their games for a long time at that point,as they thought their were about to go under at that point. Other games and FGS like Sly Cooper where they state that the characters have actually moved on to different careers Rayman with its internactable credits where u can stand on them or destroy them Sonic Heroes MK3 The characters jump on screen from below then run offscreen DBZ Budokai games Naruto Ultimate Ninja games SC2 as well Real Bout 1 also integrates the characters ending in the credits So many games have something valuable to offer when comes to they games I miss those times when the heart was their. But enjoyed this a lot keep em comin.👊🏾💯

I always found Jak 2 and 3's ending credits interesting. Because while the credits role, the character models are shown walking up front. You can actively switch between all major characters during credits.. And the voice actors are talking while in character but somewhat break character as like a gag or something. It's kind of hilarious.

Nier Automata's credits transcend what a credits scene is supposed to be to make a deeper statement about the game's themes and message, and I can't think of any other staff roll that even comes close to its level. Another sequence that I remember leaving a mark on me is Earthbound's, with that "I miss you" at the end; being the only voiced line in the whole game it never fails to lend that final tinge of sadness to the conclusion of the journey. And shoutouts to the Brawl Subspace Emissary credits sequence for having the lyrics on screen, I would've never been able to tell what the words actually were in that song without it lol.

Roll credits that have left a very major impression on me to this day come from titles like CvS1 (perhaps the most dynamic fashion of roll credits ive yet to see), Alpha 2 (with its 4 or 5 different songs that will play out depending on who you play as), Spawn IDTH (with its insane track from Vancouver based grunge band Crankshaft and its rather explicit yet deep lyrics), Evil Zone with its beautiful melodic piece that plays out while the characters ending is simultaneously shown alongside the credits, with a final scene and a final words from the character at the very end. Last but not least, Rival Schools. Something about the way the game further expands on the characters lives in a rather simple yet elegant fashion thru art stills drawn in different styles from one another. It evokes and fosters building a personal bond with the player, and the characters and gameworld they inhabit (something many fighting games today totally lack in trying to accomplish or don't bother with anymore) coupled with that gorgeous piece by Setuso Yamamoto. I get emotional just thinking about it. That of piece of art with Hinata, Kyosuke, Batsu in class, and Batsu dosing off... I can relate to that shit so much as Jr. High kid playing RS for the first time.

Oddly enough, one that immediately comes to mind is the story endings from GGXX. There’s nothing like having a sad ending, like Sol once more standing over Justice’s dead body. A sad piano slowly playing over the credits. Or Ky and Dizzy starting their new life together, with some happy rock. Or one of the other endings that’s a simple slow blues-ish type track. That’s what I love to see.

I really like when there's some simple after-story scenes playing out behind the text-scroll. That said, I can't remember many stand-out sequences. The most unique credits I think I've seen for games in general are interactive, stuff like dodging the names/titles or racking up points for hitting them. That doesn't really leave the player much time to read the credits tho.

So after finishing up I was excited for the next entry. Playing arcade after and beating it For some reason the arcade credits hit me hard. Just seeing the fine clean sprite work of the whole cast scroll past in the credits next to the names of many who made this game, along with a somber yet heavy rock version of stardust memory playing had me feeling sad yet happy. There's three in particular in Third Strike that I feel leave the biggest impact. Remy's, Gill's, and Q's. Remy comes to terms with his sister's death and his father's abandonment and moves on, promising to grow as a person as he lets his sister's body sink into the ocean, Gill's final plan is shown but put in a sympathetic light, and we see what everyone in universe knows about Q before it presents yet another question about his identity. The former two using the somber piano ending theme really helps bring them together and Q's using the high energy one that seems like it was make specifically for his ending

the one that sticks with me is Ergheiz; God Bless the Ring's credits, wherein you fight a super boss in what looks like some sort of abyss with ring ropes, and and it's one round, and often times I'd get bodied, and you have to spend the rest of the credits listening to his eerie music, unable to control your character as they lay there and the boss just continues to OTG them and make feral screams. It was super eerie and unsettling to me.

Man, SFA3's endings always hit so hard in their presentation; the fact that you CAN'T continue once you reach M. Bison kinda helped, not to mention the extra endings made for the console-exclusive characters that spanned the PS1, GBA, and PSP ports. The ending credits for most (?) of "Super Smash Bros." games has three speed settings: normal, fast/skip, and stop. The last one pretty much allows you to take in the names AND roles of anyone featured in the credits. A nice touch, especially since they've been skimping out on crediting the legacy songs since Brawl. Who composed "Snake Eater"? Konami! Okay, but WHO wrote the song? Konami! What about the original battle songs from FF7, who wrote those? Square-Enix, of course! And so on, but I digress. Finally, the ending credits for the original SF4 has the announcer closing out the session with some words befitting the conclusion of any fighting game experience (you can watch it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4mZemN4n5qKj7c): This marks the end of an epic battle. The winner emerges with the pride and honor of a hard-won victory, but also with a nagging sense of uncertainty. The loser walks away with a heart heavy with shame and anger, ready to make a new start and fight again another day. Both warriors know that this isn't truly the end. Neither one's potential has been truly reached and there is much hard training ahead. They'll never forget the days of exchanging blows at a fever pitch. They'll never forget the days of lost hope, of self-loathing. Once they've caught their breath, the warriors will return to the ring. This is the burden of the true fighter: there's no other choice. Who knows where their next opponent lies? This story may be over, but the battle is just beginning!

Very insightful! Definitely didn't think about the break from the action, the decompressing: like jazz musicians who will say silence has just as big a role as the noise-- transition, focus, etc. The credits are an interesting thing for games or most media as it allows the developers to break the 4th wall and address or make silly moments that expand on the personality of the game. As movies might have extra scenes, literature can have prologues that explain things or show off certain things that might be missed. Anyways, good video. Cool to include the idea of credits from film as a synthesis to fighting game credits.

Another banger video dude but what comes to my mind is the Nier Automata one where the game goes into a bullet hell sequence as the player attempts to defeat the "developers". We are also accompanied by other players who sacrificed their save file in order to helps us with the battle. At the end we are given a choice to either do the same thing and sacrifice our own save file in order to help another player or not. One of the best ending screens I’ve seen in any video game is from the JRPG Omori, it’s hard to talk about without spoiling but the ending credit screens change depending on the ending you get and imply the outcome of your characters in very interesting ways that leave you intrigued as your suspicions become clearer and clearer untill the final moments leaves you shocked. Very good game, I would recommend watching the endings to see what I mean if you dont plan on playing the game

Awesome vid! Reminded me that in the Ehrgeiz credits you basically have until the end of them to fight the last boss, and if successful you win items.

I really loved the ending pictures you got in SSF2T of the characters living their lives or training, like Sagat doing the one-finger push-ups or Dee Jay chillin' at the beach. It just gives a bit more personality to the characters I feel, and a nice follow up to see what they're doing after the tournament.

Fatal Fury and more notably KOF does this too. Where they show images of the chracters doin different activities and showin what they like to do outside of fighting. And some can even be comedic too

I think that Nier Automata has my favorite credits. Getting to fire at the names of the devs while weight of the world played was fantastic. Alongside potentially losing and then getting help from other players. While the game tells you that you could get assistance.

Earthbound/Mother 2's credits is definitely the most memorable for me, showing off the entire cast of characters and NPCs one last time and then having the actual credits scroll while the pictures you took during your adventure show up, which I will be frank, I totally forgot about by the time I was done with the game. It was a nice surprise.

*smiles at SFA3 ending theme* The most memorable ones for me have a lot to do with the music coupled with imagery. Honestly, Street Fighter 2 Ryu's ending blew my mind the first time I saw it (80s kid here). Marvel vs Capcom, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Capcom vs SNK endings are still in my top 10 to this day. The minigame ones were fun too.

Not fighting games but still CAPCOM so I'm not straying too far from the nest, but my favorite credits sequence in any game has always been the DMC series credits where you get to beat ass once more. Hell, I'm pretty sure most of them, if you manage to beat a certain amount of demons before the credits end, you get a secret cutscene as a reward. DMC5 somehow iterated on the concept further, by making the credits of your first playthrough a literal fucking tutorial for your character's full power, which is only unlocked after you finish the game for the first time. That, to me, is the best use of credits in any video game. It's both a conclusion to a fan favorite series with the main character finally realizing his full power, and an invitation to the player to play again with the new tools he has finally unlocked.

My favourite ending is the one from, BBCPEX. Its simple. Has Character illustrations and the staff roll, but the music: "Game Over" makes me feel warm inside. Like its literally telling me thank you for playing and I'll see you next time ;)

a credits roll that I often think about is in Devil May Cry 3 where if you kill 100 demons before the credits are over you get a secret cutscene.

I can't really speak for fighting game credits, but I fondly remember collecting the bananas during the credits of Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2, while avoiding the names of the Staff Members. Just really wanted to add that these types of videos are really solid, you're making me want to look up the credits of my favorite games now lol

Engaging credits is somewhat of a lost art huh? I booted up Tatsunoko not to long ago and was actually pretty giddy about the forementioned credit roll. It's not a fighter, but Super Monkey Ball's mini game credits is one of my favorites, if not a bit frustrating lol. Once again not missing a beat, great stuff, Obama.

Bit of a tangent from credits at first but one of the things I love the most about fightans is that they *don't* end but not in the 'forever game' sense- it's that the games reward you for learning them and that sticks with you for a long time. There's no 'winning' a fighting game, but you win things *from* it. Unlike, say, a gacha game or a builder game, you can just stop playing a fighting game and not leave anything unfinished. If the match, tournament, arcade mode is over it's over, but the game isn't complete. Even if you 100% a fighting game, you might not be done with it. And this is, amusingly, one of the things that has made me see their end credits way more times than any other piece of media. Back in the arcade seeing the credits was a *reward* even

Fighters' Megamix had notable credits because each course you cleared in arcade mode had music and artwork unique to the course you played through. It also did the AM2 thing of saving your replays to play throughout the credits in-between the artwork they showed off.

The nostalgia of Melee's end credits just hit me so damn hard, I forgot all about that. Also shout out to Smash 4's end credits where you had to attack the names to knock them backwards and complete the picture. It was honestly a super fun way for a casual like me to get better with arials and timings.

mvsf ending credits.. great celebratory song.. naming the narrator always hits well, and them thanking you at the end.. loved everything about it. we were not rich in the philippines, but we werent gonna buy pirated games, so we relied on others who go to the states to get games for us. no one sold original games there. its one of the few games we had on ps1 and i carried over even to the ps2 era. when you love a game because it’s all you have, it dont even feel like you missed out on anything..

talking about the end credits, makes me think of Guilty Gear, especially Xrd and Strive Those 2 games have full length credit songs with vocals and meaning which makes sitting through the credit worthwhile. Icarus, Let's Talk About You, and The Name of Heaven to name a few are my favorites
