I really hope that they incorporate physical muppets into the new muppets area somehow. Idk if they do it anymore, but Disney used to do a little muppets show called “great moments in history” over by hall of presidents. I hope they do something like that by rockin roller coaster, it would add so much to the ambience, especially for people who can’t/don’t want to ride the roller coaster.

Muppets 3D on Disney+ would not have the same effect as the show in the theater because there are characters involved in the physical space that directly affect the plot of the show. The only way they do it on Disney+ that would be remotely acceptable is reshooting those scenes/changing the plot for it to make sense. The show's plot is directly tied to it being in a theater.

I like the Muppets for the Rock N Roller Coaster. I do not like the show going away, which is why I watched it three times back in September during my last trip. I hope they move it somewhere and preserve the show without just slapping it on Disney+ and calling it a day.

My feelings on this are mixed. I really don’t want them to remove Muppet Vision. I think the rest of it is fine, if they could just move Muppet vision down Sunset Blvd by Rockin Roller Coaster, and just have a mini Muppets area. That would be the most ideal situation. And then rethemeing the Muppets courtyard would be fine.

And I don't think reskinning a coaster is a suitable replacement either, because that eliminates all of the younger Muppet fans as well as some of the older ones, or people with disabilities. The Muppets deserve a dark ride that's accessible for everyone.

My thoughts are that they will build the Monsters Inc. roller coaster first before tearing anything out of Muppets Courtyard because that’s outside of the area. Therefore Muppets will be playing for several years yet and they it will eventually be moved into where the villains show is going which will go away when the villains land opens making a new Muppets Courtyard, putting the Miss Piggy fountain back out in front of the Rocking Roller Coaster now themed to Electric Mayhem. Electric Mayhem will be preforming Rock and Roll Classic as they did in The Muppet’s Show keeping the aesthetics that Aerosmith music did. This all has to do with licensing and IP. Rocking Roller Coaster will happen first once the contract with Aerosmith ends. Meanwhile the ground will be broke for the new show building as long as they can get in to tear down the Muppets Store that needs to be removed.

I immediately went “nooooo!” Upon reading the title, we all knew this was coming, but its still unfortunate. Muppet Vision 3D is a piece of history- a dated, slightly obscure piece of history, but still important nonetheless. It’s Jim Henson’s last work, his last curtain call for the Muppets, it deserves to be seen as it was intended for generations to come, not just slapped on a paid subscription service. I will admit I am very excited they’re going with the Muppet Rock n’ Rollercoaster retheme. I love that ride, but as many times as Ive been on it, I never really cared for the preshow or the very basic “we gotta get to the rock concert” theme starring Aerosmith, they’re just not a band I really care about. So putting physical Muppet animatronics, Muppet songs, visuals, audios, jokes and references? Now THAT I am interested in seeing, even if Disney gets heavy-handed with modern influences, the Muppets *need* to come back into the spotlight

I do think theming Rock 'n' Roller Coaster to the Muppets is a great and hilarious idea, but it's also the case that that's the *most* extreme coaster at Walt Disney World, and the Muppets are a theme with broader appeal, so, yes, there needs to be something else if they want to make adequate use of the Muppets. Could be MuppetVision 3D, could (more likely) be an entirely new show.

I agree, after sitting on it a bit and mulling it over, I don’t hate the idea of the Muppets taking over Rockin Rollercoaster, depending on how they execute the changes. Personally, I think they should do Muppet covers of iconic rock songs (I Wanna Rock and Roll All Night, Bohemian Rhapsody, etc.) rather than teaming up with “today’s biggest stars.” I am holding my breath on what they will do with the movie…my hope is that they will put it where the villains show is going to be and then it’s like we have a little Muppet corner.

D, I loved how you threw in the Peoplemover in there! I guess it would be ok to change RR to a Muppets coaster. You had a valid point (one of many), there will be younger guests who will be disappointed but they won’t reach the height requirement. Muppets Vision…..bring it to Disneyland….replace Monsters Inc. Move Laugh Floor to Monstropolis….it belongs there. It really does not belong in Tomorrowland! Also, bring back the Peoplemover…..I don’t even care if it is renamed Chicago Transit Authority, or whatever WDW called it ( yes, I know that is the original name for the band, Chicago). I'm wondering if they could eventually connect the Star Tours simulators to the Monster's Inc area? It sits right behind Pizza Rizzo. Now that Smuggler's Run exists, Star Tours is not needed and is out of place. Put Mike, Sully, and Boo in the driver's seat. I also hope that they put Muppet Vision 3D in the recently closed Cars Theater and dedicate that entire area to Muppets. And Please - relocate the Miss Piggy fountain back there too. Do you think they would move Muppet Vision next door to Figment and take over the old Magic Eye Theatre? It already has all of the special effects built into the theater. And the floor moves - an extra effect that the current theater doesn't have. Put a Kermit/Miss Piggy meet and greet where Mickey used to meet and it all works. Muppets fit into the Imagination theme. I think Kermit and Figment could be good neighbors.

I am so bummed they'll be pulling this before I had a chance to take my kids to see it. Regarding preserving the movie itself, the best option is to relocate it. But, as you said, we know they won't. So, what I would like instead is a VR-compatible experience. As a VR owner, I think doing a high resolution, 360° capture of the show as it is right now, would be a wonderful thing to experience in VR. You would keep all the 3D effects, the surrounding environment of the theater would be viewable and you would truly feel like you are right there IN the theater. This would be an amazing thing if they were to do this, but with VR adoption rates so low, I doubt they'll put the effort into something like this. Even though I feel it's the best possible way to experience MuppetVision 3D outside of being in the show building itself.

The addition of Muppets to Rock N Roller Coaster is what I have wanted for years, so that definitely brightened the awful news about Muppet Vision 3D, but as soon as I heard that I immediate had the same idea as you...put it where Lightning McQueen is! Re-theme that whole area to Muppets! I seriously think that'd be a win/win. We get to keep Muppet Vision, so their hardcore fans are happy, they revitalize that area and still get to use the other area for Monsters Inc. Nobody loses.

Launch Bay deserved to close instead of this… 😑 that is an empty space in the park that deserved to get a refresh of a new area. Hopefully in the next 6-12 months, there’ll be plans to close Launch Bay for a new land, since this is not where Monstropolis will be I honestly wouldn’t be shocked if Disney is planning on an Owl House land(based on the animated series that more people should check out) to take the place of the Launch Bay area and would confirm it at the 2025 Destination D event

The Electric Mayhem on the coaster would be awesome! But as someone who gets motionsick easily, I won't be able to ride it, except by listening to the soundtrack of a ridethough video. That connects into my other recent thoughts that there aren't enough plans for new or enhanced slow/dark rides. I want to go on rides, I don't want to get sick.

Muppets 3d should be moved, and most Disney Vloggers on KZbin are literally in agreement about this, suggesting it should be moved to the area behind Rockin Rollercoaster. Rockin Rollercoaster is going to be s hard sell to parents with small kids, because the babies won't be able to go onto the rollercoaster with them, and so the Muppets are now going to be another thing families can't enjoy together which negates Walt's original vision for his parks.

The original muppets show was all about highlighting current (for the time) as well as iconic pop music stars, so I feel like muppets taking over the Rock ‘N Roller Coaster makes sense. It’s on brand. Just watch a few episodes (or seasons) of the original muppets show and it will make sense. That being said, au revoir Rock ‘N Roller Coaster avec Aerosmith… le encore. And yes, putting the film part of MuppetVision on Disney plus will be awful, because Jim Henson directed the entire experience. The animatronics, the visual effects in the environment, Sweetums walking through the room, the lobby and the preshow will all be lost. It’s upsetting.

This new ride excludes children, the elderly, those with medical conditions, and more with fears of coasters/thrill rides from ever seeing the Muppets again in an attraction. This is 100% a net loss for guests and was just a slap and dash decision.

You’re exactly right, which is why Disney would be making a terrible mistake in removing Muppet Vision 3D from the park entirely. It takes away not only an important piece of Disney and Muppet history, but it’d take the only remaining Muppet-themed attraction that *everyone* can enjoy. Technically they are not removing the theater or a show in the theater, they are reskinning it to Monster's Inc. The other new ride is down in the back of the courtyard. So it is technically not a net loss unless you like the Muppets.

How big is the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor building? I legit haven't been in there since it was Circle Vision with the Timekeeper and I was 10. What are the actual legitimate replacement ideas if they move Laugh Floor to DHS? Otherwise the immediately entrance to Tomorrowland from the hub is kind of barren with two empty show buildings.

last time i was in disney world i made sure to go on muppetvision 3d as much as possible because i was certain it would be engulfed by star wars given its position in between star tours and galaxys edge im hopeful for the new monsters inc area and attraction, but i am worried about the muppets their plans seem to me more like an overlay than anything -- its disney, so i doubt theyll use animatronics, and the idea that they'll use current artists, which will make the attraction age very quickly, just gives them an excuse to revamp it with a different ip when the time comes we know that disney doesnt care much about the muppets, so they might be phasing out the muppets from the parks altogether...
