And yet powerhouse programs are still losing to teams most people have never heard of.

There's no doubt, that the transfer portal has saved the careers of a lot of college football players. Great video!

I think that as this situation continues to evolve, programs that do well will have coaches who are good teachers and who are intellectually capable of evolving their systems. Recruits will eventually be more attracted to programs that have coaches that will develop them. Overall, this may be quite good for the game.

Coaches are going to have put forth more effort to prove their value to these athletes from now on for sure!!

🌊🌊🌊 The AAC is the next Power conference right now.
@TalkingHeadMediaАй бұрын
A lot of talent and some respectable coaches in that conference for sure!!

@@TalkingHeadMedia IMO the numbers are more in favor of building a stronger conference than betting on a TV Contract that’s immediately favorable or betting that the travel and marketing expenses of a nearly bi-coastal football conference would be affordable. The #AAC is pushing P5 powerhouses to the limit every week. Every year in every P5 conference there are 2-3 “football”schools that do not want to play certain G4 schools. My unsolicited opinion is that there are at least 4schools in the AAC that would rather play top tier P4 talent than those 2-3 “football”schools.

I think you mean the end of the smaller brands having a chance at winning a Natty in Football. Powerhouses only fall when there is a major scandal. For example, SEC and B1G schools, FSU, Miami, Clemson, Utah, and Notre Dame will continue to recruit at the highest level, getting the biggest, fastest, strongest football players. They will continue to poach the most innovative and inspiring coaches that are on the rise and pay them what none of the other schools can pay them, like my Baylor Bears 🐻 👋🏾💚💛 However, WVU, which was a big brand with a storied history and tradition of winning is being left behind, they're not getting a big tv contract guaranteeing them $50-$80 per year like the top 2 conferences. The SEC has literally 2 generations of young players seeing one of their schools either win the Natty or be in the Natty. I wish this could be like Men's NCABB where a smaller brand with "ok" facilities could win, but the reality is that the powerhouses have stadiums of 80k+, state-of-the-art training and rehabilitation programs/docs, firm pipelines from college to pro, all the fame and more NIL opportunities.

You make some valid points! These big name schools at the end of the day will still most likely out recruit the smaller programs in terms of raw numbers. The idea is more of the position the coaches of these programs are placed in with the continuous rotation of players seen in the transfer portal. These powerhouse programs, even the top SEC schools like UGA, are experiencing less depth at extremely valuable positions. So when the 5 star athlete they pay so much money in NIL and exhaust efforts to recruit in one off season don’t pan out, these programs are likely to experience a “down year” in comparison to their history. Which is why FSU was such a good example!

WVU fan here. We ARE being left behind, along with a bunch of other schools. And since I can't do anything about it, I guess that's just the way it is.

Please correct yourself. FSU has only won 3 national titles, NOT five.
@drwinstonOboogiАй бұрын
FSU claims 3 national titles. FSU could claim 9 if they chose to use Alabama's standards.

You are correct my apologies, the premise is still the same.

This is mostly true, except a couple choice schools. Texas made the four team CFP in 2023 but lost several standout players on both sides of the ball. In the past this would have hurt next season's win potential. Instead, rather than have to go through the old process of recruiting a standout freshman and taking the next couple years to develop them, Texas poached experienced, proven players FROM OTHER POWERHOUSES to replace them. The transfer portal is going to lift the Group of 5 by making the true elites unreal. Texas had Quinn Ewers, Malik Murphy and Arch Manning on the roster. Texas can bring in 5 star recruits, have them compete against each other and the loser goes to start at some lower school (like Duke) and Texas is left with only the monster players. I would not be surprised if in a couple of years the elite teams (basically anyone with multiple titles) field rosters wherein not a single starter has fewer than four stars. Texas and tOSU are the top two wealthiest programs in college football. With NIL money these teams will have their own private draft and leave everyone else what they didn't want, and then every year they can redraft from other teams. These teams will become college football's New York Yankees, buying the best talent and leave everyone else the leftovers. Despite being a Texas-Ex I hate that the game has come to this, except for the fact that the talent being sold finally gets compensation for their work product.

Yea the entire system definitely needs some revision! Naturally, certain programs will be able to maneuver in this current new landscape easier than others.
@russellhaskett6830Ай бұрын
Powerhouses will live forever BECAUSE of the portal and NIL. What is happening is the bottom half of the power 4 conferences are now equal to most schools from the G5. The powerhouses will dominate the playoffs and give all the G5 teams a first round loss if they make it in.

Yes most likely, the year to year unpredictability is still something that warrants the conversation! Thanks for watching🙏🏾🙏🏾

I think NIL has ruined college football the most I hate it so much
@floridasportsworldАй бұрын
I think NIL has helped, we now have a plethora of teams who can compete and not just USC, Bama, FSU. same ol same. You will see the likes of UCF or a NIU win a national title in the future. Make college better than the NFL. I love NIL
