I started Warhammer in 1996/97 with Lizardmen. Catachan in 2000 and Tyranids in 2006 who are now my main faction. Seen a huge, greedy beyond inflation price change over that time. Yes, miniature quality has improved. I have a soft spot for some metal mini sculpts but hated painting metal and resin. Oh and also, love you @Discourseminis !!!

I started dwarfs on the cheap with some prints and a few official kits just to finish what i already had, then realized i actually had quite a few scattered kits i could use for Ironjawz/black orcs and pumped them up a little bit. Both will take the airbrush pretty well and not take a massive amount of time to finish.

@@NightfallTH I've admittedly only played OPR twice so far and that was about a year ago now, but both games were played within the same 4 hour time slot, the rules are familiar yet different to 40k, in that they are actually simplified, quick to learn, and fun to play. The alternating unit activation means no one gets subjected to an alpha strike on turn 1, as often happens in 40k so it feels like a fairer system to play.

Regarding Infinity, please be aware that there will be a "initiation box" (Infinity essentials), a 3V3 models box with some hard and thick cardboard (read at your own peril, you slaaneshi dirty minds...), a plastic-paper mat, CARDS for those models and a reduced set of rules (CodeOne is dead, at long last, and thanks for that). Models will be 2 basic infantry (Keisotsus and Fusiliers) and 1 heavy infantry (Shikami and ORC) each, old sculpts that are NOT in the upcoming Operations box but belong to the same broad factions (think "Space Marines" as the "broad" and specific chapters or the Deathwatch for the focused factions). The Japanese models in this box are currently being sold in the "JSA Action Pack" for the 2 keisotsus, and the Shikami (Contender) blister (which is one of the few blisters with extra arms and heads).

As someone who has been playing Blood Bowl (on and off) since the early 90s I'm really excited to see how the revamped Chaos Dwarf team plays There are many in the BB community who think that they've been made worse by the change of replacing Tackle with Iron Hard Skin but GW implied that IHS is being rewritten to make it a much better skill Until we have more information it's hard to say whether this actually makes them worse but, personally, I'm happy that they aren't just a Dwarf team with different extras anymore and are a unique team in their own right As for 40k... I remember when people complained about releases being pumped out too swiftly, now they're complaining about not enough releases Really what we can take away from this is that hobbiests are never f'n happy

It's not even 4 months off. That's 16 weekends. They usually take 2 weeks off over Christmas. At the time, there was still Blood Angels, which are likely to take 2-3 weeks. There's Skaven, Stormcast Eternals, and (ironically revealed at the Nova event) Slaves to Darkness. These also are likely to be 2-3 weeks of releases. Blood Bowl Chaos Dwarfs will probably be this year based on previous reveal/release timelines, so that's another week. Warriors of Chaos for the Old World also likely to be spread over 2-3 weeks, along with some "Made to Order" weeks. Kill Team will use another week or 2. And Horus Heresy will have its mechanicum independent release weekend. And then there's the Christmas Battleforces, which usually take a week or two depending on if they split the releases by game. So that's probably 11 weeks of releases, minimum. The release pipeline is actually pretty damn full. But just like wargaming being more than Warhammer - Warhammer is more than just 40k.

I'd like to add my 2 cents: I tried Bolt Action a couple of times and while I find the idea behind it very interesting and overall like the rules, I think that it lacks a little bit the "40k effect" (epic-idiotic things happening, spectacular stuff, heroes... and the minis). It is a good game and I think that serves really well if you like the setting. With a friend of mine we are planning to blend BA and 40k (3rd or 4th ed I think) mechanics and use them for 40k. I'm pretty excited. The other thing is, while I understand that the (gaming) world has gone towards a constant stream of contents, expansions, new stuff coming out and being announced (the "eternal beta-version"), why can't people just enjoy what they have? You really like 40k? Then you don't need new stuff every month/week because you enjoy what you have. If gw actually finished a game that I like and then dropped it for good, I'd be happy. I'd have a game to play and enjoy and not constant struggle to keep up with rules and crap coming out. I suspect I'm rather alone in this, but I like painting and gaming and imagining epic stories, not constantly waiting for shiny new toys

It's gonna be a quiet winter for me. 40k is the only current TT game I have any interest in. I play Krieg so I'm in a limbo of nothing to buy, nothing to paint, nothing to do. I guess Killteam is something to look forward to since I collect GW terrain. The Vespid look cool too. Some notes on this video: I never played any of the Witcher games. Bolt Action is more fun when you use Flames of War models (makes the scale and ranges more realistic). Infinity feels incredibly niche. It has a very strong cyberpunk/anime aesthetic which isn't for everyone. For example, I enjoy 40k because it isn't cyberpunk/anime. There are maybe 3 or 4 models in the entire range that would even remotely be interested in painting, let alone owning. 40k, DnD, MtG and a little AoS are the only games that get played in my area at any of the shops/clubs. Maybe some Lorcana or whatever it's called and some Pokemon. By the time I would talk someone into playing a new game and we get models ready... It'll be 2025 and the Krieg will be released.

The big difference between wargaming and video games is how you play it though. Like, if I'want to try My shameless stepmom, I buy it, install it and play two hours whenever I want. If I want to try Infinity, I buy it, then I have to find a club or friends that are interested in the game, have a schedule that correspond to mine, are also willing to buy the miniatures, and finally play with th them.... It's not impossible of course, but it's a lot of loops to go through to try a new thing 😅

Turnip28: A game for fans of Nurgle taking inspiration visually from Blanchitsu. Pathetic peasants kick each other to death in the mud while larping as Napoleonic armies that have been dead for a thousand years, fighting over their favorite vegetables. Very Monty Python. The Silver Bayonet: Werewolf and Vampire hunters in the Napoleonic age of black powder. Great for Bloodborne fans. Team Yankee: 1980s World War 3, the Soviets and Americans are finally dropping the pretenses and landing tanks on shores. Based on an actual scenario penned in the 80s and published as a novel by a US Army Lieutenant. Played in 1/100 Scale.

Looking at warhammer stock online and at my FLGS this year makes me sad. Boring releases, overpriced items, large box sets with one mini I might want, too many new rulebooks i don’t want. I think I’ve spent 1/10th this year on GW compared to what I spent in the last several years. And the box sets are only a half decent value compared to buying the same items ridiculously overpriced individually. I have turned to other new games instead. Am I the only one?

Im quite disappointed from 10th edition... not so much by the marginal rule improvements (better data sheet structures) but it has been oversimplified, now with rules updates over updates overcomplex and difficult to follow. Worst for me are the slim 2-6 pages codex army rules, where a lot of my favorite factions completely lost their flavour.. (eg votann becoming a horde army, IH loosing 6++, etc...). I stopped buying 10th ed codexes - too much €€€ for too little in return.

The game is alright. Some of the fights are interesting because you’re constantly trying to push back your opponent. Really bad when you’ve got like 30 models in a fight though. Rules are super simple. Almost too much so.

40k isnt dead. Not at all. Its more the people wanting to play are fed up for the continuous replace everything. Imagine they could stream line the rules and continuously update them for free on a platform/app that everyone could access for free. Imagine they could take a hit and keep prices down. Not only would loads of people come to the game but those already there would buy more and more armies. I feel like GW are living in the 90s whike trying to use a 2010 marketing model. Only thing keeping them going is the whales, its jst a case of time to see if those whales go extinct. Im getting into playing warmaster...why? Cos its a fraction of the price and you can have massive battles of hundreds of "models" that fit in a tiny box.
