Love your approach (hehe) to easing your mind and increasing your GIR percentage by firing at greens vs firing at pins. Nicklaus would agree as his philosophy was, and I quote; "The middle of the green should be your default target. In my career, I always preferred a pair of 69s than to card 65-85. It doesn't matter how talented you are. If you habitually go directly at flagsticks, hoping every round might be a scorcher, you're going to shoot way more scores at the high end of your range." Love the Canadian content ! Please plan a trip to Cape Breton Island and play Highlands Links ! At one point it was number 1 in Canada and 57 in the world You wouldn’t be disappointed with a Cape Breton Island trip with Highlands Links , Cabot Cliffs and Cabot Links etc! My coach as a kid taught me to make a generous grid in my head as a landing area and block out everything. Play for the center of grid and if loose a little left or right still in your grid it helped. I found seeing a physical grid in my head made me not notice any trouble like bunkers, water, and trees. If someone has trouble seeing your shots or hitting your targets I highly recommend. It’s the one thing from my first lessons as a kid that I never tinkered with or had other coaches try to change.

Beauty! I missed out on my tee time when I was out there 2 summers ago after getting run off the road by a school bus and having to buy (because there were no vehicles to rent) a new vehicle to get my family through the rest of our vacation. I was looking forward to be playing there. We did manage to sneak in 9 and Dundarave on the east side (to satisfy my itch of golfing on the island) and that was a pretty nice spot too! 👍
