At the end of Ahsoka episode 8, Baylan Skoll walks towards the edge of the Father's outstretched hand, as he sees the glimmering mountain peak in the distance. This is the same scene from The Clone Wars where Anakin Skywalker followed the path to the mountain and met the Father.

I’m so sick of these star wars shows being named after one character and then putting the spotlight on another. The only time Ahsoka felt like the main protagonist was during the clone wars flashbacks. Baylan’s character has great potential, I wouldn’t mind a recast.

There are no easy answers when it comes to how to handle Balan’s character after Ray’s death, but I think recasting him is the best option. Simply killing him off-screen would just be cheap and insulting to Ray’s performance.

best way to go about it is say he becomes the son and it changes his physical appearance just like the son was able to transform. then cast someone who looks like the son and have sam witwer do the voice from tcw for the son. so it's baylan's character but with a different appearance.

It’s possible there were more scenes with Baylan but they left it there to make it seems more conclusive or save his scenes for the next project. It’s very sad that Ray not only didn’t get to see the embrace from the fans but perhaps also not finish his story.

How would this characater have gotten to Mortis? And why Baylan? Disney Filoni have told no story or background to anything. 8 episodes and you know nothing. This just has to stop. Unbelievably bad stories and story telling. You deserve better.

When Ezra closes the mural on Lothal. The Son whispers “the future by its very nature can be changed”. I always wondered if this could potentially allude to his return in the future. I really hope that he is the power calling to Baylan and we get to see him in some form in live action.

So Ezra saw the mural on the temple in rebels. How cool would it have been to have had Ezra and Ahsoka have a conversation about what happened in the Mortis Arc just to introduce new fans to the concepts. Ezra probably has seen the statues if he was on the planet that long, and sensed a dark energy that he protected himself from. Ahsoka could have asked "What do you know about this planet?" and he could have told her about the statues that were just like the mural on the temple. This could have lead to a discussion about Ahsoka's experience on Mortis, and how one of the dark jedi that came there with them, Baylon, is looking for something on this planet, something not related to Thrawn. We also could have used a scene with Shin trying to rejoin Thrawn and being rejected, as Thrawn did not like Baylon and judges padawans by their Masters. This would have explained why she was still on the planet and joining the bandits. Also would have appreciated a scene of Ezra escaping in the shuttle. I liked the show overall but including the above information in epi 7+8 would have made it a 9 out of 10.

I get the impression that Filoni would go straight to the pool of knowledge. We'll probably see Baylan from the back wearing his hood (so that we can't see the actor) walk up to it, take a drink and then he becomes what The Mother might have been or he becomes controlled by her. Either way even before the Ones reveal I had a feeling he'd be consumed by, controlled by, or a host for what ever it was he was chasing so this makes even more sense to me how they might handle it.

I think a interesting point about the Mortis gods is that they are not just the gods of the main Star Wars galaxy but maybe of the whole universe since we know about their presence in another galaxy where the force exist also! Could that make anakin one of the strongest beings in the Star Wars universe👀? Just a theory I had thought about when watching!

All the other Mortis gods are dead. Abaloth is reaching out to Baylen through the force in an effort to have someone free her. This makes sense as to why even the nightmothers want to get out of there.

I feel like Baylen kept hearing this "call in the force" because his fate does not lie in any sides that we already know but rather in the "gray area". Maybe he will become the new Father as a replacement but if he would return, how would his apprentice react if they both stay on Peridhia.

Ray Stevenson was an amazing as Baylon in the show, I do wonder how they will handle his character in season 2, I personally believe recasting would be the best route because I do not think Dave Filoni would just write him off or kill him off just like that. I just hope if they do recast Baylan, it will be an actor who can portray Baylan well without trying too hard to mimic Ray's performance.

It could be that Baylan is being called by the Father (not the son). Mirroring the scene from clone wars where Anakin looks up at the citadel. When Anakin arrived, he found the father waiting for him. What a great way to reveal that Anakin is now the father or at least hint at it, having Baylan show up and find Anakin sitting there on the throne. Likewise, we all think that Anakin shows up at the end of season one to give Ahsoka the nod of approval for her deeds but perhaps he is there for a more profound reason. Almost like Anakin is checking in on his daughter and son. Making sure the pieces are all in place for the coming transition. Either way I am so excited for this. Clone Wars is my favorite Star Wars and the Mortis god episodes are some of my favorite. Dave Filoni is the man. He should be a part of every star wars project

So many people have it wrong about Morai. Since Morai existed when the Daughter was alive, it isn't the Daughter. It's more like a spiritual guide of the Light side (which I believe they even said in Rebels), which the Daughter embraced, and now resides in Ahsoka. Also, since Baylan is on planet Peridea, the Father's statue isn't pointing to the same tower that Anakin went to - on Mortis. Too many comments and theories trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Nonsense.

They could take Baylan's journey into cartoons for a year or two and then recast him for live action. That might be an easier way to recast him. Oh and did anyone else realize that the introduction of the Purgil - traveling between galaxies - literally opens the door for a Star Wars and Star Trek cross-over. It's easy, one of the Purgil routes is to the Milky Way.

Been rewatching Ahsoka and in episode 2 when shin asked Baylon what happens when they find thrawn he says for some war and for others a new beginning and for them power like you’ve never dreamed. Now that we’ve seen season one it’s clear that he could foresee thrawn causing war and the night sisters get the new beginning and Baylon is seeking mortis related power and didn’t bring shin with him due to her ambitions. Theory, Close.. What you said about the scar on the statue.. Anakin is the Brother ( Vader ) Ahsoka is the Sister, look at the statue again see the things coming down around the neck... see it? its her head tails. And then look at that still of Baylon once more and the statue behind him, a spiting image even having the same head pose and everything. ( is it Baylon Balan or another spelling ) Anyways look at his behavioral mannerisms, he has been very balanced in his actions, even his words dictate he is looking for this whole cycle to end, and balance restored to the galaxy once again. That makes sense. And there's more to Mr. Skoll's name than it seems. People talk about the "skoll" a lot, but actually "Bay" is also a wolf, it's a subspecies from the gray wolf species. Yes, Dave went there with the fan service, which worries me because this "gray" thing doesn't sound like George Lucas Star Wars, but rather a relativistic KK thing. BUT at the same time I like that he cares a lot about the fans, even if I don't understand. AND, there's also a very important detail here, the Canadian Hudson Bay wolf, despite being labeled as "gray wolf" from coming from the species known as "gray wolf", he's not really a gray wolf, he's white.🤔. Filoni is trying to bug my mind😂. I'm sure a more knowledgeable fan would draw something big just from that detail alone. Maybe somebody else already spoke about the "Bay" in his name, but I never saw it anywhere. And the fact that it's a white wolf from a gray wolf species, to me makes it almost impossible to be just a coincidence that Dave accidentally put two wolves in his name 😂. Nah. He knew what he was doing.

I'm trying to figure out how Peridea is associated with Mortis and how Mortis is associated with the Dathomirian Witches. Unless The Mother, Abeloth, is the beginning of the Dathomirian Witches and Peridea is where Abeloth was imprisoned away from Mortis. Because Morgan says that Peridea is the home world of her ancient race of people. It's the only conclusion I can come to at this point.

I’m curious if Filoni is injecting what George wanted originally in his version of the sequel trilogy with the Wills of the Force and he’s doing so in a way that is subtle to fulfill what Lucas wanted. I believe Anakin in a way brought balance to the force even in by causing Chaos, the Jedi council seemed to have established order, hold too much power. The light outshined the dark, there was so far little sith or dark Jedi. So Anakin shook the structures, balanced the Dark and the light, although the dark quickly overcame the light, but in time things were set in balance.

I would like to point out the gesture of the father. He is pointing towards the entrance to the world between worlds in Rebels. Loth wolves then form a gate for ezra to pass through. Now, Hati and Skoll are both wolves, so i believe the father is pointing towards a nexus where a gate for sabine and ahsoka can be opened, and now shin and baylan will kind of open the gate, like they did in the mural

I hope is that by drinking from the pool of knowledge, Skoll will see the future, learn of Kylo Ren destroying an entire star system, Palpatine's "Return" and team with Luke & Ahsoka to prevent all of that from happening in the World Between Worlds and prevent the sequel trilogy from happening. Red Lightning could be Force Drain from the Jedi Knight Series. Using it drains the opponent of their Force Energy and the user absorbs said Energy to revitalize or renew himself, sort of like Darth Nihilus but on a less planetary scale

Edit: LOL posted before I watched! Do you think they are setting up Abeloth????!!! He was standing on the statues of the Morris Gods and from now legends(canon in my head) there was the mother who was eventually abondoned by the mortis gods and sealed away. The world from the novels where they originally were from was described as mountainous and forested like the planet Batman was on. I think they are setting her up for calling to Baykal like she did to all the young Jedi of Luke’s new order!

Just a point to note the son was never actually stabbed with the Mortis blade in the clone wars episode. The daughter and father both were but after the father stabbed himself, anakin actually stabs the son with his lightsaber. So it could be possible the son some how survived seen as how everyone survives lightsaber stab wounds these days. Personally I hope it is Abeloth or something else to do with the Mortis god's but wouldn't be too surprised if it is the Son either. Though if Baylen is truly looking for a way to break the cycle he mentioned I think Abeloth is more likely to achieve that without him know just how much it will cost. Maybe even Shin somehow gets possessed and becomes Abeloths new form she has the right sort of look for it. Looking forward to see where Baylen and Shin stories go, and hope whoever replaces Ray Stevenson managed to continue the captivating performance he gave us. R.I.P

I think if they were going to introduce Abeloth it would just be a hint or a mention, bringing her into canon but shes not going to be the villain for Ahsoka. This is a trilogy or even Saga level villain, probably opening the door for a villain that would be 20-30 years AFTER the sequels.

I got chills during that scene, i knew exactly what it was and i actually anticipated that something was going on involvong the son possibly. Awesome ending and season 2 is just gonna be amazing! Its setup perfectly. Also i gotta say i am really bummed out that Ray Stephenson passed. He was brilliant in ahsoka and the character has so much potential for further stories! I hope he gets some awards for his work in ahsoka because it was just perfection! I would say the same about him if he were still alive.

Isn’t there an issue with killing gods? Especially the embodiments of the force itself. Who occupies those niches now they gone? How come the galaxy hasn’t fallen into chaos without its gods? If the broken statue symbolises the passing on to Ashoka , it’s been broken for like 15-20 years since that clone wars ep. I suppose I’m having a hard time with the worst consequence of the literal embodiment of the light side dying is a statue in a seperate galaxy crumbling.

I hope its Abeloth, but since the glow on top of the mountain was red (blue last time), it very well may be the Son. Surprised no one mentioned this color change. The glow could also represent the overall state of balance in the force. Also, if the Daughter statue is missing its head because Ahsoka is the new embodiment of her, shouldn’t the Father’s head be missing too, since Anakin has assumed that role? I’m tempted to say it’s just natural erosion, as a nod to the timescale.

I think we could be looking at a REBELS sequel after the ashoka series since we now have everyone back, in a way except Kanan. It will either be REBELS 2 or Ashoka 2

Yeah, my favorite part was his 0 lines. Matching his apprentices contributions as well... Was awesome. The Mortis gods is interesting but it doesn't cover up the fact that the series was bad overall. Stupid things that would happen, horrible writing/directing decisions... I'm done wasting my time watching Disney SW content. I'll check reviews from various channels before dedicating my time to watching it. SW Theory use to be a really great source. He was logical and had great reasons behind his takes and I typically agreed with most of them. After watching him react/review this series I cannot take his thoughts seriously around this series specifically (not discounting him entirely on future stuff). Theres way to many issues to justify the scores that he gave each episode. With that said, his elaboration videos on events are enjoyable. The series, by itself, is just to tough to watch anymore.

I don’t think recasting Baylan would necessarily be a bad thing. A good example is Dumbledore getting recast after the 2nd Harry Potter movie due to Dumbledore’s original actor Richard Harris passing away and Michael Gambon replacing him. I thought both actors were great and brought the best out of the character in similar but different ways. Hopefully Baylan can be the same. RIP Ray Stevenson. 🙏

Nobody is replacing the son or the daughter or the father. Baylon already told us what he seeks. He seeks the power to stop the cycle of war and peace the cycle of shifting in the force dark to light that keeps repeating. Baylon seeks POWER. Could he be seeking the fountain of power or the pool of knowledge that corrupted Abeloth?

Well technically the Son was killed by Anakin’s lightsaber, not the dagger of Mortis. If you recall the Father sacrificed himself with the Dagger taking away the son’s power. Leaving the son distracted for a moment which gave Anakin a window to deliver a killing blow with his lightsaber.

Could Anakin be the new Father? The balance between the dark and the light? He was standing at the peak where the Father statue is pointing and it is what the Father wanted in the Clone Wars arc. That would also be poetic considering Ahsoka could be the Daughter. Baylon could end up being the son as well given his orange lightsaber indicating he is neither Jedi or Sith (just as the Son proclaimed in the Clone Wars). Just a theory but I think it’s possible.

yes i believe anakin will be the father, holding the balance and completing the clone wars mortis arc. i believe the son will twist baylan's motives and trick him to take his place as the son. after all the dark side is strong with him it will be a perfect fit with baylan as the Son, ahsoka as the Daughter and anakin as the Father holding balance between the light and the dark.

I’m not entirely sure who will fill the roles of the father, son, and daughter but one flaw I notice with theorizing this episode in particular is that lots of creators and theorist say “well since the daughters statue is no longer intact it’s because Ashoka has taken her place, while also theorizing that anakin has taken the place of the father while his statue is still intact this could mean many things but it’s just something I noticed. I can’t wait to see what comes next!!!

It would be pretty interesting if Baylan gets to the peak and instead of finding the father or the son, he finds Anakin in his role as the father-it would give Anakin the chance to show Baylan why the things had to play out the way it did and might just bring him back to the light, or help him to attain true balance in the force.

Ray was the highlight of the show, so sad about his passing he was captivating on screen. I hope his story is either fleshed out in a legend series (because it deserves more than an episode) or they could recast with someone like Alan Ritchson (with some grey hair dye of course) - or someone as dominating on the screen. This mortis stuff is awesome. I never watched the animated shows but im really into it. Goes to show how much of a difference it makes when the show actually has a plan and a plan that traces all the way back to those animated shows. Cant wait for season 2! Hopefully we can see Anakin acting as the father eventually!

I wholeheartedly recommend to watch the clone wars series and the rebels. The show is made really well and has some really dark sequences in which you can clearly see how for instance the character of Anakin moved towards the dark side and many more like this. Definitely a show made for an audience of all ages

Maybe abeloth is so powerful that she is able to spread her influence all the way to the og galaxy, simultaneously fighting Ahsoka & Ezra at the temple in peridea. I could see her trying to incarnate into someone like Shin too, or ventress if it’s possible to resurrect her

The whole Sköll and Hati wolves chasing the sun (light side reference?)/moon (dark side reference?) not only ties with Baylan and Shin but also with the white and black Loth-wolves seen in the shows and depicted on the murals. I think it's great to see this consistent symbolism that wolves are somehow tied to the spectrum of the Force.
